Just back into the Disney spirit now that we have planned a quick trip for Feb 2010...
I wanted to share something awesome that happened during our July trip...
We had dinner at California Grill, expecting to hang around the observation deck after dinner until the fireworks.
Well, we had an hour to go when we decided to go sit down somewhere in the hotel and then come back up. We found some couches on one of the floors and were heading there to sit when I saw an area with some children playing with sort of pirate headwear and saw some sort of photo op going on in the back...being the total nosy body I am, I went to inquire - maybe it was something my 7 yr old daughter could do while we waited.
I was told it was Pirates and Pals...an event you can sign up for where the kids get to play games with some pirates, take pictures with Mr. Smeed and Captain Hook, have a snack and then go out to a boat where a pirate will entertain you, and do games for prizes while you head toward Magic Kingdom...where you will float while the music is piped in and you watch the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom.
Awesome!! So..how much and how far in advance do I need to reserve?
It was something like $55 for adults and $38 for kids - space available immediately. I thanked them, said we'd probably do it another time and went back to the couch to relax for a while.
Not a minute later, the gentleman who had given me the info approached and said "excuse me, but we'd like to offer you a magical moment and invite you to join the party and cruise as our guests"!!!
It was awesome, my daughter still talks about it and likes to play pirates now (with the hat she won on the cruise)!!
So, never be afraid to ask what's going on...you might just be invited to join!
