Ask a Webmaster- here's a chance to ask anything you've been wondering about!

Ok, here's another question. Do you think Disney pays attention to this board?

Sometimes they do. :)

Yes, but today is a brand new day. :rotfl2:

OK, question for WMK...How long am I actually going to feel like accomplishing things today before my slug mode takes over?

Not long, so you better work fast!

I don't think it can get much worse than calling a WM a ho. :faint: :sad2: At least I hope not.
:scared:

I am just gald she has a good sense of humor.

Are you sure?

(and could make a joke about the typo in there but I am taking it easy on you today. I have only had one cup of coffee so my typing ain't so great either!)

Kathy, why does grapefruit taste so good, but make other things with it taste so nasty?

I just had grapefruit with my breakfast of eggs, sausage and cup of coffee and the grapefuit makes everything else taste :crazy2: ESPECIALLY the coffee!

I can't stand grapefruit. Icky...

Yes, but you did give me my laugh of the day by saying that! :rotfl2:

I didn't even notice it, as usual, until you pointed it out.

Good question! :thumbsup2

MAke the joke. I am here for your entertainment. And Tig's too. ;) At least GALD isn't a curse word! :scared1:

That is why I deleted the entire post! :rotfl2: I read it and read it and could not figure out what Scraps was talking about! :rotfl2:

Oh come on now. Don't act like you just met me.

Hi  Tiff here. I made alot of UNINTENTIONAL typo's yesterday. I make them all the time, but yesterday was the worst of all. :sad1: In the recent past anyway. ;)
And I had already seen the typo, but when I went back and looked at it again, I couldn't figure out how you had corrected it without the little edited message showing up. I knew the magical amount of time had passed! I was thinking Tiff was really, really good!
I'm not surprised that you called someone that, it was just who you said it too!

I didn't even notice it, as usual, until you pointed it out.

You missed a typo!

WMK, did you ever think this thread would go quite the way it's going?

No, I didn't. :)

Okay, I'm pretty sure that this has already been asked/answered and I think I've even read it, but I can't find it now. What percentage of the time are warnings/points given because someone has reported it as opposed to it just being seen by you or another mod?

I'd guess that, overall, a problem post is reported by another poster before a moderator sees it about half the time.

Do most people respond to the PM by you when they've been given a warning/points. I always feel like the polite thing to do is to at least acknowledge the PM. I have only questioned it one time, and then only because I really thought it was unjust. If most people do respond, is that why your inbox is so full?

Most people don't respond, but everyone is welcome to.

I joined the Dis in March 2007 and I've now had 3 warnings, but no points. Is that about average? Of Dis'ers that have been around for 1 year or longer, what percentage would you say have never had warnings/points?

That's a really high number. The vast majority of posters have never received any warnings or points.

The rules are really pretty simple: be respectful and polite to other posters, no profanity, no advertising. Posting when angry is what causes most points to be earned.

Yeah, usually it's me that's being called a ho. ;)

I don't think this has been asked, and I have been faithfully reading since the beginning.

Do the real jobs of the Webmasters and Moderators have anything to do with Disney or Computers? I know some are Travel Agents, so the work they do on disboards probably helps them with their clients. Does anyone have a real job that is has no relevance to the disboards?

Fun question!!!

A couple of mods may or may not work for Disney ;) . Some of us are in tech fields, some are travel agents, and many (most) have real jobs with no relation to the DISboards at all!

What we do all have in common is a love of Disney, and we all found this place one way or another and became involved with sharing our love for Disney with others. :)

Hi WMK and all...

Okay here is another of my questions and they are more on the personal side..ready

Are you a DVC member and what is your Home?

I'm not, but many of the team here are.

Do you use a TA from DU or book on your own?

I've done both. I like the convenience of having someone else make all those phone calls. :)

Does Disney give you a discount on travel due to these boards?

We don't have any official relationship with Disney, and they don't give us discounts. But we love 'em anyway!

thanks WMK you Rock!

can you come over and fix dw's lawnmower so i can continue to goof off during my day off today?

Lawnmower? What's that? The outside stuff takes care of itself at my house (at least, that's what DH thinks I think!) :)

cause otherwise i gotta go out and get it going and finish mowing hte yard.....

Hey, if she does yours then she has to do mine too! Although you are quite a bit closer than I am.

Slug mode still hasn't set in too bad...I'm shocking even myself. :rotfl:

The ironic thing is that I'm most under control when posting while angry--I think through what I'm saying much better. It's my goofy moods that get me into trouble.

Now I feel sort of bad. I've honestly NEVER been angry while posting on this board. I've been slightly irritated, but never angry. I can't and wouldn't even try to deny being sarcastic sometimes. My job involves my being angry often enough that I wouldn't even come to the Disboards if it made me angry too.

I believe that I am usually polite and respectful to others here. I take no responsibility for one of my warnings, as it was simply a misunderstanding on the mods end. The other two I take full responsibility for. One was **** a minor profane word. I read the rules carefully at that point and haven't done that again. (I don't believe that it makes any difference that others use that word here daily. I did break a rule, period.) The last one was for a Minor Personal Attack. I thought I was probably being sarcastic at worst, but I can certainly see how it could be construed as a minor personal attack instead, so I wouldn't try to debate the point, even if I thought it would help.

I guess my point here is that in looking at my 3 warnings and giving each due consideration, I just don't see that I can make any further changes to my posting style. I can only continue to try to be polite and respectful. Are you suggesting that I am so bad that it's probably just a matter of time until I will probably be banned? The Dis is the first discussion forum I have ever frequented, or even visited. I enjoy my time here and would most certainly miss it were I to be banned.

No, no, no!!! I was speaking in very general terms. I think the fact that you have received warnings and no points validates that the issues the moderators perceived were *very* minor, and nothing to worry about.

Sarcasm is a interesting thing... there's "funny" sarcasm and "mean" sarcasm, and sometimes it's hard for an outside reader to distinguish the difference.

Ok, here's another question. Do you think Disney pays attention to this board?

Sometimes they do. :)

Care to elaborate on that any more? How do you know they pay attention, any specifics?

(yeah, I am guessing you can't answer, but you said we can ask anything so I have to at least ask)

I'm sure she could tell you, but then she would have to kill you! :cool2:

When a thread is :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: do you quick let the other mods know, even if you have to poof posts? Do you put them in a secret vault somewhere so that everyone can go and admire them with access?

No. We used to have a hidden board we moved posts to to delete them, and it was a highly entertaining place for the moderators to read. :rotfl: Imagine- all of the deleted threads in one place! :scared1:

Now, deleted threads can only be read by the moderators on the forum where the thread was posted. :)

Sometimes we do have a highly entertaining or touching thread that we encourage all of the mods to take a look at. We all need a chuckle now and then. :)

One of the most consistantly funny threads ever poofed (and I understand why)...it had been up for months and was literally pee your pants funny...is that saved somewhere? What would it cost to buy it? (Think two fingered lime green salute)

Have you ever thought about being a webmaster on a Universal Studio message board?

Me? No... :confused3

How come when I try to make my letters tiny like this, it doesn't work for me.

Maybe I am just dense.
