Ashley Madison an auspicous day

Since we are both anonymous people on the internet there is no point answering your question of how I think I know but you certainly don't seem to give these people much credit when it comes to training in their fields.

All I can say to everyone is do not assume when someone claims intimate knowledge of the inner workings of, well anything, over the internet that it is a true statement. For instance working in a school does not make one a teacher, working in a hospital does not make one a doctor, working in a court building does not make one a lawyer, police officer or prosecutor.

I did not say I was a prosecutor, merely that I know several. It's hardly unusual as I work regularly in the courthouse, and as such have some idea "how the sausage is made" here. It's hardly telling tales out of school to say that people I've described as bright and educated may also not be tremendously familiar in the electronic and digital media arenas. I wouldn't want them installing my hardwood floors or giving my car a tune up either. Hardly means I don't have respect for their training IN their field.

It's interesting that you throw out absolutes of what cannot or does not happen with no basis of opinion provided, while simultaneously saying that the information and possibilities I've laid out are both incorrect and embellished. Yup, it's the internet. IMO it's very possible to tell quite a lot about a person by what they post on the internet, both by what they say and how they say it.

Thank you for your well thought out posts. It's too bad that some don't see them for what they are.

Only flaw in using someone elses email you would have to access to it to verify registry.

This is not true. Many sites do not verify email addresses. It is reported that AM did not.

My email has been listed on 5 data breaches for sites I have never been a member of. Because of that, I have my own email server and maintain an email account for every site I join. Then I know which site is lax or sold my info and I just drop the account and the email. No more spam.

Or it could be as simple as the email was hacked and used for nefarious activities. Many people don't keep a complex password. The most popular password used is 123456.

Now that is a HUGE stretch of the imagination. I steal your info & don't go shopping but sign up for AM - REALLY?

Yeah & monkeys will fly out of my butt
No it is not. Hackers need email addresses that they can exploit for various reasons. If you are naive to that, I suggest you signup for lifelock. You don't need a CC to signup for AM. Try it yourself using a false name.

But could they use his credit card, with correct addresses in Arkansas and Maryland for the two accounts, for 2 years of recurring charges? It's almost certainly him. The bigger they are the harder they fall...
Yes,
Many people are just on auto pilot or they have personal assistants/accountants just pay the bills without review.

My first job out of school as an accountant had me paying the owners personal AMEX bill without question when it arrived. He never saw the bill. A $20 a month charge would go unnoticed for years.

That is not in the top 25.
Password and QWERTY are also among the top.

Where are people having accounts that allow these passwords?

I know my work passwords (14 characters, not one you used before or even one character off from before, at least one cap, one lower case, one number, one special character and must be changed every 90 days) is on the extreme end but most websites require at least one or two of these rules.

A good friend of mine (college roommate, groomsmen for eachother, one of my best friends for over 10 years) was the one email I found in the database! And I totally searched everyone... hard. Can't decide if I'm more surprised that he was on there... or that nobody else was. Was kind of hoping to find that one of my single friends had signed up to scam on married women? Anyway,he and his wife are vacationing right now and I keep getting their snapchats and I keep thinking if she's going to google this. They began dating in college, and then post-college, when we would drink constantly and she was out of the city, he was a serial cheater. Seemingly everyone but her knew. In more recent years though, leading up to their wedding last year, I felt that he was beyond that. I also wouldn't put it past one of our friends to have signed his email address up just to mess with him. By the by, he's an unemployed waiter and she's a doctor... living the dream. So... interesting situation.

It is possible that he is beyond that. He could have had that account from 10 years ago. Or whenever AM came online. It is already clear that AM was not deleting accounts.

Electability. I'm not sure, that a candidate being married is as important today, as it was even 10-15 years ago. But, it is still VERY important to some voters. And, even a percentage point or two can make the difference.

Not being married yet, is not going to hurt you in politics. Being divorced is the kiss of death.

Hillary might have forgiven Bill in public. But in private, they haven't slept in the same house since. They have a marriage of convenience now. Nothing more.

The only people I feel the slightest bit of sympathy for are those women coincidentally named "Ashley Madison." You know there's got to be at least a hundred or more scattered throughout the country.
A friend of mine has 4 daughters. His oldest is named Ashley and his second is named Madison. I tease him by asking his wife whose idea was it for the names. Because if it was his...

In general, I think those views are aging. Do they still matter in some areas of the country, sure. Over time, I think they will sort of quietly disappear.

I think women coming forward might be the one place he catches a break. You have to imagine that women with Ashley Madison accounts are either married themselves, or are escorts hired by the company. In either case, they both have their reasons for being discreet.
You are assuming that everyone on that site is married. I am told that there are single people as well.

After this thing leaked, a friend of mine got curious to see how the site even operated. She signed up. She's pretty much disgusted, and now sure how one could even find anyone decent on there.
