Ashes spread in WDW

Do a search on "ashes" and you will find many threads on this topic, some very interesting!

Every so often this topic pops up. In order to transport cremains on a plane, you are supposed to also carry a certificate of transport to carry human cremains. No cruise line will "let" you sprinkle cremains. Disney of course, does not allow this either.

MY DH left this world while on our first trip to WDW. The cremains are still in my closet. One of these trips I will bring some on my WDW trip. But the time is STILL not quite right. An Seven Seas cruise of some sort sounds good, or else near the Castle during Wishes. One of the golf courses might be good...but then.. as some wise posters have indicated...:rotfl2:

I must be discreet, lest the Disney crackerjack cleaning team sweep up!

Morbid? Nah - DH would laugh himself silly!!

I always wondered-do you have to list a final "resting place" for the cremains? And if so, what if you list your home and yet, you've gone and scattered them at WDW? I mean, how can you tell the police "Well, officer, someone must have broken into my house and you wouldn't believe what they stole!"

Hey, it's in my will that my ashes are to go to WDW .... but will they return....

Disney is totally missing the boat, there should be a place for ashes to be stored, you should be able to have Mickey and Minnie come as mourners, at least a phone call from Goofy ....

In one of the ashes threads, there was a discussion about how WDW should have a cemetery or "mouse-a-leum";) somewhere on the property.

They would make a killing.
They would knock 'em dead.:rolleyes1
They would bury the competition.

My family will be right there with the rest of you. I like the idea of spending eternity in my most favorite place.

Gosh, guys! Now, everytime I get some dust in my eye at a theme park, I'm going to wonder who just hitched a ride.

Yuck, I for one do not want to be standing in someones ashes while trying to have a fun filled vacation with my family! Disney is supposed to be an upbeat place, I don't think they should ever allow ashes there as I think it would bring people down as they walked by thinking about some dead person nearby!

OK, this thread is starting to crack me up! First Disney does weddings, now funerals? Mickey and Minnie in their mourning clothes? Goofy presiding over the burial? I'm not trying to disrespect anyone, please understand, the but the idea of this is really pretty funny!

I told my DH ages ago that I wanted to be cremated and 1/2 my ashes scattered under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (another favorite place) and the other 1/2 somewhere in WDW, anywhere. Hopefully it will be a LOOOONG time before he needs to do this, and I don't mind if it's the Seven Seas Lagoon or another body of water outside the parks, just so I'm there!

Oh no. So sorry to hear about your loss. And at Disney during ur 1st trip no doubt. I dunno what I would have done if my DH died while we are in Disney. Knowing me, I prob would have died right along with him from a broken heart. But anyways, I've actually have heard peoples ashes getting spread all over Disney. I thought it was legal but I guess not. As much as I love Disney, I wouldnt want my ashes spread all over. I just wanna be barried. Hm, maybe I can be barried in Disney somewhere.

Be careful, it is illegal to scatter ashes in FL, other than 3 miles off shore.
I was told that by a funeral director.
Anybody here who can confirm that?

I personally don't see anything wrong with scattering on 7 Seas Lagoon or the World Showcase Lagoon, if you are very discreet.:rolleyes1

According to Affinity Direct Cremation's website:

What are the laws regarding scattering ashes?

There are no laws in Florida prohibiting scattering ashes.
Florida Law does not prohibit scattering ashes. This does not mean, however, that you may spread or scatter the ashes anywhere you choose.
• You should not spread or scatter ashes on public lands or any inland bodies of water such as streams, rivers or lakes, etc.
• You may spread, scatter or bury ashes on any private land that you own or have obtained permission from the owner. We would suggest that you obtain this permission in writing. You may also wish to consider Sharing Urns (see below).
• Many states have different laws regarding this subject. If you are considering spreading or scattering ashes somewhere other than Florida, you should check the laws of that state before proceeding.
• Scattering or spreading ashes in the ocean is permitted, however federal regulations do specify this should be done only beyond 3 miles from the coast. We offer Scattering at Sea as one of our services. We have devoted a full page to this subject. Vist our Scattering Information (http://affinitycremation.com/scatter.html) for more information and suggestions about scattering ashes.

Yeah, well you may very well have been standing in someone's ashes the last time you were at WDW. Maybe you just didn't know it!!!! Obviously, this seems to be a common thing to do although Disney does not "allow" it.

My final wishes don't involve cremation, so spreading my ashes anywhere is out. The Mouse-o-leum sounds great though. Finally we'll have a DVC for the dead. I just hope my family can afford the monthly maintenance fees.

I told DH to just put my ashes in Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay. That warm water in the Bahamas sounds perfect to me.

It would only be a small part of them though. Like, you know, just a pinch here and a pinch there. Don't want to go wasting him.

I can see it now. The new MK parade "A Very Mickey New Orleans Funeral". With Goofy heading it up playing a saxaphone.

i told my dh and kids to put my eyes in the grass looking towards the castle
think they would mind??

You could use those see thru film cases. So you don't get dry eye.:thumbsup2

I told my wife to scatter my ashes at the local shopping mall. That way she will visit me three times a week.
