Our son is scared to see Fantasmic again. He is 12 and doesn't like the scary parts (we just saw it this summer). We are taking grandma to WDW and wanted her to see the show. Our 9 year old wants to see it again.

I don't know what to do. Anyone else have a child who was scared of Fantasmic? I suggested that maybe we could take a walk during the witch/snake part. He does really like the beginning and the end.

If he can tolerate parts of it, I'd say take everybody and go see Fantasmic; let him take a walk during the scary parts. Otherwise, consider letting Grandma take the 9yo and you sit it out with your son.

My autistic 11yo is terrified of Illuminations. We took him once and I thought he was going to stop breathing, he got so upset. :guilty: It was terrible for him, so we don't do that anymore. One of us takes the other kids and the other hits the pool with Christian.

I am a 40 year old female that hates the scary parts.

I don't understand that during the show they have to scare the pants off everyone.

I say, find a seat in the back, get up and walk during the bad parts and come back when they are over.

Good luck.

My DD9 is hard of hearing, and fireworks and shows like Fantasmic really scare her, too....sounds silly for a HOH kid, but we take a walkman/ipod with us and let her listen to soothing music during the scary parts- helps block out the loud noises. She can close her eyes, but for you getting up and walking around might be more "away" from the extra stimulation.....

.....hard, isn't it. I absolutely love fireworks, but she is terrified. Can't really justify terrifying her to watch evening shows or fantasmic. Thank goodness we found a way around so both of us are happy!

Good luck....let us know what works!

I'm 27 and I'm afraid of Fantasmic. We skip it now. From what I remember there is a specific "dark" section. If you could take a walk during that time go for it. :)

Thank you all! We like to sit in the back anyway on the end of the row. I think we will just take a walk. He really does enjoy the beginning and the end. Too bad the middle has to be as scary as it is. I would skip the show, but we are taking grandma and she has never been to WDW.

We saw Fantasmic in July and the boys didn't have a nightmare. If they had we wouldn't be going back. I think the villain part is just so convincing!

Thanks again!

We saw Fantasmic last year with our daughter 4 and son 6(PDD-NOS,SID) and while they both enjoyed it, my daughter commented after that it sure did have alot of scary and evil stuff in it. Out of the mouths of children.
We are going back in January and have opted not to see it this year. I don't know why such a beautiful Disney show has to be this way??? :rotfl2:
