Planning is half the fun. Even when life gets in the way of your plans you can't get upset because you just get to replan everything.:thumbsup2 We went last October for 5 nights and we took my mom. We didn't get to experience the food and wine festival as much as I wanted to or do mnsshp. We visited all the parks and resorts for her which was fine.... no regrets. I am hoping this year I can eat, drink wine, and relax a little more.... and of course get to the mnsshp. Your plans sound great. Have you been on a Disney cruise? It's the best vacation ever. Just so darn expensive.:faint:

2014!! DH pinkie swore!! ::yes::

:thumbsup2 That house sounds amazing! On a side note, Dh and I were looking over the ABD website, wow do those trips look amazing! We were looking at the England / France one, as I went to Europe in 2000 by myself. I have always talked about it and DH really wants to take the kids over there! However....:scared1: the price of that trip would make a fantasy cruise look like nothing! It would be about $25,000 for the five of us before airfare!

I think we could do that a little cheaper...:rolleyes2 when the DD's are older. But yes there are sooo many places we want to go now... it is an addiction for sure! But a good one!:goodvibes

Europe would be great! I went to Spain when I was 17 and haven't been back but would love too!! DH travels the world being in the military! DH mainly wants to get the girls to Greece...I vote via the Disney Cruise. We have to wait until the girls will be able to withstand an 8 hour flight before getting a ship for a week! Few more years...::yes::

Well, signing off for the night...going to put baby girls sheets in the dryer, and off to bed I go!!

We're doing a couple of side trips this summer too, sometimes i wonder how the heck we've managed to save for everything! But never underestimate the power of the "family vacation"! Whether it is Disney, or anywhere else, nothing can compare to getting away with your kiddos. We never did it for too long and now I can't get enough!

BTW where is the outer banks??:confused3

I often wonder how I pull off all these trips. Family vacations are the best.

On the other hand. My dh is taking my kids to his parents for a week this Summer. We homeschool so this might be the best vacation in the last 8 years. I get the house to myself.:cloud9: On the days I'm not working I'm going to nap, read books...did I say nap? What is a quiet house like? I can't wait to find out, and the best part it's not costing me anything.:cool1:

Wow good for you for homeschooling! A quiet house for a week, wonder how long it will be before you miss them?? No really, what a nice break that will be. You will certainly deserve it! I am going out for the day tomorrow to Buffalo to shop (we are from Ontario) with DH's aunt and the thought of being away for the day is even odd to me!! I can't wait to browse though...::yes::

My kids are 7 and 9, and I have never spent a night without them, but I think I'm ready. I will miss them terribly, but I think it will be good for me mentally. They will have a great time in California with their grandparents.

Christine small world .... my DD also did a study abroad in Florence. She also decided to extend her time but moved to London with some of the staff from her program.

How wonderful! Which did she like better - Florence or London? We traveled to London a few times later and Mia would say she liked both the UK and Italy, but the latter was the home of her heart. She is half Italian, so there was a real connection for her.:)

And a big one for you too

:grouphug:

It is not silly, and I am right there with you! There is something that makes you look back, when you can get ahead. I still can't believe that we made the dream come true to even get to WDW, and now we are going back for our 3rd time in three years! I know alot of you ladies have been many many more times then that, so you know how special it is to come back year after year.

BTW We are officially paid off today!! YIPEE!!:banana::banana:

Congrats on that final payment!!! I well remember our early WDW trips and the excitement of wanting to go back soon. Our first was late August, no EPCOT yet and only the CR, Poly, Golf Resort and FW. Poly was booked, so we stayed at CR and loved it...we could not wait to go back so I booked a long weekend in March...EPCOT was open by then, but we decided to ride the monorail around, but not go in...back then there was no characters in EPCOT so it did not hold the enchantment of the MK (not that it does now, but far more to enjoy now). That began our twice yearly trips...until my kids gently broke the new that they were "Mickey'd out"!! So sad...what kind of children did I raise?! DD, who now has a 3 1/2 yr old, still has very little interest in Disney, other than taking Sophia once. :confused3 Then I can take her as often as she is willing to go with me! I am hoping when DD experiences WDW as a mother, she will want to go often with Sophia. :thumbsup2

We were stationed in Key West in the 90's.

OK, that one got my attention - you've never drank coffee - ever? Would it be too personal to ask why?

Ah... Key West...not sure that counts as truly living in FL.;) We lived in JAX...

Not too personal a question at all. I did taste it once....a sip...hated the taste; not a fan of hot drinks in general. Now coffee ice cream, the stronger, the better - it's cold! Yum!

OT but....hooray for my 1000th post!! I wanted it to be here!pixiedust:
:cheer2: :dance3: :woohoo:

Hope all my RC family has a wonderful holiday weekend! We are off in a while to drive to So Cal for a week. This weekend will be strange .... DS and almost DIL are off to Palm Springs for a wedding. DD flew to Seattle last night to spend the weekend with a friend. DH, myself and our poor old dog will stay at DD's apartment and care for her kitty. I can smell the ocean air and feel the breeze! :beach: Everyone will be back from their adventures Monday night so then family time will begin, of course all the kids will be back at work so we'll have to schedule around that but still excited to see my babies (33 & 30)!

Happy saturdays RCers!! :goodvibes

We are off to NYC .... late leaving, but still going ... hitting FAO schwartz, hard rock cafe, a street fair and 9/11 memorial, and who knows what else!

Bringing DD and her BFF :banana:

Hi Sheila, GG (have a great trip), Christine and everyone else!! :)

Pas Update:

She left POP this AM to head to Sea World. They could see the smoke from the I-4 fires :sad2: but luckily no one in the area was hurt.

Their favorite pool is the bowling pin pool. :thumbsup2

Later all!

Jenny - I feel the same way about vacations. We didn't splurge on them for a long time. But now, I look at my kids and I see the years slipping away. I want to make memories more than I want to buy stuff!

Somehow I missed your post until now. Hope your day was wonderful.

I was trying to remember if pas & company were staying 1 night or 2 at POP. SW is so much fun, I hope they had a great time there.

Thanks for the update Janet

 Sheila!!

We did have a great time yesterday, NYC is so much fun! I will upload a pix or two at some point today.

Got back late .... 11:30pm but we were late in leaving so knew it meant a longer night.

:)

On Saturday, they checked out of POP, but not before booking BBs for both August and the September trips .... Aug, 3 nites at POP, Sept at GF! :cool1:

At SW again today and tomorrow move over to the Royal Pacific, with dinner at the Hard Rock monday nite for Katies birthday party:

Hi guys. Just checking in. Yesterday was a LONG day. We were here by 9:30 AM. Then went food shopping, came home tool a nap, then went to dinner. At might I took a short walk with the kids and then we just hung out inside. I read my book. Today I'm starting my next one and no other plans as of yet!

Hey all! Just checking in. Hope everyone is having a fantastic Memorial Day weekend! We had a BBQ at our house yesterday, which was super fun, but ran super late...we are all just waking up now!!!! :lmao:

I also had to acknowledge that we now only have 49 days until our happy place!!!!!

Sooooooo happy! :cloud9:

Good morning all :wave2:! Sounds like everyone is enjoying Memorial Day weekend! :cutie:

Disneydreamin, so glad to hear you are relaxing and enjoying yourself now that the chores are done!

Grumpy Grandma, :beach: have fun!

I texted with Janet yesterday while she was in NYC! What a fun way to spend the day, with a DD and her BFF :goodvibes

I also heard from our pas yesterday since she had been at our beloved GF the day before! As Janet said, they were able to use the BB for their trips in August and Sept. She and HRH are doing GV at the GF in Sept...anyone want to wager on whether or not that will change? :rotfl: She did say HRH was not bothered by the construction at the GF.

mousemommy, have a relaxing day today with your family. Sounds like you are having a great weekend! AND congrats, you are now in the 4 zone, as we call it in our family!

sjs and minnie&nana, thinking about you both this weekend. Hugs

I am feeling well, so happy this chemo isn't wiping me out for days  My girls both swam competitively when they were growing up and I am still actively involved with swimming. I am on the NJ Swimming Official's committee and volunteer at swim meets. I was at Rutgers yesterday morning and am going back tonight to help out. We saw a number of swimmers make their US Olympic Trials times at the meet...very exciting to see these kids achieve their dreams. No one will likely make the Olympic team, but they get to try!

Ooooh, the 4 zone! That sounds so official! :rotfl2:

Glad you are feeling well! :goodvibes

Yes, lots of relaxing today. DH just actually went out with DFIL, as DFIL is on a quest to buy DD's the best basketball hoop ever!!! :faint:

DD8 plays on two teams and loves basketball, so she will finally have her own hoop to practice with! She doesn't know it's coming though. :bitelip:

How exciting for her! Does her sister like BB?

Don't you like the "4 zone, 3 zone etc." idea?! I don't know when we started it but it has been how we count down for trips since I can remember. When you get to the "single digit zone" you are practically there! :cool1:
