As the Ticker Turns~The next chapter of the Resort Changers Saga...*RC trips pg.238

Well, for this trip, POFQ was our original choice, and I was super excited about that!!! But, then DH gave the greenlight to go deluxe and yes, WL was my first choice (back then we were only staying 8 days). Then all hell broke loose!!!! So, yes, I am back to my original booking. (Except we have 10 whole nights now!!!!).

Still debating on whether to CL or not to CL...it would be $740 for the whole 10 night stay, and definitely a silly splurge...but we will be at the resort alot... :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 I say DO CL!!! :lovestruc definitely worth the splurge, especially if you are at your resort a lot.....Careful though, once you experience CL, I don't know if I could ever NOT have it!!! CL is too amazing for words! I :lovestruc  :cloud9: it!!!

I feel like I've been bothering everyone with my indecision since last summer, but I still don't know whether I should keep the entire 13 nights at WL/CL as is, or split with another resort for four nights before WL. The four nights would be during our actual anniversary. We're down to less than 100 days now...

Sad RC background:

~Originally had RPC/Deluxe room booked, but canceled due to construction.

~Changed to AKL/CL, but canceled because DH (finally) admitted that AKL is at the bottom of his list, but he'd still stay there, but I don't want to stay at his bottomofthelist resort.

~So I changed to our second favorite resort - CR Atrium Club. Got cold feet about the Atrium Club (wasn't crazy about it back in 2010), so changed back to all WL/CL. I could just book CR without CL:scratchin

~Recently flirted with the idea of FW Cabins, but Jungle Cruiser wasn't buying it! Have seriously considered a BLT one bedroom, but I still can't get past those bad room condition reviews (just like those Poly/CL reviews). The VWL one bedrooms seem nice, but they only have one bathroom.

CR keeps appearing at the top of the list - but is CL calling? Non-CL? BLT?

So..... Should I just keep the 13 nights at WL/CL or should I change the first 4 nights up front to something else? WWYD?

:welcome: home, Janet! What a great daughter you are::yes::

MM1: I know how you feel. You're sure you have everything booked just right and then some emotion hits you and you second guess yourself. Of course I can repeat all the wonderful things about WL and CL that you already know, but sometimes that just isn't enough. I think you should try WL/CL and plan on Poly for another trip AFTER we hear back from Deena and Dani on their experience. (Sorry if I've left out other RCs who are staying Poly/CL soon:flower3:)

Speaking as the crazy split stay lady .... I say do a split stay!!! :cool1: Now my perfect split is a MK resort followed by an Epcot resort. I know you weren't thrilled with BWI CL but what about BC or YC? :confused3

You're right about BWI, CSSL, but we did like YC/CL, but their lounge is just way too small and no view to speak of. And this will sound crazy, but DD13 didn't really like staying at an Epcot resort last month because we only did Epcot and DHS for the first four days since it was so convenient. Then when we moved to WL, we didn't go to Epcot again. She likes mixing it up more and actually, I have to agree. Also, we really missed the MK Resorts area. So that's why an Epcot resort isn't in contention.

I am REALLY leaning towards CR TOWER BLV and changing our anniversary dinner to CA Grill and doing Artist Point another night. I know this would please DH and DD which would make me happy, but will I regret it?

I think that 4 nights CR and 9 nights WL sound wonderful. You'll be at each resort long enough to settle in and enjoy it. :cloud9:

Thank you for saying that, CSSL because I just booked CA Grill for our anniversary! So now I'm double-booked with Artist Point.

Still not sure whether to do CR or BLT:confused3. CR is tried and true and BLT is the great-big-roomy unknown:worried:

Sorry I don't know what CSSL stands for :confused3 I've never stayed any type of CL so I'm not up on all that.

*waves to all RCers*

Does anyone mind if I ramble on? Prepare for diarrhea-of-the-keyboard (apologies in advance)...

Just want to share because I'm keeping it between the 3 in this house... and you guys. We hemmed, we hawed, we waffled. We almost booked YC. Almost. We ended up with BC-CL. I'm a failure at changing! I'm stoked so thanks for letting me happy-vent. :hyper: (Not sure why I didn't pull the trigger on YC. Perhaps because we had a such a nice time at BC last year I'd feel like a dirty rat cheater. :lmao:)

We'd not planned on going at all this year -- due to no discounts and staying too long last year (crazy, I know!). There was talk of going to the Grand Canyon. Then there was talk of no vacations since we have to go overseas to visit family. Then, when we got around to really talking about it, the husband admitted that we simply enjoy going to Disney on vacation. :faint: Just for smaller amounts of time. We came to this conclusion after being able to convince ourselves that taking kiddo out for a few days of kindergarten would be okay. When I casually mentioned to the hubs we "should just go for a short vacation every year", he didn't even roll his eyes!

Concierge has been in touch already. I've only asked for a tiny room request. I booked 2 ADRs last night since I can't help myself; but I'm going to leave it at that since we'd rather take our chances.

We're only staying for 4 nights / 5 days. I'm tentatively planning on the following:
  • Day 1: Arrival, DTD, Swimming in the afternoon, Boardwalk stroll in the P.M. Not sure where to lunch but Ghirardelli is on the agenda.
  • Day 2: Walk to HS, 50's Prime Time? This is one of my ADRs. Not sure if I'll keep it or not. I loved that milkshake. Starring Rolls was quite nice though. Hmm.
  • Day 3: Breakfast at Swalphin's Fresh Market; we were so impressed with this place last year. Swimming in A.M., Prerequisite nap, P.M. at MNSSHP :thumbsup2 (We had such a flippin' blast doing this. I believe this is one of the reasons we've agreed on going back to Disney this autumn.) Not sure what to do about dinner. :confused3
  • Day 4: Walk to Epcot. Drink and eat plenty of bad things.
  • Day 5: Swim, Cry, Back to Reality.

Why do I feel like I'm forgetting something? I really do.

Kook: I've read your BWI-CL review! Thanks for posting that and linking to it in your sig. I'd been curious about BWI actually but mentally concluded it would be a bit too noisy at night with all the activity on the Boardwalk. I do love that whole area though. It was one of the reasons that sold us on the BC last year -- along with SAB and walking to Epcot / HS -- was being able to stroll over there at night.

So I'm sitting here at the beach, waiting for my DD to get off work and I started thinking .... very dangerous! :rotfl2:

I've decided that within the next year or so I really want to buy more DVC points but now the RCer question .... where? :confused3

I currently own at SSR .... bought directly from Disney before I knew any better. If I'd known about resale I would have bought somewhere else but no looking back and those SSR points have served me well.

VWL probably my favorite resort ... maybe because it reminds me so much of my beloved Lake Tahoe. Such a peaceful resort and so much to do there.

BCV I love this resort .... Epcot is my favorite resort with DHS being my second favorite. It might be smart to own here as it's so hard to book at the 7 month window.

BWV I've only spent one night here but am spending 4 nights in Oct so I should know then how I feel about it.

VGC Because it's such a small DVC resort it's hard to get in at the 7 month window. Also I live in CA so if airfares stay crazy it is a quick vacation for me.

Or maybe I should just wait, buy directly from Disney when the GV villas open up????

What to do? What to do? :confused3

Sounds like a great plan .... I love all the relaxing time you have! :thumbsup2 I'm always looking for breakfast options so can you tell me more about Fresh Market. We'll be at BWV for 4 nights this October so it might be something we'd like to try.

I need advice. I am really really unhappy at my job. My new boss is really stressing me out and I just can't deal with it. I'm thinking of going out on disability for a few weeks to relieve my anxiety. Would it be terrible to do that? I feel like this job is sucking the life out of me and it's not fair to my kids. I'm currently sitting in a back room crying because I'm so miserable here.

Thanks! :goodvibes I'm trying to get over this nagging feeling of leaving something out of that plan.

Regarding Fresh Market, it's worth a visit for sure -- if you don't mind buffets, that is. (Honestly, even though hubs and I aren't really into buffets this one is pretty good.) It's located in the Dolphin. We'd done the Cape May breakfast and the AKL Boma breakfast and although we do like those, we found the Fresh Market to be a nice change-of-pace from Disney fare. They do made-to-order waffles, eggs and French toast. Freshly-pressed juices. Rotisserie meats. Yoghurt parfaits. Also, my personal favourite change-of-pace from Disney, Starbuck's coffee. :hyper: We weren't sure what to expect before trying it last year but it was one of the hits of the trip. Here's their menu for a look-see; it really does seem more extensive in-person than what they list there.

Edit after just reading Dani's post above: Yikes. You really should. It wouldn't be terrible in the slightest -- at all; better for you take care of yourself and get well.

I'm not exactly sure what you do for work...I gather you work in a bank and also now do the travel agent thing as well, so I'm not sure of your job demands but would you qualify for disability? It's awful to have a job that you are miserable at, I know, I have had them  But, obviously being on disability affects your income, and can you take that hit (can your vacation take that hit?)...have you been looking for a new job at all? I speak from an interesting side of all this in that I am a workers compensation claim adjuster...I would suspect that a w/c claim would be denied as "stress at work" isn't typically an accepted injury, but if you have previously been diagnosed and then are taken out on short term due to that, you may be able to do that. Breathe...look at your options....what's with your boss? Why does he make you so :furious:?

Hi all! I am off to Chicago today and will be gone til Sunday evening. Going to visit my August WDW travel buds DN & her DH. :hyper: I am pretty sure I will come home a RC-ed woman. :thumbsup2

Trying from memory here so here goes:

Janet: Welcome back. You have been in my thoughts and prayers for days. Please take care of yourself as well as mom. I hope she is managing ok:hug:.

WDWKOOK: Stay true to your pioneering ways if FWC signs to you. But you sure can't beat a CR CL either...:rolleyes1

Missoutandabout: Welcome back here, and just in time for me to go back to Chicago today. See you there! ;) All Epcot resorts rock IMO, so I am glad you picked the one you enjoy most. I like your itinerary, and Fresh Market sounds like a nice change of pace. Starbucks is coming to WDW soon so you can get your fix whenever you want. :)

LUVLUVLUV: Enjoy!!! Can't wait to hear your updates.

GrumpyGrandma: BWV or BCV are good bets since Epcot and DHs are your faves. But then GFV is a category unto itself. Enjoy your delicious dilemma of which Villa to buy. :cloud9:

Mousemommy: If you plan to be at the resort a lot, CL is worth the extra $$... and you deserve it. :wizard:

We're at the airport! It's been a wild 24 hours--I could write a whole TR just about that itself lol. We are at the gate, I'm medicated, and I'm going to WDW!!!

I'll miss everyone, and will try to check in! I'll have lots of updates on Facebook!

Bye for now!!

Pas and JanetB, thanks for the support! It makes me feel better to hear others stories about their MIL issues, but missing a birthday is inexcusable in my book. We dealt with that one too.:furious:

Mousemommy did you decide about CL yet??? And don't worry you are not a crazy lady..or we all are and just think we are normal!!:lmao:

Going to see a dance production at oldest DD school tonight that she is in, so excited to see her up on stage! She's really growing up!

Anyhoo...happy thursday everyone!!:goodvibes

Deena Have a safe and Magical trip. :)

MAGIC Have a great time in Chicago

I still have to go back and read to catch up but I am trying to scrap the idea of another trip this year, putting it off till 2013. The more I run the numbers it just seems to make sense to wait.

I almost lost my mind and booked flights for Nov/Dec when I saw a good deal $110 each way and here I am with no room booked :rotfl2:

Since we do both want to stay at BWI I think waiting is the way to go.
