As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Pas hope everything goes well tomorrow & will be sending prayers your way.

Pixarmom I hear you on that, it's great that now you can sign up. At Universal last August even my 24 yr old daughter was disappointed that she wasn't picked for the Wand! She hid it well, but I know how much she hoped to be picked. But they always pick the young ones it seems.

It's so funny that you say that about the Wand!!!! We did Universal in February 2013 for just a day (that's as long as I'd leave Disney) and for this very reason, my husband and I decided we weren't going into the shop at all. We have three boys, so either two or all three were going to be disappointed!

:upsidedow good plan!
This daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan and when Universal first opened Harry Potter attraction years ago she made me promise I wouldn't go to Universal without her. Between work & school she hadn't been able to come in a long time. Finally last year she graduated and found a full time job in her field so was able to book holidays like everyone else ::yes::
She was beyond excited about seeing the Harry Potter attractions at Universal!
They are unbelievably well done! We spent 3 days there, before WDW.

Jeanette I will be thinking of your DH tomorrow. :grouphug:I know it will all be ok! He's got the bestest nurse ever looking after him.:hug::hug:

Ginny - congrats on AKL in February! And I sent you a pm. :-)

SO excited about the Into the Woods movie that comes out in January!

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow to everyone in the States! :-)

To you and your family as well.

Happy early Thanksgiving to those RC families in the States. I wish you all a happy, drama free day of eating and watching football. GO COWBOYS!!

Today is packing day for my trip. In approx 2 days 18 hours and 44 mins (from time of this post) I will be leavin' on a jet plane (I just love that song) to Atlanta. I can't wait!! I'm so glad I have Thanksgiving to keep me busy, as it has made the week not seem to creep slowly by.

Happy Thanksgiving to my U.S. Dis friends!

Pas how is your husband!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DH is uncomfortable, but he is also being a bad patient LOL. Not using ice or resting..when the cat's away (I am at work) ;) He starts PT Monday. Thank you for checking Sue, and Kook love the "sticker" :grouphug:

Hi! I'm a first time poster on this thread. You all seem super helpful, so I thought you would be a good group to ask for help. I booked PO-R for September next year with a bounce back offer for free dining for my daughter (who will be 6 at the time) and myself. I've already upgraded to deluxe dining (I KNOW! So much food, but I really want to try more of the signature restaurants, plus character meals for the little). It will take a few cutbacks throughout the year, but I'm considering either upgrading to a preferred room or Royal room at PO-R, or switching resorts all together and booking a standard room at WLR. I'm thinking with all the ADRs, the boat at WLR will come in really handy. I've never stayed at either resort and would love your input as far as convenience (esp. transportation) or any other thoughts and suggestions you might have!

So we did both POR and WL this past July, and we LOVED WL. :-) The buses were great and seemed faster than POR, especially since there are so many stops at POR. Now if you were in a preferred room or a Royal Room near one of the last stops before heading to parks, it might be a different story. The WL boat was nice as well. :-) Relaxing ride to MK or CR for Chef Mickey's or FW for pony rides.

Good luck! Either way, you're going to be at Disney World!

Considering adding a night at the beginning of the trip in January . . . maybe AOA. Our youngest is interested in a return to Fantasmic and we can't fit it in during marathon weekend, so maybe at the start of the trip . . .

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband would be the same way . . . sending good wishes for a speedy recovery!

Welcome! We've stayed at both POR and WL and feel like the additional expense of WL is worth it. The boat to/fro MK is so relaxing and a wonderful way to start/end the day. The dining options at WL are great - we especially love Territory Lounge - they welcomed our kids and we all enjoy the fondue there. (Our dining experiences at POR were not so great - long story, and maybe not the norm, but just not great.) I always thought the WL buses were fine, and agree the POR/POFQ bus loop can take a long time. We always had good luck there on the way to the park in the morning, but getting to Epcot ADRs in the evenings seemed to take a very long time. We also prefer the theme of WL, the beautiful lobby, the balconies and the overall atmosphere. So I'd recommend the switch, if it's in the budget!

The WL is one of my family's top 2 WDW resorts. It's so beautiful. We all loved taking the boat to the MK. If you can make it work, it's totally worth it.

As far as my trip goes, in about 15 hours my DH will be driving me to the airport. I'm so excited!!

Ice is my BFF these days ::yes::

Hello my friends!!!

Taking a second to say hello and check in!
Wookie - have a great trip!
Jeanette - hope DH is doing okay (and that you aren't going crazy!)
Everyone else - hope you had a great Thanksgiving (or a great Thursday to our friends up north)

Everything is happening so fast I just want to sit down! My sister's wedding was yesterday - everything went well and we had fun. Have been watching her son over the weekend so mom and dad can have a brief respite and he's a bit of a handful but overall it's good... just realizing I'm very happy with 2 kids!!!

First set of movers come next week to take stuff to long term storage. Our main pack out is the following week, then it's off to Disney. I've managed to snag Be Our Guest for the group (since I'm up until all hours cleaning and organizing and stressing, might as well snag a rezzie or two).

Hope everyone is well and miss you all! Hoping to have some down time once the packing starts!!! :thumbsup2 :group hug: to everyone!!!

Anybody know of a good Aulani resort thread on here? I have a client looking at possibly doing a honeymoon there and I only know what's on the website! :-)

We did it - added our AOA night in January. So we're at nine nights with an AOA/AKL/GF/Poly split. The boys said they would rather add a night at the start even if it means a 4-resort split. It will be a value 24 hours - CS only and AOA. (My husband joins us for the Poly part only, so with three boys I may feel like I ran a marathon before I actually run the marathon!) Youngest asked if there is CL at AOA . . . um, no! Our first night is still holiday season - no discounts - so a perfect time to try AOA.

Wookie, hope you're having a great time!! Pas, keeping your husband (and you!) in our thoughts and prayers!

Wow! 4 resorts in 9 days :rotfl2: the most we've done is 3 resorts in 14 days, Pop arrival day, GF & YC split.
