As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Just Dropping By To Say Hi :wave2:Hope Everyone had a Wonderful Halloween :grouphug:

I thought I'd start with some of my advance dining plans and bring my not being able to make up my mind to that aspect of my trip. I've decided I want to try two or three restaurants that I've never been to before. Artists Point, Narcoossee's and Coral Reef. Also booked a dinner at Trattoria Al Forno.

There's a couple breakfasts I'm not sure what to do though. I'd love to go back to the Captain's Grill a second time (so I can try both the buffet and the chocolate waffles) But there's so many other places. But if I do the Captain's Grill twice then I can spend some more time by Storm Along Bay (will be during stay at YC/BCV)

I know this is the resort change thread, but sometimes I can't make up my mind which resort to have a meal at either lol.

We talk about way more than resort changing, and sometimes it doesn't even have anything to do with Disney. I have never eaten at Artists Point or Nacoossee's. We ate at Coral Reef on our last trip, and we all loved our food. Well except for my DH. Our teenage boys both had the steak, I had the mahi mahi, and the DH had the lobster pasta.

Well I have some good news on my trip. My DH handed me $500 tonight, which was the minimum I needed for my trip. Including buying Mickey ear Santa hats for my friend and I to have delivered at the SoG. I'm just debating whether or not I should buy them. I'm not big on wearing hats, and it would be $50 to go towards spending money.

Hi wookie,
You have to eat at Artists point someday. It's so good, and the restaurant is just beautiful. That was sweet of your dh. :goodvibes
I'm not big on hats, either. I'd probably be tempted with using it for spending money. ::yes::

We are back from everything. Disney was really great about our cancellations, which I appreciated.
The week was hard, but that was to be expected. The IT company where my brother worked chartered a bus for their employees and so many of them came.
His final resting place is a veterans cemetery nearby. The service there was very touching.
Hugs to all the RC friends. Your sweet thoughts and prayers were so appreciated. :grouphug:
You are in our thoughts, Ginny:grouphug:

Glad we helped :)

Just popping in for a brief minute!

GWYNNE - so glad the service was beautiful and so many turned out. Thinking of your family as you near the holidays. *HUGS*

So many changes with ADRs and FP+, I'm so over it all. I've had so many glitches and shed so many profanities at my computer screen - three times I have timed out in the middle of making FP times... how do you time out WHILE ACTIVE!

I haven't been on much because we are setting up everything for the move. Today is double digit dance for moving! Somehow it actually freaks me out more now that we're at 99 v. when it was in the 100s... TOO MUCH TO DO!

Hope everyone is well! Thinking of my RCers and hoping to be back on as Inlaw-mageddon approaches!!! *HUGS*

So I am set with the Poly but am now thinking of changing dates. Before my recent tripI booked for nine nights the same week to do food and wine and halloween. Food and wine was ok, but not what I expected. It was expensive and standing in the sun (or balancing food on my lap) to eat was not a thrill. Halloween decorations were only at MK and the party was SO crowded I gave up rides in order to see the horseman and fireworks.

The point of the nine night stay was to give me two possible Saturdays to book the oarisian breakfast, which still might not get me it.

I did not have a bad time on my last trip, but keep thinking I should maybe go early December instead as my only Xmas visit was rushed and I didn't get to see everything. Plus crowds might be lower. And they have decorations at all parks not just one.

I have a magical deal at the Poly so I do NOT want to lose my pricing. Not sure what to do.

I have a lot of fun planning my trip(s) to Disney for sure. And deciding whether or not to stay at the Poly is always a hoot (at least for me) What will probably happen is I will hang on to the Poly reservation until annual pass discounts for the time I'm going start and see what I can get and if I can get something. Then we'll see if the main lobby looks like it will be done and if not (and if I haven't been able to get an annual pass discount to my liking) I will see if AKL CL is an option (never had club level before, and having a morning coffee on my balcony watching the animals would be really cool). And if not I've still got my reservations as is (and The Polynesian Village even under construction is still The Polynesian village) It has location, the monorail, and a lot of happy memories. At the moment I haven't decided whether I want to enjoy familiar ones, or make new memories at a hotel I haven't tried yet. But like you said, planning is fun.

AKL was my only CL stay and I really liked it. At night they had black olive hummus and great crisp breads with hot apps and desserts. Every morning I had a croissant and fresh fruit for breakfast. The bus situation wasn't as I feared since there were no additional stops after Jambo. It wasn't like I got comfy and then 30 more people crammed in. Whatever I had when the door closed was how it would be until we reached the park.

There's a couple breakfasts I'm not sure what to do though. I just did Captain's Grill buffet a week ago and wasn't impressed. I was there at 7:30 opening and the floor was so sticky my shoes made sucking noises when I walked. Park debris stuck to them all day after. I was told I could get a fresh omelet made but there was no one around to do it nor anything that resembled an omelet station. Also couldn't find the juice that was supposed to be included. I had a dry biscuit, bland bread pudding, pineapple and not so crispy bacon for $18.99.

The next time .i ordered an omelet off the menu and it was really, really good. Of course the waiter gave me the hard sell on the buffet, but it cost more so it was a higher tip for him doing less and I wasn't falling for the "they can make you an omelet back there" story again.

Had the choco waffles and found them really cakey they were so thick (I like an airy waffle) and dry where there wasn't any mascarpone. The waitress nearly gagged but I made her bring me syrup to moisten them and since the waffle itself wasn't that sweet, it helped.

I like mid November to early december:thumbsup2

Both resorts and parks are all decked out:goodvibes

Weather is usually comfortable too:banana:

Hi ladies! Haven't checked in for a little bit but all is well! We're just gearing up for the holidays and yesterday we put up our tree. Crazy? Of course but we went for it and now it's one less thing we need to do.

Hope everyone is in good health and doing well! :)

Ginny

Sorry everyone, no exciting ch-ch-changes to our trip. Still at Poly :goodvibes I am considering doing a VWL resale....considering:rotfl2:

DH will be having next surgery right before Thanksgiving, between school and work things are :crazy2: but I try to lurk from time to time and pigletgirl we have started decorating too :lovestruc

Saw all the check-ins and thought I should do the same! Too many changes to explain in detail, but we've changed a ton. In January, we're 1 night AKL CL, 2 nights GF CL (but changed to SL) and five nights Poly CL. Changed ADRs in response to a birthday boy request for Chef Mickey's, changed FP+ a few times.

Changed spring break plans (both resorts and ADRs) about five times, and settled on WL CL for the beginning, then beach, then AOA at the end. I caved and decided to scratch the "resort only" idea and renew APs - I'll want to run a half marathon in 2016, so might as well get the APs again and enjoy park time during spring break. It all triggers ADR changes . . .

Yay for changes :) love love love all of your choices and it is almost January!!!!

Waiting to hear back from TA what changing to an early December stay will do to my magical deal. If it increases the price I am sticking with late October since it was ok just not quite what I expected for crowds and decor

Good luck:wizard:

Good luck:wizard:

Thanks!

They are running the same deal in December so I moved dates. Really excited. When I was there at Halloween my breath would catch seeing glimpses of the Xmas stuff going out and I sort of knew what .i should do.

My first and only Xmas stay was too short, so this time I hope to see more, especially since I am more familiar with Disney now.

Well I have seen the resort changing thread but never clicked on it...

Now that I have, and now that I have read the first few pages, I understand there are others like me! It's not that I'm indecisive, it's that there are so many good options that I have to change my mind from time to time!

My extended family and I have a Feb trip coming up.... We went back and forth with where to stay between all of the two bedroom suites to the treehouse villas and back around again. Finally my father decided on WBC. It's a bitter sweet decision really, I love to be on property so while I will totally miss that and all its perks I will be trying something new.

But Nov or Dec is totally at a monorail resort with just my 5 member family!!!! Love Christmas time in the world. Don't know which one yet so there's my first up in the air problem.... Leaning toward CR but dd who will be celebrating her 12 birthday likes the Poly. I haven't been to a deluxe since was 9 so I have no idea what to do!

Second thing I don't know yet is which pass to get in February! I know we're getting one so we can go back in Dec but which one is the question.

So thank you for letting me get all that out I will list my ADR changes later lol

:wave2: For us it's too early, but I never judge people on how early they put up their Christmas decorations since I kept mine up one year until St. Patrick's Day just because I it looked too pretty to put up.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that December doesn't increase the price.

:welcome: Have you thought about doing a split stay? If her birthday is at the end of the trip, you could start it out at the CR and then change to the Poly for her birthday.

I'm sorry I've been MIA, but life keeps finding more and more ways of getting even more insane. We moved my bil and nephew back into the house my bil shared with his now exwife. Then on Sunday, while on the way to buy the ingredients to make Le Cellier's mushroom risotto, I got into a minor wreck. No one was hurt. The other car just looked like someone slammed their car door into their car, like when someone parks too close to another car. My minivan just had a little minor damage to the area around the front passenger tire. The way my DH explained it to me was the plastic on my minivan met the metal on the SUV and the SUV won. When it happened, I called my inlaws to let them know I didn't know how long I would be. I told them I was fine and not to come up. Well luckily they didn't listen and brought my DH to me. When I first saw him, I'll admit, I dropped a "F" bomb (which he said he saw me say). I was just afraid he was going to yell at me. He still hasn't even raised his voice. He's just so happy the minivan is drive-able and no one was hurt. I didn't notice until today that the incident with the kid with the crazy mom and the accident both happened on the 9th. From now on, I will not drive on the 9th day of any month. It is obviously a bad day for me.

As far as the trip, in less than three weeks, I'll be in WDW!! Now the rest of the week, I just have to knit, take my minivan to the insurance companies place to see how much it will cost to fix it, and go see my doctor to see why I have had a migraine for the better part of two to three months.

:wave2: everyone

Wanted to say hello and hope everyone has a good rest of the week and stays warm.

Not much here - just tweaking with a few things (trying to work toward better times) and helping my sister as her wedding approaches. The next 10 weeks are crazy as my sister's Big Day, Pack-out, Disney, 10th Anniversary, and getting ready to move all fall in that window. YIKES!

As we close in on 30 days to my trip, I'm sure I will be on here freaking out with whatever spare moments I can find. I hope everyone's planning is going well :grouphug:
