As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hi ladies!

It's been busy around here. We have been dog sitting for some friends of ours and sadly they were in a pretty bad car accident and both are in ICU. The family who were watching their children had another family emergency so we've graciously opened our home to the children being watched until their family can get things organized. It's been a little nuts around here with a 5, 3, two 1 year olds. DD is loving all the activity! Truthfully I'm just :faint:...

As for the Disney front, not too much going on. We're getting to the 45 day mark here and I'm making sure everything is done.

Enjoying this peace and quiet before another productive day. Hope everyone is well! :goodvibes

I hope they are feeling much better soon. You all are very sweet to lend a hand. :goodvibes

How terrible. Sending prayers they both heal quickly. They are very lucky to have you in their lives, to be able to step in like you are.

Hope they heal quickly with no long term issues! And you are wonderful to help them!!

YAY for 45 days :cool1:

I hope they are feeling much better soon. You all are very sweet to lend a hand. :goodvibes
Thanks!

It's a pretty serious situation and I pray both parents have a complete healing so they can get home to their 3 adorable, incredibly well behaved little ones. The family that was watching them prior had their family member in a car accident as well and isn't expected to survive. They left town today to be with them. In both situations a driver was texting while driving. :sad2:

We have really enjoyed having them thus far. Here in a bit we're headed to the neighborhood park to burn off some energy before bed.

I'm so sorry. Something needs to be done about people texting while driving. It's causing way too many accidents and deaths. Heck, I don't even like to talk on my phone if I have to hold it. I had a wire so I could listen to music from my iPhone. I figured out, totally bu accident, that I could use it to talk to people on the phone with. Since I can't find the wire, I refuse to talk on my phone while driving.

I didn't want to put really good news with a response to something too serious. I booked my airfare to Atlanta!!! Since the airfare I had been keeping track of went up to just above $500, I had to make the sacrifice and go to Atlanta a day early. Which means we might arrive in Orlando a day early, but we still won't check into SoG until December 1.

Aloha all! Hopelessly behind but working to catch up!!! :wave2:

Finally back and settled in the Mid-Atlantic! The Wild West was fun but, man, am I glad to be back into what I know. While I do love my ILs, spending 3 of the last 5 weeks together has been a bit wearing and I think we were all ready for some time away... esp when the next time together involves the mouse!!!

We didn't make it to Estes Park or the major mountain areas, but did spend a day in Thermopolis, WY. DD is a dinosaur freak and loved looking at the fossils and we all had a blast swimming in the hot springs... def a worthwhile, relaxing trip.

DD had her 7th birthday while we were away and was bummed that it's not a 'major' milestone. So, I did what any good Disney momma does and told her that now she's old enough to ride alone and she was ECSTATIC! "YES! We can do single rider now!!!" That's my girl! When we got home, DH surprised her with the Elsa dress we managed to snag (after countless hours of stalking the Disney Store website) and she was in tears from joy... totally surprised and thrilled. She has been treating it reverently and is so excited when she read the note I got the E&A FP for Sept - "Now I can wear it to meet Elsa!!!" She is also taking the news about Japan well; lots of ups and downs with excitement and concerns but overall enthused.

We are waiting for our official orders and then we do the health screen which will pretty much be the last stepping stone in the process. Once that's done and we are approved, we're counting down until we blast off. Since we'll find out officially right around the beginning of September, we are going to get some pictures at EPCOT in Japan in front of the pagoda and torii (the big gate on the lake) and use that as the 'announcement' to everyone - we have only told immediate family and friends in case something changes... too hard to explain why things might change.

Other than that, just counting down to Disney! The lack of good internet connection drove me batty - I tried to change FP+ and dining a few times and just got frustrated. I'm thinking it's a sign to leave things alone but I can't help it!!! :joker:

Ok, looking ahead to 2015....

We've never travelled to Disney with an infant...we waited until the girls were 3 and 5 for their 1st trip, but we are excited for the adventure!! :cool1:

Advice?? :surfweb:

My friend just did WDW with 6, 4, 9 months and had a blast. She said biggest thing is to use Rider Swap and have a good stroller for the little one to nap and get out of the sun. Also, they had a babysitter come to the room for two PM EMH so mom and dad could go with the older kids and it worked really well! Enjoy!!!

You all are wonderfully amazing and bless you for helping out your friends! It's so sad to hear about so much tragedy but so amazing that you can jump in and help out in a time like this. *HUGS*

I'm off to try to get some sleep - the girls did great flying but I am exhausted from running through terminals and wrangling them with the time change. We are crashing with my folks for a few days (DH stopped by before he had to head out of town for work) so I'm hoping to just be lazy tomorrow. Will work to catch up and HAPPY CHANGING!!!! pixiedust:

Hi RCers. :wave2: I love everyone's last minute new trips. :cool1:

Yeah, I am thinking that the Yacht Club will be my first choice. I have 3 nights at BCV booked already and am thinking a split stay so I can enjoy the both of them. But just in case I have a list in case that is booked up when it comes time to book (and hopefully get a bounceback offer when I go this October) I'm thinking Grand Floridian SL club level is my next choice tho. That way if Trader Sam's does happen to be open I'm just a walk away. Course I'm very liable to chance my mind (which I haven't made up yet anyway, not completely) Isn't planning half the fun anyway? LOL
I think a YC/BC is kind of cool. :thumbsup2 Grand Floridian SL club level? Darned good call, too. :lovestruc

Every moment is precious. You are a good friend.

We did ASMu on our mini Christmas trip and it was totally fine. Of course we still crack up laughing about our room location...as far away as one could possibly be from ANYTHING  We called it our swamp view....because that's what we were looking at. The first thing Faith asked...."where's the balcony?" ;)

Heather, I think we had the same room at ASmu for our impromptu quickie trip. Do you remember big cowboy boots lurking nearby?. :joker: But as you mentioned it was peaceful and always a great value. This was my least favorite Value because of the poor execution of the theme IMO and also the CMs were not so magical. :sad2: Next time, I'd pick POP or ASsp. But for $67 I'd return to ASmu in a heartbeat! See, it's really all just the WDW Theory of Relativity. pixiedust:

Question for all: Do you all bring your own towels at values? Or just bring them from the room? I'm considering buying new fun towels for the boys, but still undecided.
I'd pick up new towels because the room towels are kind of small, and plus it's fun to shop for WDW. :goodvibes

Sounds like it was a great trip!! The internet connection drove me batty as well. Luckily, the DH and Joey have a different carrier than I do. If I couldn't get a signal on my phone, I would try one of their phone.

We are waiting for our official orders and then we do the health screen which will pretty much be the last stepping stone in the process. I'm glad they did so well flying. Hopefully you can get some sleep tonight and can be super lazy tomorrow.

Well, I just found out I have to go to work tomorrow with the hubby. Hopefully, I can get to sleep sooner than the 3 - 5 AM I have been falling asleep.

I am thinking maybe 2 quick, short trips (either 2015 or 2016 before DS turns 10), just me and one kid at a time. Maybe to celebrate their birthday or something...? And it could just be like a 3-4 day thing, 1-2 parks only. Hmmm...

Sounds fun making special trips with each if them. Something special that each will remember. My grandma did that with me and my brother. I will always cherish those special memories.

Pixar we spent one night at Pop last Aug, our arrival day. I had planned on a water park that day, then grocery shopping while I still had my rental car. We were returning it to the CCC before we checked into GF. And really, we didn't mind it at all. And $67 :cheer2:
No, I don't bring towels. No room in luggage, lol. Not that I overpack or anything :-)

We love Estes Park, Co! Such a fun place with little ones. Maybe next time you can make a quick visit. Glad to hear the girls did well flying. I firmly believe flying with little ones is exhausting no matter how smooth the travel day is. I say you deserve a chill out day tomorrow.:cheer2: After all is IS FRIDAY! :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great start to the weekend!

Happy Friday Folks!!!!

Pas...2 out of 5 packing for themselves ain't bad :thumbsup2 You must have this down to a science! Hope work has been treating you well, friend.

Piglet...I am truly sorry to hear that news. So very sad. But what a great friend you are  Hopefully things will improve for them. Keep us updated.

wookie... GREAT job snagging that flight!!! :yay: A day early is better than a day late ;)

dimn...Welcome back to real life :upsidedow! Glad y'all had a good visit. Sounds like your plans for Japan are coming along nicely:thumbsup2 My sister and her husband were over there for 3 years and loved it!! Bill and I visited and really liked it, also.

Magic...THAT's the room!! The cowboy boot was definitely lurking nearby. When we were searching for our room, we kept walking and walking and walking...the kids were like "Mom! Where the heck are you taking us?!" Stephen and I were literally cracking up laughing!

Sue...did you mention overpacking??! You??! Certainly not!

Nothing major going on here today. Have to get the nails done...they look  Maybe take the kids to see Planes. We're losing one tonight to a sleepover, so the house will be quiet  Of course it's super quiet now! Everyone's asleep, hubby is out of town....just me and Fox News:thumbsup2, and the laptop, of course;)

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

:goodvibes AHHHHH the WL :thumbsup2 It's all good! It goes quick, especially with summer and a W/D both places!! I am done with OT until fall ;) DH was talking a getaway in the Poconos (MIL has a house up there and work has been bad for him poor guy..) He forgot how close we are to our trip!!:cool1:

I hope they are feeling much better soon. You all are very sweet to lend a hand. :goodvibes

I'd pick up new towels because the room towels are kind of small, and plus it's fun to shop for WDW. :goodvibes

I've spent WAYYYYY too much shopping for our trip :rotfl:

THREE WEEKS!

TGIG Everyone!!

Wow, page 19! Missed everyone...That's what happens when you take a vacation, have your DS visiting, a quick trip to NYC, busy, busy at work and then trying to get things done around the house...

A small catch up ...

Hi all....just popping to in to say I had a lovely meet up today with our very own JanetB and family! Janet it was a lovely day and you captured my girls hearts. :flower3: can't wait to see you again in August! :hourglass

Jen,:flower3: what can I say sweetie? We were thrilled that you could join us in Niagara Falls for the day! Thank you so much for driving the 2 hours to meet up with us! And you know your girls already had my heart! Can't wait for August!

Janet when you get a chance my trip is actually 8/16 - 9/1. There I go adding on more days! :rotfl2:

Your wish is my command! :teeth: Got to get back to my RC duities!

The impromptu visit with JanetB is so cool!!!:cool1: And I am glad the girls are cool with the Mommy and Daddy trip, although I knew they would be!!!:goodvibes

Pas, I kinda sort of let something slip then tried to cover it up.. nope, the girls are too quick! but I was happy it all worked out!

Jenny: That's so great that you & Janet got to meet up.

And I'm so jealous of the adults-only trip. My DH & I very seldom go on adults only trips but I can never bring myself to book WDW without my DS. I feel so guilty just thinking about it. I really need to get over that! :rotfl2:

Amanda, it's very hard to leave the little ones.. Perhaps in a few years? My first adult trip was in 2009... while the parting was a little hard for Sam (and me) once I was gone DH said it was better AND she did have a full week of school, 6th grade activities and her Aunt coming to visit. It was all good!

Hi RCers! :wave2: Oh my, page 6 and I am just popping on here now. I shall hang my head in RC shame... :guilty: Glad to see the RC is humming right along, though. :thumbsup2 FB just doesn't cut it for me when it comes to RCing.

We just got back from NC and had a star spangled 4th. Good weather in the mountains and friends from Miami popped in for a visit. Now I am a Candlelight Processional planning fool, as always. So far, I've made 3 ADRs for Candlelight packages that will all be used. :lmao: I'm such a sucker for that show.:santa: I do wish more presenters were announced, though. Too much guesswork.

Hi ya Magic!! Oh, sometime you need to fill me in on your CP plans! btw it was great to catch up with you last week. :goodvibes

I'm thinking of doing CP this Dec ...... maybe the 5th but not sure. I'll need to see if I have travel friends and what dates they might be there. :rolleyes1

well I know this has changed somewhat ... :) still trying to put something together here.

Oh, fun for visiting with Janet!

Thanks for the pixiedust. DH might need it - if I see one more spreadsheet about 'possible' scenarios, I'm going to throw the mouse at him... and he says I go overboard in my planning!

Hi Dimndgal! Oh need to read more to see how your two trips are shaping up. And wow, congrats on Japan! Are you still planing a trip up to KOP?

Jen and Janet! How cool that you guys got to meet up!!! Janet in Canada, Jen in U.S.? How did it happen???

Nope, the other way around :) Jen drove down from Canada to meet up in Niagara falls.
And even though I said this on FB.. congrats on the baby boy news!!:cool1:
And yay on your latest RC!

Janet, you can add our 2015 dates ::yes::

BCV May 27-30
Fantasy Cruise May 30-June 6

Got it! Looks great heather! hope you had a blast in Disney! and it always great to read the RC thread and see your fabulous photos posted. :goodvibes

Finally read through the 9 pages of the new thread! Won't even try to respond to everyone though. :-)

Few quick things...LOVED WL!!! I don't think I can say that enough. DH liked it too and the kids lived the bunk beds. :-) perfect for our family! I would definitely book it again. I may even like it more than the Poly! We had pretty good luck with transportation there too. :-)

Krystal, glad you had a wonderful trip (I was thinking of you) My friend was there on the 4th and loved the fireworks too!

The Make Your Own Pasta bar or Salad Bar is amazing at POR. Even when we aren't staying there we've been known to stop by for it. Love the DTD boat too. And Bob Jackson show. :goodvibes

Sue, Sam got the pasta bar last year and loved it! And count me in on that Piano Bob love too! Hope your trip to Vancouver was wonderful. :goodvibes

Ginny, busy tweaking your ADRs? Always love catching up with you.

Kim, I know I glimpsed a scarf in the making ... which will be fabulous as always! Hoping any legal issues are straightened out.

Just got home from seeing Planes with DS. It was good. :-) Better than I thought it'd be!

Pretty big update: They were able to take the father off the ventilator and his head injuries are stable! He is recognizing his parents and acting appropriately. :cheer2: Doctors think he should make a full recovery.

The mom is coming along too. She had a large liver laceration that required two surgeries so she's been more unstable than her husband. They're going to keep her on the ventilator through the weekend and hopefully begin weaning it Monday morning. She has a long ways to go, but is healing appropriately.

The plan for now is that we'll have the kids until Monday at least. If things are looking more and more positive than one set of grandparents will come and pick them up. We're definitely keeping our knees bent and the kids busy! ;) Thank goodness for sprinklers, coloring books, movies and toys!

As for the other family, the person did pass away but thankfully they were able to donate organs and give other people a shot at life. I just find it so coincidental that two accidents happened within days of each other by t:)he same cause.

Very glad the weekend is here and DH will be here to help. Tomorrow I think we'll try and tackle the zoo.

Hope everyone has great start to their weekend.:)

So glad to hear that your friends are starting to improve. Continued prayers!

:wave2:

Pretty big update: They were able to take the father off the ventilator and his head injuries are stable! He is recognizing his parents and acting appropriately. :cheer2: Doctors think he should make a full recovery.

Good news for your friends. :thumbsup2

Heather wonderful pic. I hope some good rates come out for Jan at WL. Will have to see with budget. It's been such an expensive year, new roof, dental bills, car......ugh. Maybe POR. Lol. Good thing we love it there.
me over pack :scratchin. I should start laying things out :rotfl:

Janet been wondering where you were!! No my Vancouver Island trip was a bust  got over on the ferry, and was on our way until we got a flat, ugh. Had to be towed to nearest town, hotel overnight to wait till tire shop opened. Tire too damaged to repair, and husbands SUV has weird size tires nobody has in stock. So took ferry home that day :(
Time to start packing soon! Is Sam getting excited?

This thread is awesome. I am stunned to find such an understanding and perceptive group. My changing drives my wife nuts. She doesn't understand it's all for the greater good.

I think I've found this site at the tail end my spree of changes. Last change was the best; 2 nights in Cocoa Beach changed to 2 nights AoA. So we are in Orlando now Jan 2-11, have 2 nights AoA and then 7 nights at Floridays. Then 6 nights Treasure Island on the Gulf Coast. If I could I'd convince everyone (traveling with my brother and sister too) to spend those 6 days at Disney as well. But that looks like a hard sell.

Brilliant thread!
