AS Sports vs. POP - I CAN'T DECIDE!!!

We are booked at AS Sports for Springbreak (me and DS 14). Now he thinks POP might be good. I have to admit it does look really cute and I read somewhere they don't usually book large groups of people. I know AS Sports does and know of at least one group from our town going at the same time. But...I have heard some bad things about POP such as noise. I am thinking of the 50s building facing the water but I can't make up my mind. Someone help me please!!!!

We've never stayed at All Star Sports before, but we have stayed at the All Star Movies; and we've always enjoyed our stay!

We did a split stay for the 4th of July week between Pop Century and Wilderness Lodge. We stayed at Pop Century July 2-5, and we LOVED it!!! We were in the 60s bldg (the bldg with Mowgli & Baloo - be sure to look for the hidden Mickey) and our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the kiddy pool. We never heard any outside noise, and never heard our neighbors! Bus service was great - and the gift shop was really nice!

We'll be back at Pop Century for our Dec visit!! Have a great trip!

Thanks so much for your reply. I am seriously leaning toward Pop Century 50s building. I would love to have a view of the water. I don't think there is an extra charge for that, is there?

we have been going for the last 15 years during the winter and always stayed in a moderate last year tried the pop loved it bus was the same food court was better and the never heard any noise

I also love the Pop Century. I have stayed their twice. I think they are real similar to the All-Stars though. Last time I had a 1970's room overlooking the lake. It was great. Nice and quiet but still close to everything. The 1950's would be great too. Plus in the 1950's you might be able to see the Epcot fireworks at night. There is no extra charge for water view room there. The extra charges are for rooms in the 1960's - cause they overlook the main pool area. I would be afraid those rooms would be too loud. I defintley wouldn't pay extra to stay in them.

Cool Thread..I was myself wondering if there was a big difference between POP and ASinsert letter her. Can anyone provide some answers.

My biggest gripe against the ASxxs are the buses. Most of the time you share the bus between the 3 resorts, while at POP since they're a resort by themselves, they don't share buses.

I personally would pick POP or ASMo or Mu. I could never do ASSp just cause of the big giant Coke Cup on the side of the building. Just something about staying there that doesn't appeal to me at all.

I like the food court at POP very much. It's big, bright and very comfy booths and chairs. The AS food court seems to be too rowdy sometimes for me.

Why I like POP better -

1. dedicated bus service
2. frozen drink in snack bar (love that blue stuff!)
3. little shampoo bottles instead of dispenser at AS

We've stayed at POP twice now and never had a problem with noise. Don't get your hopes up about a water view - they won't guarantee that - but you may get lucky!

We'll be back there in Dec.

POP ROCKS!! we've stayed at ASSp and liked it... stayed at CBR and didn't like it... stayed at POP and loved it!! 50s buildings were a great location... lake-side means you'll most likely be able to see some of the higher epcot fireworks at night... we had no noise troubles at all (we were on fourth floor) except for the kids in the next room, problem was, they were MINE! LOL! if you switch, i'm sure you will like it!

I would lean towards POP because of the buses. Not having to share a bus system I would think is a big plus.

Hi, We hav enever stayed at a value resort so can't give you any advice.

However, after reading all the Pop threads, I am going to book the 50's section with lake view at Pop for college DD and GF for their Jan. trip.

She really needs value for every dollar spent and Pop sounds good. New bldg, dedicated bus service, decent food court and it looks cheerful looking and cute. Safe as possible, too.
