Recap: me, 25, and Greg, DBF, 29 (a disney first-timer).
Since we were exhausted from getting up at 4AM the day before, we compromised on a 7:45AM wake up call (this sounded REALLY late to be waking up at WDW, but given how slow the MK was yesterday, I didn't really think EPCOT would be super crowded today).
I thought it would be funny to get a Mickey wake up call for Greg. Well....the phone rang REALLY LOUDLY, so Greg JUMPS out of bed, says "hello?", hangs up, and mutters "I'm gonna squash that mouse!" (This has become our favorite trip story to re-tell). I told him he shouldn't say that too loudly around here because they might kick him out.
Ate breakfast in our room (had stopped at PUblix to buy cereal, juice, milk and muffins yesterday). and then took the bus to EPCOT. It was my first ride on WDW bus transportation. We waited about 5 minutes for a bus to arrive. Got to EPCOT. Talk about empty. There was hardly anyone in the place. We walked onto Spaceship Earth, then walked onto Test Track. Hit Universe of Energy (hadn't seen the updated version with Ellen--I liked it much better than the old attraction). Went to Wonders of Life...Cranium Command had "technical difficulties", which was a shame b/c it's my favorite thing to do in WoL pavillion. Saw "the Making of Me" for the first time. Kind of cute in a cheesy Disney sort of way. I saw lots of kids coming out and was wondering what kinds of discussion THAT was going to spark! From there, we headed to World Showcase, and had lunch at the Cantina de San Angel. It had gotten quite warm and humid, but we were doing okay going into and out of the pavillions. Coincidentally, hit China just as the big bus full of characters pulled up. Greg's favorites--the Pooh gang--were aboard, so we got lots of pictures with Pooh and Tigger, as well as with the Mouse himself!!! For a skeptical first-timer, Greg really seemed to enjoy the characters' banter.
After a quick tour around World Showcase (saw the American Adventure show--which always gives me chills, and particularly this time in light of recent events!) we took the bus back to ASsp for a dip in the quiet pool. Then a shower, and then we drove our car to the Boardwalk where (shh...don't tell) we parked and walked back over to EPCOT. Had dinner at the food court in the Land, then did the Imagination Pavillion. LOVED the 3-D movie! ALthough I could have done without the mouse thing! Sent e-mail postcards to our friends and family. Then we sat down for Illuminations. For some reason, it wasn't as impressive as I'd remembered it being. Possibly because we were sitting on the bridge by international gateway and the smoke and ash was blowing on us! Walked back to the boardwalk, where we strolled for a bit (just a bit, as I was getting a blister on my toe!) and got some ice cream and then drove back to the hotel.
