what were some favorite/most memorable stocking stuffers that you received? I was at Wal-Mart today, perusing the aisles, and found some items I remembered from my youth that I'd get in my Christmas stocking and always looked forward to. Among them were Bonne Bell Lip Smackers and Love's Baby Soft (do they even make this stuff anymore?).

What were some of your favorite stocking stuffers as a kid?

walnuts, three musketeer bars, hershey kisses, bonne belle lipsmackers, giant perfect orange and apple

wind-up toys, hair do-dads, jewelry (not necessarily expensive stuff), chocolates

Always nuts and fruits and candies...an apple and an orange, walnuts or pecans (which we never ate) in their whole shells (hmmm, perhaps that's why we didn't eat them, no nutcracker!) and traditional Christmas hard candy. Usually some money, and a few "grooming" type thigns like lip gloss or soaps.

My mom always found the strangest things for our stockings...usually lots of wind-up toys or those toys you push in a button and they spin or spark. One year, she found a toy shop that made all kinds of wood toys, so we got a lot of those. The weirdest stocking stuffer was a wind-up mouse that looked just like a real mouse. My DSis opened hers first and had to suppress a squeal. The thing hops around when you wind it up, and yes, my mom still has at least one. We also always got a big bag of M+Ms, lip balm...our stockings were always stuffed to capacity with things hanging off them attached by string. But the most memorable things were the funny toys.

I remember getting perfume. There were two I liked: Exclamation and Chantilly Lace.
I remember wearing the Chantilly Lace on DH's and my first date. (we were 16 at the time) They still sell it and I smelled some the other day in Walgreens and it brought back a flood of memories. :)

We always got the StoryBook Life Savers and a cheese assortment from the booth in the mall which is a well known place that sells cheeses, sausages etc...I just can't think of the name of it right now, anyone?? That will drive me crazy all night unless someone posts it!

I also got the loves baby soft and I know it might be weird but every year my daddy put a slinky in my stocking...... I still remember that even though I am grown and he is gone.

Are you talking about Hickory Farms?

The thing I remember most as a teen was a rolled up Seventeen magazine. I was so excited the first year I got it that my mom put one in my stocking every year after that (until I was too old for it). When we were little she used to put little wind up toys in my brother's and my stockings.
