We are trying it in October and look forward to it. We had a really bad meal at Flying Fish last week, so we won't be going back there again.

We have always loved Artist Point and have dined there many times. The dining room is lovely with floor to ceiling windows that give it an airy feel. The murals on the high walls definitely make a statement.

Despite the summer heat on our last visit in August '09, I tried the smokey portobello soup. It was heavenly. I am a huge fan of buffalo and the sweet potato accompaniment was rich and not overly sweet. My Dsister had the mussels and the beef. Everything was worthy of its signature status and the server was very professional. When our kids were younger, they too enjoyed their meals.

I find the restaurant to be sophisticated, but not stuffy. i have worn both dressier clothes and "park" clothes when we were running behind schedule. Each time we were treated as special guests.

I have heard the chef has changed and I am seeing some subtle changes on the current menus. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. The new offerings seem to offer a new twist on the Pacific Northwest menu.

People's opinions are subjective. As a measure, California Grill is our absolute favorite restaurant on property. We also enjoy Jiko, Flying Fish, Kona Cafe, and Le Cellier. We like adventurous flavors and enjoy quality over quantity. Food snobs we are not; we like what we like. :goodvibes

Hope you find this helpful. A visit to the WL is enjoyable in itself!

So very good! We ate there last fall and it was fantastic. I had the grilled buffalo with a cherry compote and it was delish. The mushroom soup was good too. Dh had wild boar and thought that was great. It was quiet and elegant there. The service here was outstanding. Our favorite signature!

I tried it for the first time on my last trip and loved it! I had the Copper River Salmon, which unfortunately I think they only have a few weeks out of the year (we were there in mid-May and they had just gotten it), but it was the best salmon I've ever had. I'm sure their normal salmon must be delicious as well. We also had a side dish of the sweet potato/hazelnut gratin, which was rich but very good as well. Overall I'd really recommend this restaurant, I'd heard some mixed things about it before going but I'm so glad we decided to go there anyway. It's pricy, but definitely worth it I thought, both for the food and atmosphere.

The salmon was good, the mac and cheese side was the best mac and cheese I've ever had in my life, and my wife really liked the apple cobbler. Everything else was "okay". Nothing was bad. Overall Cali Grill is MUCH MUCH better. I would recommend that instead if you can get the ADR, but AP is still decent. I also agree the decor is very unique as well, and is worth seeing at least once...

It used to be my favorite restaurant at Disney, but it's now at the bottom of the list. I found the food and the service declining as years went on. The last visit finished it for me.

To start, we came in exhausted from the Parks and were told by the front desk that we had to be "dressy casual" to eat in the restaurant. We went to the room, showered, and changed and came back down. Sure enough, there was a sign at the front of the restaurant that said the same. Inside, was a different story. Everyone was dressed in shorts and tank-tops. If you're going to set a standard, then enforce it. Otherwise, don't bother.

One member of the group had a dairy allergy. He told the waiter that, but was served salad with cheese. He returned it. He was then served a baked potato with cheese. He returned it. They said they couldn't get rid of the cheese, but they'd bring him something else. So they brought him risotto- which is made with cheese. When he returned it, the chef came out and literally began yelling at us. We were like, "What don't you understand about no friggin dairy!?!"

Sorry... there is no way (ever) that the chef should come out and become confrontational with a guest.

I can eat anything, but my food was only fair. Nothing impressive, and certainly not worth the price.

They used to be great, but it's obvious management and kitchen staff has changed. Avoid it.

Other than that, your list is great. I'd also try Kouzzina. Some people dislike it, but I've been there twice (once with some very picky eaters) and everyone loved it. Iron Chef Kat Cora did a great job there.

I'm curious to know when people who had bad service went. I've been reading a lot of negative AP reports, unattentive waitstaff, uncooperative cooks, quality of food going down etc.

I went in Oct 08 and it was wonderful. Great food (had the buffalo with roasted fingerling potatoes, and the double chocolate cheesecake for dessert) great waiter, fairly busy night but not loud and never felt "neglected" by the waiter. He even brought the chef out when the only response I could give to "How was everything" was a blissed out face and a thumbs up.

I'm not sure exactly when I had the bad visit. I'm fortunate enough to get to Disney about twice a year, and the trips sort of get confused sometimes. I'm pretty sure it was summer 2008 though.

We love Jikos it is always our first pick for a special meal. this time with the dining plan we also visited Artist Pointe...everything we had was very good, my husband had the salmon...that night we were there. there was a very large family party more than 20 and we still got our share of attention from the staff. Most people were in dress casual but I did see some people in regular summer clothes..we were just there about 6 months ago. and our meal was a later evening meal. Hope that helps you decide...either way hope it is fun for all of you.

You really have a great list!

The last couple of times we have gone October 2008 & 2009 to Artist Point it has really declined from the prior years. After last year's experience, we are not going back for a while-you can read about it in my review at the bottom. To us it has been mainly a service issue. With the exception of the beef tenderloin, the food is still great, however just not impressed by the waitstaff performance.

However two parties could have different experiences at any restaurant...so I always give a place 2 chances

DH and I went to Artist Pointe for Valentine's Day this year, and our experience was a good one.

The food was simply amazing. I'll add my vote for the mushroom soup being one of the best things on property, and DH's buffalo was absolutely succulent. The atmosphere was lovely - the tables were spaced far enough apart to allow a measure of privacy, and the views are beautiful. It was a lovely, elegant dining experience.

The wait staff was adequate. I can't rave about them. We went to Yachtsman last week and the staff made our meal into an experience to remember. The folks at Artist Pointe didn't do that. Our waitress was efficient and pleasant. She brought our orders promptly and checked in with us; the service was what I would expect at a more mundane restaurant outside the world. It was good, but not special. The folks at Yachtsman were very, very special.

I would recommend Artist Pointe without hesitation. Heck, I'm dying to go back just for the soup. Nom. The food is well worth the price, but don't expect the staff to earn more than the standard Tables in Wonderland tip.

We dined there in April 2008 and everything was outstanding. We were a party of 4 and each ordered a different appetizer, entree and dessert, and we all loved our own and eachother's meals. Dessert was the weakest part of the meal, for sure. Ironically, the entree we liked the least was the signature dish, the cedar plank salmon. It was cooked perfectly, but we weren't crazy about the preparation on that particular day. The standouts were the smoky mushroom soup, the buffalo, beef filet, and grilled scallops. The atmosphere was lovely, very quiet and beautiful, casual elegance without being overly fancy. We also had excellent service. To be fair, none of us have special dietary concerns, so the chef didn't have to come out and yell at us ;). That story is RIDICULOUS, by the way! Management needed to hear about that one.

We ate at Artist Point on Monday, June 7th 2010. It was really special meal from beginning to end. Our server, Osiris was perfectly on point. Our appetizers and entrees were both spectacular-I had the cedar plank roasted salmon, medium rare and it was perfect. My appetizer was the Prince Edward Island Mussels, which were sooo good! The broth was succulent and full of shallots, and the portion was huge. I would highly recommend Artist Point. :goodvibes:goodvibes

We ate at Artist Point on Christmas Day and we were not impressed, not impressed at all.

The service was poor, the food so so.

Regular dining plan is two credits, I get that much. :)

What would it cover? Just an entree, desert, and non-alcoholic beverage?

We were there in January and had a lovely meal. My salmon was very good (not amazing) but we both loved the wild boar and the portobello mushroom soup. The cobbler was nice but nothing too special. Our waitress was very good and the wine selections that went with each course were excellent! We loved the atmosphere--the decor is lovely and the there is plenty of elbow room. I never felt I was eating with another group the way I do at CG.
AP is definitely on our "do again" list.

I dined there about 2 weeks ago with my boyfriend. Interestingly, we both share the same birthdate and chose to have our birthday dinner there. I can't begin to say how 'above and beyond' our server went.

She brought us each a complimentary champagne cocktail, in between our apps and entree - she brought us an amuse bouche portion of soup, and then on top of that ...she brought us both complimentary desserts. :goodvibes

We certainly did not expect any of that, but it really made a special night. Also, our menus were printed with "Happy Birthday" notes at the bottom. Then, to top it off she heard me talking about my 2 kids who were exhausted from a long day at the parks and so she gave me 4 mickey straws to take back with me to the room to give them.

It was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish...and the food was wonderful. I would go back again in a heartbeat.
