LOL, I remember Winky, Tippy and similar, but not the girlie cartoons. They used to be on the matchbook covers you’d get in a dive bar.

I had seen the turtle/pirate ones. Drew the turtle. They pretty much called my mom to see if I should sign up for art school. She didn't know I sent it in. It probably cost as much as a session in collect 1-2K so she turned them down. I don't think she even let me talk to them. I question if there really was just a contest though.

Imagine if it was a strange scam just to collect millions of turtle/pirate drawings from all over North America.

I actually looked them up, they closed down in 2018. It was only a home correspondence course. I think I recall receiving a phone call after submitting, but my mom intercepted it. "No Mysterian of mine is going to doodle for dollars!" (Some artistic license used in this memory)

Surprisingly, Charles Schulz was a student and later an instructor.

I sent one in. I got a form letter back with lots of info about taking their courses. I actually wanted my drawing back, which they didn't include. I'm sure it went right in the trash.
