Need a real nice restaurant this coming trip and these two stand out as distinct possibilities.

Which one is the better restaurant in terms of food, service and value? Oh and we have a picky DD so we must be able to accommodate her as well.

you are gonna get a lot of differing opinions on this one. we have dined at both. both are excellent, service was wonderful, and value was probably good for both. as far as having a picky one w/you, i might lean toward artist point. and if you have never seen the lodge, this is an excellent opportunity! have you looked at the menus~both for adults and children? whichever one you chose, you will not be disappointed! enjoy! :teleport: :earboy2:

Tough choice, both are excellent in terms of food and service. It might have to go to other intangibles. We've found parking to be easier at Wilderness Lodge and the Lodge itself is worth exploring. On the other hand the view from the CG is outstanding if you're seated near a window. Either would be glad to tailor things for your daughter.

I doubt you'd go wrong with either choice.

Another Vote For AP.
Both had great food ..
But we liked the Atmosphere at AP Better ... loud at CG.

Both are excellent. Artist Point, however, is much quieter. The CGs's spectacular view often draws guests who wouldn't ordinarly eat at this type of high-end restaurant, and it can get pretty darn crazy in there, especially when the fireworks start.

Have you considered Jiko at AKL? We enjoyed both CG and AP (and I agree with the comments of all the posters above), but Jiko was HANDS DOWN our fav. They have a fabulous kids menu - more extensive than many at the World - and wonderful food.

If you stick with CG or AP, however, you won't go wrong. Both are excellent. CG has great sushi and flatbreads - if you are into either (as well as many, many more dishes). AP is has a wonderful salad and great meat/fish dishes.

Whatever you decide, have a magical time!

I would second the Jiko vote. :) We've eaten at California Grill, and while the food was very good, we didn't really enjoy the atmosphere. It was very loud and crowded, and waiting for our table was awful b/c we were squished in with so many ppl in the lounge area! Our service wasn't really that great, either. And, um, has anyone else noticed that the light fixtures look like cockroaches? That kind freaked me out. :earseek:

Even though the menu at AP doesn't really appeal to us personally, if Jiko doesn't appeal to you I'd vote for AP. We stayed at WL on our last trip and AP seemed like a very nice, relaxing place to enjoy a meal. I loved the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired style of the restaurant, especially the stained glass windows!

We prefer Artist Point over CA Grill. Artist Point is always wonderful..food and service. CA Grill, some good items on the menu, nice wine list, overall the meal is overpriced for what it is.

I prefer the CG over AP. I have meals at CG, but have had just so-so meals at AP. I won't go back to AP again. FWIW, I also like Jikos in that price range as well as the Yachtsman's Steakhouse. Narcoossee's is also very good for a little less.

CG is consistently the best food we have had at WDW (great winelist - including by the glass). In addition, the wait staff is generally very experienced, knowledgeable and nice. Although Iwould also suggest you go over to WL for a look (it is a great place), a view from CG looking down at the MK at night is unbeatable.

Artist Point hands down. I found CA Grill to be a bit over rated. Crowded, noisy, sushi was sub-par, ginger was dry. Service was good but I rank CA Grill #7 on my list of top Disney eateries.

We did both of these restaurants in Decmeber... AP was wonderful, nice atmosphere, excellent service and meals.

CG - the food was very good but I hated the atmosphere, it was a zoo up there, people all over the place, standing waiting, noisy, kids running - you had to yell to have a conversation.

So I would say if you want a peaceful dinner pick AP, if you want a noisy, busy dinner pick CG.

Food was great at both

Coming from a picky eater, I would strongly recommend the California Grill. It was very relaxing and the views are amazing. I went for dinner in 2003 and it was the best meal I've ever had on property. Found the staff to be great and did not find it very loud at all. Make sure to request a table by the window.

Another vote for CG. I find the food & atmosphere superior, but not much, to AP, but the view at CG takes the cake. AP is relaxing and CG is more upbeat, so it all depends on your mood for dinner. Oh well, you'll just have to try them both!
