What is this restaurant like? I want to take my sister there for a nice meal, where we both can get dressed up and enjoy ourselves, I saw this on TV and thought the Buffalo Steaks sounded wonderful! Can I have some reviews please. Thanks!

You will not be disappointed, this is the wife and mine's absolute favorite
sit-down restaurant at Disney.

She always orders the Salmon, I get the Buffalo Sirloin (make sure you order
it medium). The setting is very nice at the Wilderness Lodge, see if you can
snag a window table overlooking the courtyard area.

We had our 10 anniversary dinner here last summer and it was the highlight
of the trip.

We've also enjoyed some really great dinners here!!! The food is always really good - and the berry cobbler dessert is awesome!!!

I definitely recommend getting an ADR for Artist Point!!!

Just be careful if you dine here. You will want to go back every time you return to Disney. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We also think it's the best. one of the reasons we stay at the WL.

We had our rehearsal dinner there and all our family and friends loved it. The buffalo is definitely worth trying.

Artist Point is the best restaurant at WDW. Have a great time.

One of my favorite! Although on our last visit our waitress was very lacking, the food was still wonderful. Everything on this menu is great.

Artist Point was always a favorite of DH and mine,
we havent been in almost 2 years, but are going in May and Artist Point is on the list :)
DH has had the buffalo many times, it's very good

Artist Point is a great restaurant. We've eaten there twice (just my dh and I!). The food is wonderful, service is very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is nice (simple, but elegant).

The last time we ate there, in May of 04, they offered a nice Chef's Selection menu. It was 3 courses for a fixed price...I'm sorry I can't remember how much it was, but it was a good deal! You got a 1/2 order appetizer from the list, a full entree from the list, and a full dessert from the list. The Smokey Portabello Mushroom soup is to die for...it is AWESOME! My dh had the buffalo and raved about it. I had the filet mignon and it was perfect. For dessert, he got the berry cobbler and I had the coffee 2 ways, (or was is 3 ways? can't remember!)...both desserts were very good...but I liked the cobbler best!

Enjoy!!

This is my favorite place to eat. We have been there twice. The first time was with DH, DS, DD and myself. They meal, service and atmosphere was the greatest. I had never had Buffalo before, so I ordered it knowing that if I didn't like it DH and I would switch. Well it was amazing, didn't have to switch!!!! The next time DH and I just went alone for our anniversary. Had to have the Buffalo again. But when our waitress found out that we were in WDW for our anniversary, she brought us out this chocolate sampler for dessert and on the plate written in chocolate was "Happy Anniversary". It was such a wonderful touch to our magical night. We haven't eaten there since 2003 and now that DVC'ers get the dinning plan, we will definately be going back this year!!!!! pixiedust:

My wife and I make it a point of never missing AP when we visit the World. Of course, we usually stay at VWL, so that makes it easy!

First, the restaurant. With a little bit of searching online, you can find a few pics of the restaurant. It has an elegant, laid-back ambience, fitting for a Northwest-themed restaurant and lodge. If you can, try to get a window seat as it offers views outside the building toward the lake. Though it is a signature restaurant and the dress is listed as business casual, you will find the occasional parks attire clad diners. I have seen both the quintessential black cocktail dress and jeans on the same evening. However, for the most part, patrons wear nice slacks, shirts, dresses, and even blazers. You won't feel out of place dressing up, especially if you make a later ADR when the restaurant usually has fewer kids. We have taken our young daughter there before, and they do a great job of catering to them both with service and the kids' menu, but anymore we prefer to leave her at Cubs' Den and enjoy an adults night out.

Then there's the service. You will find the occasional negative comment about the service which is true about any restaurant, but by and large the reviews are highly complimentary of the servers. We have had great experiences there. Not only have our servers been diligent, but they are knowledgeable as well about such things as the wine list, wine pairings, and ingredients. On our first trip, my wife and I decided to do the wine flight wherein you choose three wines to be served with various courses of your meal. We were having a hard time deciding between a few, so our server brought out the bottles in question and gave us free tastes to better allow us to make a choice. That type of service is absolutely topnotch. . .and smart. She also treated our daughter with genuine friendliness, as well as treating us as valued patrons. Yes, she got a huge tip.

Of course, what good is ambience and service without having the food around which to build them? On that point, AP again delivers. Honestly, we haven't had everything on the menu because a) it changes slightly on occasion and b) we are so taken with our favorites. That being said, we've yet to have a bad meal there. Their top appetizer is undoubtedly the smoky portobello bisque--it's amazingly tasty and pairs well with any number of light red wines. They used to have venison spring rolls which were superb, though I believe those are no longer offered. Their frissee salad is also highly recommended.

Of course, their signature entree items are the cedar plank salmon and buffalo filet--both are excellent. If you happen to be at WDW after the first run of Copper River salmon in Alaska, then I'd definitely recommend the salmon, though the price usually increases since those salmon command heftier dollars. Regardless, the salmon dish is done very well--the fish is neither too dry (a common mistake in many restaurants) nor undercooked. It pairs very well with an Oregon pinot noir. My personal favorite is the buffalo. It is among the best I've had anywhere. Honestly, if you haven't tried buffalo, you owe it to yourself to try it. Were you blindfolded and give the meat to eat, I doubt you could tell the difference between it and a regular filet. It's not gamey at all, just tastier somehow. As another has mentioned, due to its leaner nature, anything other than medium will render the meat tough. I personally prefer medium rare, as even with medium you run the risk of the meat being overcooked. A heavier merlot, syrah, or cabernet should do well with this dish. (For the record, the wine list is commendable, made up of some of the Northwest's top wines.) There are other entree items which are very good, but these two are the best known and most well-loved, it seems.

Finally, there is dessert. The top dessert is likely the berry cobbler, though all the others are good. To top it off, AP actually serves good coffee. They brew it via a French press right at table side, and it's strong, rich, and aromatic. It's a great way to finish your meal. I hope this helps convince you that it would be a great place to take your sister. Bon apetit! paw:

I've heard that Buffalo is leaner, and not "gamey" however, I know that I had a 'buffalo burger' once... its been awhile.... in a Chicago Restaurant... I really didnt care for it... BUT since it was long ago... and every review I've read about the Buffalo sirloin is so good... I'm so tempted... what if... what if I didnt like it?

Wonder if they have samples of Buffalo?? :rotfl:

Thanks for posting the question, thanks for all the positive responses!! Esp the Pinot with the Salmon!! pixiedust:

The buffalo is not gamey at all. It isn't a 100% exact replica of any cut of beef but, IMO, it could be just another cut of beef...I mean in the same way ribeye differs from a strip or a filet the buffalo differs from these.

I always have mine cooked M-Rare which is what the chef recommends, I think and who am I to argue with the chef?

Don't forget the smokey mushroom soup. I am not a soup eater, heck I don't even like soup very well but this soooooooo good!

Enjoy AP it is one of the best three or four spots at WDW in our book.

I love Artist Point. The cedar plank salmon and berry cobbler are great. Service has always been good for us, and it has always been a relaxing dinner.

Like sleepydog25 said, the Copper Run salmon is great if you're there during that time. We were last year and DH and I loved our salmon.

The Buffalo fillet tastes a lot like steak but better. I was hesitant and a little scared to order this. DH talked me into it. Wow! So good. As other posters said I would not get this more than medium rare. Medium and more done leaves the buffalo very tough and chewey.

Mushroom Soup is so great.

Great wine list. They have a special thing where you can order like four wines. One for each course. It's small glasses of wine. That way you can have wine with each course and not get too much of a good thing.

Beautiful gorgeous Arts and Crafts/Mission style restaurant.

Enjoy!

I am SO excited now. My husband and I made reservations for Artist Point for dinner and I LOVE Buffalo meat. We used to live in Montana and we ate buffalo steaks and burgers all the time and now we live down south and it is so hard to find. It is so nice and tender with not a lot of fat on it. MMMMM. :cool1:

Never been, but the pork chop and mac-n-cheese sound so good. Any reviews of this entree?

I ordered the salmon the last time we were there, YUMMY.

One of my friends ordered the pork chop, I did taste it and it was juicy and wonderfully seasoned.
