My family has APs to the World and since we live fairly close in SC we have been on several trips this year. I usually lurk obsessively on the dining reviews without posting, but there were a few interesting components to our dining this trip that I thought might benefit other DISers.

Thursday, October 13th
We had dinner for the first time at Olivia's. We has just arrived and had not even checked into our hotel yet. The kids were starving and tired from the 6 1/2 hour ride. DH got the chipolte pork chop with smoked mac and cheese and had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. He said the pork chop and mac and cheese were very good, the flourless chocolate cake was a little more regular cake-like than we anticipated. Usually, flourless chocolate cake is dense and closer to a brownie consistency. It was okay, but not spectacular. I had the chicken with mango glaze with roasted potatoes with the banana bread pudding sundae for dessert. The chicken and potatoes were awesome, the potatoes had a garlic vinaigrette on them and were really yummy. The banana bread pudding was great, DH and I actually ended up sharing this. We have had the banana bread french toast for breakfast at Olivia's and it is smoking good, definitely worth the trip to OKW, so I knew what my dinner dessert would be as soon as I made the ADR. DS had chicken nuggets and fries and DD had a grilled cheese and fries. We would have dinner at Olivia's again. Dinner was good, it wasn't crowded, and service was good.

Friday, October 14th
Breakfast - As we were staying at the WL we had breakfast from Roaring Forks. DH and I had a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant with hash browns. The croissant was fine, but the hash browns were pretty cold. DS had the chocolate chip mickey waffles and DD had apple splices. The chocolate chip waffles were really, really good. I had to have a few bites!

Lunch - We had lunch at Le Cellier. DH had the house burger and fries, which he really enjoyed. I regretted not getting it myself. I had the fairly new tenderloin skillet. It had tomatoes, onion straws, mushrooms, and blue cheese. It was good, but it didn't come close to the burger in enjoyment. DS and DD both had pasta.

As a snack, I picked up several of the salted caramels from Karamel Kuche. These are so out of this world good. They were well worth the trek over the entire World Showcase. They also traveled well and I am still enjoying them at home.

Dinner - We had a reservation at Ohana. We arrived at the Poly and found the waiting area packed, but we only waited about 10 minutes. I love the various meat options at Ohana, but in the past I have been plagued by server issues. Not so on this night! We had the best waiter I have ever had here in Toan. He took care of everything, but he was unobtrusive and efficient. DH, who has never really enjoyed Ohana because of the saccharin sweet entertainer and irritating servers, really, really enjoyed this experience. All of the food was so good! The pork loin was a little dry, but everything else was just spot on. The chicken and steak were so tender and juicy. The shrimp were amazing! The noodles and veggies were good, the pot stickers and wings were good and the bread pudding was as good as ever.

Saturday, October 15th

Breakfast - We had breakfast at Roaring Forks. DH, DS, and I had mickey waffles. I had the strawberry and cream waffles, DH had the pecan and maple butter waffles and DS had the chocolate chip waffles again. All three were so good! DD had grapes.

Lunch - We grabbed a quick lunch at Backlot Express. DH had the turkey and cheese sandwich and fries. He enjoyed his sandwich. I had the angus bacon cheeseburger with fries. The bun was really hard so I ate the patty with the bacon and cheese. DS and DD split the adult nugget/fries combo. The best part of lunch were the "to go" items we had picked up at Starring Rolls. DH and I split the Red Velvet cupcake. We have had this cupcake before, and it is out of this world good!! I mean please do yourself a favor and pick one of these bad boys up. You will not regret it. DS and DD split an M&M brownie and they really enjoyed it as well.

Dinner - We were originally booked for dinner at Jiko, but due to Disney fatigue we changed our ADR to Artist Point. There were two signatures that we had not tried, Artist Point and Narcoosee's. We are now left with Narcoosee's and I hope to check that one off of my list in December. Artist Point did not disappoint. It is beautiful inside the restaurant. The decor is fairly simple, but it has an understated elegance to it. The views of the grounds of the WL are breathtaking. It is easy to forget that you are in central Florida. I have a sweet tooth, so we skipped appetizers in favor of desserts. The sourdough bread with black sea salt butter was so very good. It would be so easy to overeat this bread! DH and I both chose the same entree, one that we have not seen online anywhere. We had the airline chicken breast with pumpkin fettuccine, cranberry jelly, and pumpkin seed pesto. The chicken was served in a broth and this entree was perfection on a plate. It is a really elegant fall dish that I believe is meant to conjure the combined tastes of the usual components of a Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Every aspect of the dish worked and the taste combinations were pheonomenal. I love anything pumpkin and I loved, loved the pumpkin fettuccine. For dessert DH had the chocolate indulgence(valhrona chocolate with chocolate ganache, chocolate salted ice cream, and amarena cherries). He liked this and compared it to cherry cordials. I had a new fall dessert, the apple upside down cake with sweet and sour caramel and brown sugar ice cream. I love all apple desserts and this was so very good. The cake was nice and moist, the caramel flavor helped mute the sweetness and the ice cream just pulled the whole dessert together and made it pop. DS and DD had pasta and sundaes for dessert. Please do yourself a favor and give Artist Point a try. I know the reviews are somewhat varied here, but our service was great and the food was so very, very good. The menu offerings did not feel cookie cutter at all. I felt there was creativity and inventiveness at work at Artist Point.

I'm going to take a break and finish the reviews up tomorrow. I have two full days to go!

Sooooo happy to see a positive review of Artist Point! It's my favorite Disney restaurant, largely for the innovativeness and seasonality of the menu - that fall chicken dish sounds like something I would absolutely love (pumpkin fettuccine?! what an awesome idea :worship:). Their buffalo and salmon are also wonderful. :cloud9:

Also glad that you had a great experience at Ohana. From our own personal experience, it can be extremely hit or miss, but when it's a hit, it's such a fun and delicious evening. :goodvibes

Roaring Fork's waffles are awesome. The strawberry and orange-whipped cream waffles especially stand out to me.

Finally, I agree with your Le Cellier assessment. The burger is supposed to be wonderful (I've never had it myself), but the beef and potato skillet let me down. Their mushroom filet is another great option (a bit pricey, but an excellent value when using 1 DDP credit at lunch).

Great reviews - I agree with your opinions and am very happy that you had good nights at Artist Point and Ohana. Artist Point is one of the few Disney restaurants that I really miss when I'm not at WDW, since it's just so unique (I love the seasonal, innovative, rustic, elegant, Pacific Northwest cuisine and atmosphere).
