I knew that Art had been sick a while ago, so when we were there last weekend, I wanted to check in and see how he was feeling. He looked a bit thinner than the last time I talked to him, but he was his perky, cheerful self. I told him that the DISers out there had been really concerned. His response was, and I quote...'When you get on that board again, you tell all my friends that I truly do appreciate all their prayers!! I know those prayers worked. In fact, the doctors and nurses said I didn't look as sick as I was and that was due to my being surrounded by prayer...all those good folks just lifted me right up...tell them thank you so very much!!'
So...all of you who know and love Art....there it is, right from his mouth. It was so good to talk to him and see how good he looked.

I am so glad to hear that. I am looking forward to seeing Art in December to trade pins with him again. The man is what Disney is all about.

i :lovestruc Art. I hope he is going to be okay! We look forward to seeing him again in Feb.

For those of us who aren't so lucky as to know him (yet)....could you please tell us more. He sounds like a wonderful person and someone I want to meet! How about some pictures? And where would I find him? I'd love to hear your favorite "Art" story too. I adore people like this who love their job so much that it just spills over to other people and fills them up too.

Art is the 'official' greeter at BC. He has his very nautical uniform on, and has an incredibly wonderful welcome to each and every person who stops by. I'm sure he got very well known when Samantha Brown chatted with him during one of her Disney resort specials, at YC/BC that time. She traded pins with him and had a nice bit with him on the show.
He makes very single person he encounters feel wonderful. He is what Disney is truly about. He loves his job, he loves the people he talks to each day. Just a real Disney treasure..they can't pay that man enough for the good will he provides to his guests!!! Heck, I don't usually stay at the BC but still make it a point to head over there to say hi on each trip!!

He is a wonderful man...we also traded pins with him when we stayed. He was so good with my kids. I'm sorry to hear he was sick, but glad he is better.

We went to BC to introduce him to our DDs (we met him earlier that year without the DDs, and he was honored that DD#1 asked about him then - details of that is in my July 2007 trip report on my site linked below), but it was the day he took ill and Vic was filling in for him.

We are staying at BC in October, so we'll have another chance for the DDs to meet him...

We met him outside the BC last year. A truly wonderful man with a passion for Disney and bringing people happiness. Had a very nice chat with him whilst waiting for a bus to the MK and hope to see him again this year.

Art :) brings a smile to everyone's face as he greets them with a salute as they walk through the doors of the Beach Club. He is a truly lovely gentleman and the Beach Club is never quite the same when we arrive and he is missing.

Does anyone know what times/dates her works? We are checking in on Saturday and would love to see him. Any help would be appreciated.

I look forward to meeting him next month.

Oh I am excited that we get to meet him! He sounds like such a wonderful person. We are going in Nov. and doing a split stay with Pop (first night only) and then BC and GF!

Art normally works Tuesday-Saturday usually 8am to 4pm, and takes his lunch hour sometime between 3 & 4. He really IS living Disney Magic! My wife & I have dubbed him the Grand Admiral of the Beach Club.

Enjoy the Magic that is Art!

We hope to arrive by 2 pm on Saturday. I mentioned him to my wife and she said "Who is Art?" I told her that he was the man who traded pins with Samantha Brown on the "Great Hotels" special on the Beach Club. She said "Oh, the old man." Some people just don't get it.

I always make a point of stopping to say Hello to Art at least once during every vacation

I met Art once while staying at BCV. He is a great guy! I didnt realize he was ill, but am glad to hear he is back at BC and doing better. He, to me like Ranger Stan at WL, as another poster said IS Disney. They are the kind of guys Walt would have felt like were good CMs and represented the company well.
