Art of Animation...what do I do?

So after months of planning, my mother has decided to join us (me, husband, and 8 year old )on our trip to WDW in August. Her flight is booked so there is no backing out. The problem is we have AOA Little Mermaid reserved (and paid for). She doesn't want to share a room with us because the beds are too close together. Suites are not an option because of price. The easy solution would be to get her another room. Problem is they are showing no availability for August. Any suggestions?
Anyone book it recently after persistence ?

You could always get Mom a room at Pop. It's just across the bridge - a 5 minute walk. You'll still be able to stay "together" this way.

Enjoy your time together. Don't stress. It will all work out!

Yes, that is a problem...moms coming to join you...tub makes a great make-shift water bed...lol

Actually try to get mommy to kick in a few bucks to foot the difference for the suite.. It's worth it. Toss momma onto the Murphy bed....

I agree with the PP. Will your mother considering splitting the bill for a suite? We had already booked a room at POP and my MIL decided to go so we switched to a Cars suite. She ended up footing the bill for the entire trip but my DH and I were fully prepare to pay for our portion. It was just a nice surprise.

I booked my LM a few months ago for August and there was no availability unless I booked a longer trip ( 10 nights). So I did that online and then called and cut the days down. I hope this helps you. Let us know if you have any luck.

I would get her a room at Pop in the bowling pin area(I think that is the 50's)
That would be on the same end of the little mermaid rooms/or get her a room on the back side of 60's section near the bridge to AOA where she could meet you at the pool or lobby.

I agree with this. We stayed in a LM room last fall and the 50's rooms at POP are pretty close.

If it were me personally I would rather not have the suite with either my Mom or MIL I would definitely be looking at POP for another room and be pushing its just a 5 minute walk!

I totally agree, seperate room for sure. I would reconsider going if i had to have either MIL or Mom in the room even a suite.

It wouldn't hurt to keep checking to see if a LM room opens up, but I would have her book a room at Pop.

A better Idea, give mom your room and you rebook into a differant room, maybe over at pop.

I think booking the room at POP is a great idea if you don't want to do the Suite. Book a standard room and I would recommend asking for a lake view room in the 60's or 50's. I stay at POP a TON!! I was just there this May (was there for a week in March and 13 days in January). I'm headed back to POP in 10 days for another 12 day stay! (daughter is a CM at WDW right now! ) I always ask for 50's or 60's section! But anyway... the 60's lakeview rooms are standard rooms and are fairly quiet, close to the bridge but also close to Classic Hall at POP. Or if she can't get 60's ask for bldg 3 in the 50's (which would be the other lakeview putting her close to the bridge.) You do have to keep in mind that location requests are just that, requests...but with her only needing a single room, she shouldn't have a problem getting in one of these three bldgs, esp if she can check in earlier in the day. The earlier in the day you check in, the better in works in your favor if you want to be moved. And it seems lately that rarely has POP been at or even close to 100% occupancy. It has and does happen but it is not nearly as frequent as it used to be since AoA opened. It was at 100% a few of the days I was there in Jan (MLK weekend and marathon weekend, but then during the week, it was down in the 60% range). When I was there in March some of the days were in below 50% (48% to be exact) And in May it was in the low to mid 70% range. I got my numbers from one of the mgrs that I am friends with who works there because invariably someone always says this info isn't available to guests. But 'we' are friends and we casually talk about all kinds of stuff regarding the operating of POP! We are trying to analyze between ourselves the impact AoA is having on POP!

I hope you are able to figure out a suitable solution to your room dilemma and that you have a magical trip!

Disney is really missing out on a niche market here. The "MIL" room. Every two normal rooms they should make a super single size room with private bath. Next to but NOT joining rooms. For half the price of course. Max occup. 1.

Thanks for the advice....I went day by day and was able to reserve her own room at AOA for 5 of the 7 nights through Expedia!
