arrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!

Hi Guys

I guess I need your advise!

My DH and I are due to come for our dream 40th Bday/Gaydays/Bahamas cruise in May/June. Ive already bought and paid for the flights and booked the cruise and holiday and we are due to stay onsite for the first 9 nights for (MY dream) DXDP blowout at OKW 1 bed villa and then at an Idrive hotel for 4 nights over gaydays.

Now here is my dilemma - Our car just died (totally unplanned) and now need to find the money from somewhere to pay for a new one (dont want to go into more debt at this point) and the only place I can see me finding the money is out of the holiday fund!!

Ive been looking at "options" - although none of them are "choices" as I want it all!! (heheh) - and it looks like I can save more than enough for a car by swapping out our 9 nights onsite for 13 nights offsite - by staying at the Vistana resort and hiring a car (saving me $1500)

We dont go on holiday all the time (last time was our disneymoon in 09) and im always sensible with choices and saving for our trips so we dont go into debt and I really need this holiday. I know we will save lots of money and will probably still fit in some of the dining paying OOP. The Vistana resort looks great - it has similar facilities at OKW but doesnt have that "prosac Factor" (DH quote from last time) of staying onsite. (no free transport or dining) but even factoring in the cost of dining and a car its still so much cheaper.

I guess my question is - am I going to totally ruin our experience by not staying onsite for the first nine days and by changing our plans OR should i bite the bullet and go and get the credit for the car so our dream holiday remains intact and we get a nicer car.

see what I mean when i say "arrrrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!"

Its got to be whatever you feel better with. Personally, I'm ok with staying off site, maybe because I've never stayed onsite! I'd rather have more money for shopping ect! With offsite have you factored in everything like parking costs, fuel etc?

i would always stay on site if i could afford it. How about going to one of the Pop resorts - accomodation would be cheaper saving £'s. and instead of going for the flash more expensive car = get something that will do you both for the next 12 months or so.

I agree with what's been said, change up the Disney hotel to a value or mod? I don't know what you are spending off site but the value or mods are certainly cheaper than a 1BR at OKW

Thanks for all the great advise - We are now the proud owners of a very cheap car!!!!! which means that with a little cutting back on food - which I need to do in order to fit into HP ride we should be able to stay on track for the plan as is....
