Hi everybody,

Just to let you know, if you plan on doing those 30-day trial memberships with restaurant, movie tickets, etc. discounters, a word to the wise:

When you call to cancel your membership within the 30 days, their "operators" are really salespeople, and will try to sell you everything. I just spent a total of 30 minutes on the phone with Connections and Simple Escapes. I believe I had to tell them 5-6 times apiece that I wanted to cancel my membership.

I realize they have to do their jobs, but I thought one of their jobs was to listen to customers. Apparently NOT.

IMO, it just isn't worth the hassle! If they can't manage to get you to keep the program, they will "accidentally" charge your card; which will take forever to get off!

I am with you on this one I learned my lesson the hard way.

They even went so far as to charge it agin the following year!

I hd the same problem with connections, so this time for the simple escapes and the other one galleria, I just reported my card lost and they sent me a new one with a new nbr, so if they try to charge the other card, it won't go thru!

I have to agree with the majority...it just isn't worth the hassle for me to go through...They are always trying to get you to stay and then if you cancel before the 30 day trial is up, they still charge your card half the time...no thanks...I avoid them...

I have not joined Connections yet but I read on another board/thread that someone used a one time use AMEX card to avoid this very problem!

I took advantage of Connections 30 day trial to get some meal certs for WDW. I signed up with my Paypal Debit Mastercard (It only authorizes amounts available in my Paypal account)intentionally. I called on the 27th day to cancel, got the usual runaround, but received a cancellation number.

That was about a year ago......Connections is STILL trying to charge my Paypal card for the annual membership fee. I don't keep money in my paypal account, so the charge keeps getting declined..... .........
