We are so bummed. We have been looking forward to our BWV trip for so long and now the weather looks like it is going to be very rainy. What can we do to make a rainy trip good?

It's probably just the everyday thunderstorms! Rains for an hour than the sun comes out!

Where are you seeing that? We are here now and it is gorgeous weather! But it is very, VERY busy!!!

If you are arriving this week, there is a slight chance of some showers, but most of your week should be rain free.

The long range forcast shows a better chance of rain next week, but like the other poster said, thunderstorms pass and the sun shines again on the Disney parks. :cool1:

A lot of times in Fl is just rains a while then stops. It does not usally rain for long, certainly not alllllll day...

We did HWS and EPCOT in teh rain one year and it was not bad...the crowds were definitely lighter...

pack some rain ponchos and have fun no matter what... :)

Checking my weather app it looks like the only days this week with rain in the forecast are Thursday and Saturday in which they are calling for "Stray" Thunderstorms. It's calling for a 30% chance. The rest of the days are partly sunny. We've never had an issue with finding something to do if it should start to rain. Of course what you do will be influenced by the ages in your group. We manage to get stranded in the Rose n Crown with an Imperial Sampler during an afternoon shower. These showers are so brief that it shouldn't have a dramatic impact. It's when there is lightning that it gets a little hairy. WDW takes lightening storms very seriously.

We were there a few weeks ago: two days of horrible rain, one day with tornado warnings, another day of light rain. I saw a trash barrel blown over in The Magic Kingdom, got soaked within an inch of my life, and had a terrific time.

At DHS, we rode Toy Story Mania six times in about an hour and a half without a single Fast Pass. The rain was our friend.

We did make the rookie mistake of trying to do Animal Kingdom in the rain: big mistake, but aside from our own blunder, it really wasn't that bad. I'm looking forward to our next trip, seeing Epcot without a poncho, but all in all, the rain kept the crowds lower. It is what it is.

Enjoy your vacation!! :yay:

Take ponchos, maybe an umbrella (always good to do at WDW even if you haven't seen a rain forecast). Have a change of shoes available so one pair can dry out, if you do get soaked. I love the Tune-In lounge at DHS in a rainstorm (well, I love it in dry weather, too). People don't melt in the rain, but lots of them will leave the parks, making it easier for you to enjoy the open rides. Do take shelter if there's lightning. The shops get crowded, so it's not a good time for that. Take some pictures of the rain and interesting things. It can rain furiously, so it's good to have an alternative plan (movie, board games?), but don't let it spoil your trip -- there are ways to cope. (Avoid Disney Quest; it's very extra crowded on rainy days).

You will be happy with the weather. Summer pattern is in early stages in that daily you can possibly get two or three thunderstorms although this time of year a little less than more and often they occur overnight when you are sleeping.

Honestly, when we were there in August, it said rain everyday and it only ended up raining once, and it was at night.

On our May 2009 trip, it rained (and at times torrential rains) for 7 of the 8 days that we were there. Sun came out the day we were leaving. We still had a great time. Just use ponchos and umbrellas. The rain didn't stop too many people; we did all the rides and attractions we wanted. EPCOT is also a good place to be in a rain storm as lots of indoor attractions.

We always hit some rain on our vacations but not a full week like the 2009 visit to WDW; you will still have a great time!!

Enjoy:)

Be glad it will be warm - we got rain during Christmas week one year - Christmas day I think- and while it kept the crowds down it did require much more clothing to keep warm and dry. this time of year it will rain - you get wet if you don't have a poncho or umbrella with you and then the sun arrives and everything is great - a little steamy but great.

I agree about the shoes but would suggest water shoes for those days that you know it is really going to pour or are going on a wet ride like Kali River Rapids. There are some really comfy ones for women form LLBean.

Where is the Tune-In lounge? Always looking for places to relax for a few minutes.

Thanks

We usually put on the rain ponchos and hit the parks anyway and enjoy the lighter crowds but Monorail shop & lounge crawl :drinking1 is a fun rainy weather activity too.

It seems like the weather predictions change every day. The air must be very unstable right now.

We are not going to let the weather ruin our trip. We will just have to work around it.

I don't mind the rain actually....just dress for it and have a great time :) Our dd has been visiting WDW with us since she was 3 (now 18) and she has learned to dress right and have a good time anyway....lighter crowds.....easier to get on rides....slower pace....nice time to shop :) Just make the best of it and you'll have a great time :thumbsup2 No sitting in the room and sulking...put on a poncho and get out there :) It's hard to have a bad day at Disney :)

Take ponchos but frankly don't worry about it, the meteorologist don't always get it right! It may all blow away! The daily rains don't start till June. Last year we went in August, the whole week was predicted to be bad, it rained only once!

Have fun!

My friend was there several weeks ago when they had torrential rains almost all week. They still went to the parks, but used extra-sturdy ponchos to stay a little drier. Their main problem was keeping enough dry shoes. She tried to use the dryers at the hotel and they were always tied up with tons of shoes from the youth groups (bands, dance teams, cheerleaders, etc.).

But, they were on vacation for a limited number of days, so they made the best of it. And she said that the lines were usually not very long, so her young son had a great time. And . . . they can't wait to go back!

Tune-in is next to the 50's Prime Time Cafe. It's not very big, but has an excellent bartender, good beer, and really cute decor (if you're "of a certain age"). And you can also order PTC food in there (without an ADR).
