Arrive at Parks at 4pm? Too Late???

We did DTD this year on our first day. We also have spent the first day going to resorts for a character meal, riding the monorail and hanging out at our own resort. That way we can get to the parks at opening the next morning.

We usually do a special meal and then a couple hours at MK. It whets our appetite.
Are you doing any special shows like Hoop de doo(which most folks knows is our fav)
I haven;t tried the fantasmic dinner packages, but I can't say I would spend money on that. hard not to have a good seat at fantasmic, I think. No need to spend extra money to get one

are you an early park type person? Then just do a special dinner, swim at your resort or visit DTd a bit and go to bed early so you can start your week right

Our first trip we arrived late afternoon and just went to Downtown Disney to look around and have dinner. The next time we went I made dinner reservations at Crystal Palace in the MK and we spent the evening hanging out there & riding their favorite rides. The kids definately enjoyed this more, they are so excited when we arrive, they want to hit the parks! The added cost to our multi day ticket for this was only around $8 for all 4 of us, so even if you just spend a couple of hours in a park that day it's worth it to us.

How does that work? You can add $8 to eat in MK without using your park hopper? I don't have hoppers this year :confused3 and we are arriving late too.

She meant that it cost $8 to add 1 more day to their 4 park-hopper tickets in order to enter the park that evening. Example: already planning to buy an 8-day park-hopper for $257, instead buy a 9-day park-hopper for $259.

We had to use a day's park entry to do it, but it only cost us $8 to add another day to our park tickets. The price per day goes down substantially the more days you add.

ETA: Ooops, nevermind, solgent beat me with the explanation!

We're doing this in March...Our plane lands around 3:30pm, we'll get our room then head to MK for a quick counter service dinner, then watch Spectromagic and wishes and just take it all in. We'll be spending a couple more days at MK during the week so we won't HAVE to catch these shows again and can do rides during these times.

It has become our family tradition to spend day one going to DTD and eating at Rainforest Cafe. It's a family favorite. My kids (now) 14, 13 and 3, LOVE watching all the animatronics and light show. Then we walk around for a few hours and hit the Chiradelli chocolate shop for "take back to the room" treats.
When we get back to the room, we settle in and take a dip. Before bed we much on our treats and dream about all the fun we will have the next day.

the difference in price is usually on a few bucks to add an additional day on so I would plan for it and then even if all you do is walk in the park, maybe grab something for dinner...you will not be out much of anything. But then again you may be feeling up to dinner, fireworks, maybe a few rides...Plenty of time to enjoy the day!

It's never too late. And if there is an EMH, that makes it all the better. :) JMO.

The EMH is AK that night we arrive, it is open until 8 p.m., but don't the animals go to sleep much earlier than that? But I guess we could always ride Expedition, that would be cool at night. :scared1: I wonder how long the lines are.

When we get to the world late we always head to DTD for dinner and shopping. We like to give the parks a early jump in the morning.
