I see now that DME no longer does baggage transfers after 10:00 P.M. My flight is scheduled to arrive at 9:35 P.M. If my flight is late will I have to get my luggage or does DME pick it up because the flight was scheduled for arrival before 10:00?
The baggage transfer service ends at 10:00 pm, so the answer is no. If your flight is delayed, you will have to claim your baggage and take it to the ME area.
Even if you are on time, if you need it that night, I would pick it up and take it on the bus with you. It could take up to 3 hours to get to your resort.
Prior to 10 PM you will not be able to claim yellow tagged baggage yourself.
You have no way of knowing whether the DME baggage culling and handling behind the carousel ceased a few nanoseconds before 10 PM or ran until a few nanoseconds after 10 PM. Therefore I suggest filing a baggage claim with the airline prior to leaving the carousel area if you did go there and did not find your bags. Hopefully Disney will soon publish a more accurate procedure as an alternative to this.
If I were arriving at any time after 9:00, I would just leave my bags untagged and pick them up myself before heading to the DME checkin area. While I realize that having DME take care of checked luggage is a huge plus, it just isn't worth it to me to have to worry about arriving just a wee little past the 10:00 cut off time and then try to figure out where my bags are.
