we will be staying at pop, is there a walmart or supermarket that would be open? by the time we get the rental car and drive to the area it would probably be closer to 12:30 am. any suggestions?

There is a Super Walmart on the 535 you may want to check. I am not sure if they are 24hours. You can just check the website and that will tell you. Also if you take the 417, there is a Super Target on the way off one of the exits. You can see it pretty clearly, maybe check that website too. They also have Publix down there, although quite pricey in comparison to Walmart IMO.

Publix all close around 10:00 pm.

Super Wal-Mart is open 24 hours.

Frankly I'd just wait until the next morning to shop and shop at Publix, a much nicer experience and the prices are actually generally comparable--with a much better selection.

Or go online to www.gardengrocer.com ...pre-order everything for arrival early the next morning so you don't have to go out shopping at midnight! My wife always goes to the super walmart when we arrive which is usually at night like you...and ends up "out" until 2am...which kind of ruins are first day there since she's exhausted then from travelling and very little sleep! Since we discovered this service, it's like freeing up our vacation time, travel can be stressful, shopping and finding places in an unfamiliar city is stressful, and getting no sleep doesn't help either! This allows us to relax and enjoy vacation time with our family rather than spending it off grocery shopping! (and yes..they deliver to the WDW resorts!)

garden grocer is spectacular and the AS Movies CMs delivered all our groceries to our hotel room door!!!

Have you considered taking ME from the airport, and picking up your rental car from the Car Center or the Swan the next morning? You would have to bring your luggage with you (but then again, you'd have to do that in a car, too.) to avoid having them bring your bags to your room in the middle of the night.

I'm thinking that OP may be staying off-site, this is the Orlando thread. Otherwise, great idea (this is what we do too.):goodvibes

Last time we went, we had a late flight like that. We stayed at a hotel right by the airport. All we wanted to do was sleep so we didn't need anything special.
We were well rested in the am and ready to roll. :)

Goodings grocery stores are open until like 2am. There is one in the shopping area across from Downtown Disney, and I think on on Semoran....north of the Airport.

Goodings is open 24 hours, but you are really much better off driving the extra mile to Wal-Mart, or, as Ducklite suggested, waiting until morning and going to Publix (the option I would pick). Goodings is ridicuously overpriced, with limited selection, and just kind of gross.

BTW, even Super Targets close at 10 p.m.

there is a walmart - too bad you can't get to Pop sooner - the food court closes at midnight most nights.

since you are staying on property did you not want DDP? or did you all ready have your tickets and didn't want to buy a one day ticket? I might consider getting DDP and cancelling the car rental. going with DME. Pop has (most of the time) excellent transportation - but there alot of people. I really had a worst problem when I did drive - because trying to find a place to park there can be a BIG problem.

if you just want a meal for that night - then the MCO (airport) has several restuarants - that I think are open 24 hours.

however to get to a Walmart from 417 - once you are off of it - at the second traffic light turn left - (535) - a miles (might be 2) is the Walmart off to your right.

to come back - turn on International Drive South (before ID 536) - (this is the one without a traffic light ) (536 has a traffic light - you need to turn before this) - turn left - when you get to Osecola Parkway turn right (there is BIG Gaylord hotel you can't miss it at this turn) - a mile (might be less) down is WWoS (on left side) - you need to turn right to get to Pop - then about a block up is Pop turn right again.

They do? Wow, I thought they were open 24 hours to compete with Wal-Mart. Well, I guess you know how much of a night owl I am. :lmao:
