Hi, Fellow DISers-

I know that a lot of us may have read about what to put in a "Welcome from (insert favorite Disney character here)" gift basket to surprise the family.

Usually the contents include autograph books w/ fat pens, pressed penny books, Guest of Honor badges, etc...

What about some more unusual ideas? Something REALLY UnIqUe!

Here's what I'm thinking of doing:
Individually gift wrap (with Disney paper, of course!) each one of the enclosed gifts...
Embroidered Mickey Ears
Autograph Books w/ Fat Pens
A Disney Charm Bracelet for DD
A Disney Watch for DS
Personalized Disney Shirts (one for DH that says: "It's my Birthday!" and mine, DD and DS's to say: "But it's my Un-Birthday!)
Mickey Snacks/ Chocolates
Embroidered Baseball Caps
Guest of Honor Badges
A Pal Mickey
Mickey Earrings for DD
Miscellaneous other Disney Items

I thought that I would buy a large hat box at a craft store and decoupage it with Disney postcards, since I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for on the internet. I want to do this, instead of a "gift basket" per se, because I'll be shipping it to the resort in an outer box and I don't think that a traditional gift basket would ship well.

Then I thought that I would order a large balloon bouquet from the Disney Florists to attach to the hat box, once we arrive.

I thought that I would sneak up to the room, while DH distracts the kids, and assemble the hat box (with a HUGE red french wire ribbon bow), balloons and cards.

I wanted to include two oversized cards to lean against the gift box-

One card would be from Mickey and say something like: "I'm so excited to have you here! I know that this is going to be the best vacation EVER, now that my most special guests have arrived! Please meet me tomorrow at X O'Clock at the X Location, so that I can give you a huge hug! I'll be waiting for you!"

The other card would be for DH and say something like: "So, your DW finally got you to the Mouse House! Well... I must say that we've got some exciting plans in the works for your birthday! It's a surprise that you'll love, you just wait and see, Big Boy!"

What are your ideas? I'd love to hear them!!!!!!!

That sounds wonderful! I am planning my gift from Mickey for my family--I love the wording inviting them to meet such and such for a hug. We have ressies for CM's the first night--so I know they will get a hug there!

Where are you planning on finding Mickey earrings for DD? pierced? I was hoping to find Minnie earrings--haven't looked around too much but I haven't found any.

Enjoy!

Kasmir, I'll be at the WL arriving March 25th..... just leave it at the desk!
;)

You're funny, MinnieM3! :earboy2:

liveforthemagic: I checked out the Disney store online and really came up against a brick wall on the earrings. I was thinking of checking out my local Disney Store or e-Bay for Mickey/Minnie for pierced earrings. A retailer called Dry Ice -- I believe that they're online too -- sells the entire line of Disney charms and charm bracelets and they are shockingly reasonable. I'll post on here if I find them...

Let's hear some more ideas, People! You know you're just dying to share... ;)

Never mind about Dry Ice online... I checked out their online store and they had NOTHING Disney. But I know for a fact that their retail store here in St. Louis carries the charm collection.

I thought of the same idea, making the basket myself and shipping it there. Where would you find the mickey snacks ahead of time though? Can we buy them somewhere outside the parks?

Joy

I'm not sure, Joy -- But I intend to find out! I'm sure there are...

I'll post on here as I gather things about where I've found them and how much they cost, etc...

Here's another idea that I would love to put in my basket--but haven't been able to find....Mickey themed hair accessories--scrunchies--ribbons--headbands. My DD is not real big on Disney T shirts--but she loves to put logo stuff in her hair--and on her ears--hence my earlier question!

dig around here this thanks for all the searching--I'm going to search around this weekend too and I'll post what I find!

I cannpt help with Mickey hair accessories unles syou happen to live near a disney outlet but Target just got in very cute hair accessories with Tink. They are in the kids hair section.

More ideas:

lanyard & some pins for trading (our whole family really got in to this - I was shocked at how much dh loved it - he even bought a $30 book that shows all the pins, then left it on the plane darn him!)

bubbles (maybe some have Disney labels, if not you can print pics & glue them around the label & be creative & put their names on them, or whatever.

glow sticks (my kids wore them during the day to keep them safe on the "dark" rides & we wore them every night to the fireworks.

Since you are giving a pressed penny book, you might want to give the kids some pennies & quarters. We put them in an empty film container (2 quarters/penny, 2quarters/penny - you get the idea) to carry around.

Disposable cameras. Not sure if there are any with Disney characters on them, but it would be great if there were!!! You can always buy Disney stickers & stick those on your non Disney stuff!

Disney dollars.

Maybe you can find some Disney themed water bottles. Or just put some stickers on the Brita fill&go.

That's all I can think of! Have fun.

Have you checked disneydeals.com for the earrings? Might even have other stuff that you'd like.

Great! Keep those neat ideas coming!

Joy: OMG! Those World Park Shoppers have a lot of stuff! Very cool!

liveforthemagic: Good idea about the hair stuff... I'll take a look at Target too (Thanks, daisylove!). Barrettes would be neat also...

Thanks, Erin, for the ideas...

Let's get these creative juices flowing! :flower:

Don't know if any of you are scrapbookers, but I've found some cute Disney stuff (stickers, paper, etc.) in with the scrapbooking supplies at my local craft store - like JoAnn Fabric, Michael's, Ben Franklin - and I know that Creative Memories has a Disney scrapbooking set. I'm getting that for when I come home - even though I don't normally scrapbook , I thought it would be cute.

I also found a Pooh and a Buzz Lightyear bubble maker. It's about the size of a fat pen, and I plan on just keeping this until we are in the parks in a REALLy long line.

We're staying at the Poly, so for my "basket" I'm going to use a sand pail that I'm painting with Mickey heads, put a few sand toys in, add a stamped penny book (DS loves to do this), and a few other things like Mickey treats (the gummy fruit snacks you can buy in the grocery).

Any other ideas?

You may want to check your local mall for Mickey earrings. I'm not sure if these are national chains or not, but we've got Plumb Gold and Piercing Pagoda kiosks at our mall and they both carry Mickey earrings and a few other characters (I know I've seen Pooh characters and Tink)

I don't know if your kids like to read, but on Amazon.com I got my neice a book called Mystery at Disney World. It would be good for lines, downtime at the hotel or the plane ride or drive home. I also got a sticker book on disney villians for my DS and a princess one for DD they are by DK, really cute.

What about a cd player with Disney CD's

Mickey Pez Dispensers

Personal Fans, I got some at the disney store last year Mickey, Princess and Buzz

I'm doing this for my family too except I have a day to put it together because I am flying in early in the morning and they are driving so they probably arrive till much later. I don't want to ship anything to the hotel and it's just me traveling so I will pack it alllll in a carryon. I love these ideas!

I dont know what to do about an autograph book though- make one, buy one or do something creative (like a pillowcase)?

Great ideas!

Where can I order the personalized Mickey ears and guest of honor badges before we go?
