We will be driving 10 plus hours to WDW on October 26th. We plan to leave around 4 am and drive straight through. I know when we arrive we will be tired. I also know we will want to go somewhere and do something. I had planned to go to Magic Kingdom on arrival day but they are having the MNSSHP that night so we don't want to waste a ticket for a couple of hours. Any suggestions? It will be myself and my daughter and her 4 year old daughter. I would be happy getting dinner and having some pool time but I think my daughter will want to go to a park.

We usually go to a park on our 1st day, but after traveling, which includes a 3 hour plane ride, someone usually ends up melting down. So, DH has said that this year we are not going to the park on the 1st day.

Our plans are to check into the Poly around 10 am, hang at the pool. Have some lunch. Then we have 'Ohana reservations for 4:00 pm. We will check out Trader Sams and then go to bed early to get ready for our full 1st day!

I'm actually looking forward to this.

We would probably not be arriving until around 3 pm after driving all day. Pool time and dinner and a good nights sleep sounds good so we are ready for the next morning.

Or you could try 1900 PF
I just asked my Granddaughter if she would rather see Mickey first or Princesses and she said Princesses. 1900 Park Faire sounds like a good choice.

We always do Disney Springs our first night and eat dinner there. I hate to waste a park ticket for a few hours so it's become a tradition

It's a fun one too. The step sisters are a blast

You could do a dinner show:
  • Hoop De Doo Musical Revue @ Fort Wilderness Resort
  • Spirit of Aloha Luau @ Polynesian Village Resort
  • Mickey’s Backyard BBQ @ Fort Wilderness Resort

I vote Disney Springs and walking around, shopping, getting dinner. Or, a dinner reservation at a resort hotel. Or, go to one of the smaller parks (not MK), squeeze in a few hours at Studios or Animal Kingdom, or Epcot's countries section.

Arrival day is always pool time for us and then dinner at a park . Works great for us after a day of traveling.

Our last trip we rode the monorail and checked out all of the resorts on our first night. It was Christmas time, so there were fun decorations, but we ended up having a Dole Whip at Poly and watching the river parade (no clue what it's called at this point) and watching Wishes from the beach as well. It was a relaxing way to look at resorts and seeing decorations (surely they'll have Halloween things when you go). It was enough body movement and walking to make sure our bodies were as tired as our minds were so that we slept well the first night.

My original plan for our first day was to check in, get some food and swim, maybe see disney springs. Turned out it was too cold on our arrival day to swim even for us Canadians, so I just added a couple of days to our passes. cost us $10/day/person. We had 6 day tickets we turned in to 8 day. It didn't matter if we only went for a couple of hours it was still cheaper than a movie!

We do have length of stay tickets so we definitely could go to Magic Kingdom for a couple of hours. I just don't want to over do it on the travel day. But we all know we will probably get a burst of energy once we arrive. I guess we will have to play it by ear.

If you are driving and your car leaves when you do why would you leave at 4am? That will mess will your sleep schedules and throw everyone off their game. Leaving at 4am will get you there at 2pm, Leaving at 8:00am gives everyone a good sleep and gets you there at 6:00pm time for a nice dinner, perhaps one of the evening shows (fireworks can be viewed from outside the parks if you want to save a day) and you start the next day rested and ready to rock.

I work until 3am so we were going to leave as soon as I get home from work.
