Arrival after midnight with Magical Express to POFQ?

you are correct. it was changed before.
i usually do only car service but used it once last year and found it out, but i did read in advance in the literature of disney, and tipped off by the boards.

yes, that changed last year.

Maybe it was the policy not to divert your bags at all that changed.

Actually, according to the first post of this thread, it changed 6 years ago:

http://www.disboards.com/threads/disneys-magical-express-luggage-tag-info.1144360/

I think the issue was when they first implemented this new policy the thought was that your bags would still be diverted but only delivered the next day. It was of course in response to people coming in later in the evening say 10 PM and having a knock at their door at 1:00 AM.

So I'm assuming this is not the case and maybe or maybe not an Airport Employee will see the bag and know to direct it to ME to be taken care of the next morning.

Here's the issue. After 10pm, all the yellow tagged bags will just go with all the other bags...out to the baggage carousel. At least that's to the best of my knowledge. It will then be considered unclaimed luggage and put aside until the morning, when DME workers will go in search of it as soon as they are on duty. The bags will then be delivered to the resorts.
If you're okay with your bags being unattended for that period (out on the carousel) then fine, tag the bags and allow them to deliver them the next morning.

The fastest way is going to be if you go pick her up...but, will you actually be awake at that time? If not, you might want to spring for a car service. She can get her bags, the driver should help her with them, then drive directly to the resort. But, I tend to see issues where none exist and would be concerned about my dd in that car with just the driver. yes, I know...silly..at least I admit my nuttiness.
Is there any way your dd can get you her bags and you can take them with you? Then she can just do a carry on bag. Going via DME may not be fast but it is free and an option that I would be fine with for my 22 y/o dd.

Really that is pretty nutty o_O

The driver should have been fully backgrounded checked and is part of a regulated industry. Also the DD is 25. Now if it was a "shared ride service" that's another issue. :scratchin

But OP if you are going to awake anyway waiting for her I would just pick her up. Would make for the least stressful situation all around and has to be quicker.

Exactly. I was 25 once and still liked being picked up by my mom. We were good friends and it turned out we needed to get in all the talking of a lifetime before I was 30, so I'm glad for all the times she picked me up at the airport. If you'll be up, pick her up.

FWIW we just started going to wdw in 2010 and I have never had the understanding that DME would get our bags after 10pm. It has affected what flights we chose, or if we got a rental car the first night, since our first trip.

my way of thinking.

set up car service.
she will be picked quickly and at the resort at a much earlier time than by using the ME

sometimes the money is worth the convenience and peace of mind.

After being trapped on ME for nearly two hours to get to my hotel at arrival and then nearly missing my flight after over two hours driving to other resorts on the way home, I have found paying for a car service very worth the price too.
