Oh there are just so many things wrong with this. We are becoming the center of the universe for bird nookie.

First Piper and Tweezer the cockatiels have a clutch of 3 babies - Kringle, Beaker and PeeWee. Aww wasn't that cute.

Then before the babies get their little feathered rumps out of the nesting box, momma Tweezer gets the hots for stud muffin Piper and starts popping out eggs again. Enter Bumble, Nicky and Cosmo. Alright.. getting a wee bit out of hand, but still kinda cute.

Then the parakeet had to get some action. This parakeet had 7 babies 2 yrs ago. We still have 4 of them, the others went to other homes. Only now momma bird is getting action with one of her BABY BIRDS.. and she lays an egg! NO! NO NONONONO.. that is wrong! I don't need a clutch of momma/son hillbilly from Deliverance, banjo playing in the background parakeets! So we take the egg out of the cage. Just as well, she hadn't started sitting on it yet.

Oh.. and don't get me started about the male parakeet that plays his little Marvin Gaye records in the background while trying to get lucky.. WITH A COCKATIEL! Holy crow... the cockatiel is 5 times his size and she just walks around on the stick looking like "Why is this thing standing on my back????"

Now.. NOW... what do I hear coming from Tweezer and Pipers box with the babies?? That's right - if the box is a rockin' don't come a knocking. And pop! There is an egg.

HELP! Can you spay or neuter a bird?? Do they make chastity belts for overactive cockatiels?? :lmao:

Oh.. and this time I'm serious - anyone willing to come to central virginia that wants a cockatiel? They do have pretty babies. Solid cinnamons, cinnamon pearls, grey pearls and pieds.

I'm sorry Maureen - but this post just made my night!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I will not tell my 5 year old about this - he want's a scarlet macaw in the worst way - but he knows I will never cave in on that...so he'd settle for anything with wings right now! LOL!

Are you sure they aren't *Love* birds? LOL

I dunno about *love* birds.. maybe LUST birds! :rotfl2:

Come on.. I can cut you a good deal for your son! I'll trade you one cockatiel for a 5 pound bag of cockatiel food for the other 600 I'm bound to have by the end of the year. :teeth:

I just have to ask....what are you feeding those birds?

I was just wondering what aphrodesiacs (sp) they were getting...must be the green M & M's :teeth:

Hey maybe all this lust going around means spring is in the air!!!

Oh great.. my birds are twitterpated! :rotfl2: Although that doesn't explain the Christmas clutch.. or the Valentines clutch.. well, okay, it does explain the Valentines day clutch. :teeth:

Just a question since I know nothing about birds...how long after um....lusting...does it take before the female lays an egg?

Ya know, it's kind of hard to tell because these two went at it so many times lately and I'm not home with them all day to keep an eye on them (plus I would feel perverted.. :lmao: ) but it seems they lay an egg within a day or two of a very.. er... active day. I do know that the gestation of the egg from when it is laid till we see the baby hatch is usually right on 20 days for these guys. Also, they normally lay their eggs every 2 or 3 days so you may hear me banging my head again on Tuesday. ;) Three seems to be their magic number since both clutches yielded 3 babies, although the first clutch had 4 eggs and the second 5.

So, how many babies can I sign you up for? :teeth:

I just had to respond...too funny. You also made my day, or I should say night.
Just curious, what kind of dog is the white one in the picture? Is it a Pekingnese? I couldn't tell for sure, although they are all lovely. :goodvibes

Oysters and green M&Ms...why? :smooth:

Okay, that did it! :rotfl2: :lmao: I'm so glad my family didn't hear me laughing in here!

Hmmm, I have to be down in your area the beginning of August. I'll take a baby bird then (and at this rate you'll have new ones every couple of months). I grew up with parakeets and would love a cockateil ....but only one. Not quite sure I want a pair. :scared:

What are you feeding those birds, MeanLaureen? Fertility pills?

Lauri, you have to try the red M&M's! :lmao: That should stop them.. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Make sure you're not running the Discovery Channel in the background. Who knows what's going on in those "documentaries" that could be inspiring your birds? ;)

My girls would LOVE one but don't think I could convince DH to drive all that way
just to get a Bird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ask the vet if they have birth control for birds. :teeth:

Maybe you should get a cat to sit there and stare at them. Might make then too nervous to move.

Kayla, we'll be happy to give you the bird. :p :duck:

Right now I'm tempted to stick an M&M of any color up their hoohas. When I looked in the box last night to see if anything else had popped out, I'd swear the mama bird could tell what we were saying and moved just enough as if to say "guess what IIIIII did." :teeth:

Studentmom, thanks. :) The white one is Tinker, she's a Tibetan Spaniel. Tibbies are related to Pekingese but have a bit of a different texture to their fur and a slightly longer snoot.

At least the girls aren't just laying eggs for fun. Yopu know how hard that is on them. I would love a bird, I just have to figure out how to get my sister in Williamsburg to pick one up and then get it to me. Since her son is coming to visit in June, maybe he can bring it with! She has finches, wonder if they would all like each other.

Good luck with all the "fun" in your house!
