We had done most of the packing the previous night and decided to get Bell Services at AKL to store our bags for us while we checked out and then went off to Epcot to meet Kath.
Once in Epcot we rang Kaths hotel room and arranged to meet at the boat dock. Now this is where the confusion started. We thought that Kath had meant the boat dock at Epcot, but she obviously meant the boat dock at the Dolphin hotel.
We waited for a while at the Epcot boat dock ,but no sign of our Kath! So, we thought I bet she had meant the Dolphin boat dock! So we hopped onto a waiting Friendship and headed over to the Dolphin. Just as we left the dock we saw Kath walking from the direction of the Beach Club towards Epcot.
The Friendship stopped at the Boardwalk first, so we jumped ship and headed back towards Epcot in the hope of catching Kath at the International Gateway.
But, when we got there she was nowhere to be seen.
Julie and the girls by this time were wilting a bit (it was a hot morning). So we decided to grab a bite to eat and then ring Kaths room again to re-arrange the meeting point.
As we enjoyed the Chinese beef fried rice the night before we headed to try lunch at the Nine Dragons restaurant. We got a table without any trouble and ordered a selection of main course dishes and fried rice. The meal was OK. We found the dishes very bland and quite salty. Not the best Chinese Ive had.
On leaving the restaurant we made a quick call to Kaths room she had left a message to meet us at AKL before we set off to the airport.
As we walked back to the park exit, Julie began to feel a bit funny. She was sweating and looking very pale.
Thankfully a bus pulled up as we got to the AKL bus stop. As we drove back to the hotel Julie began to feel very sick, and had to resort to using a spare carrier bag (there was only on other couple on the bus). Once back at AKL she headed straight to the restrooms and was pretty much camped there for the next hour or so. She looked very pale and was obviously worried about making it to the airport. We didnt know whether the cause of her ailment by food poisoning or the morning heat.
I wandered up to the hotel lobby just as Kath walked in. She was concerned how pale Julie looked. After getting water and Imodium I sat with Julie as Kath went off with the girls.
It was approaching time for Tiffany to pick us up, and thankfully Julie seemed a little more confident of making it to the airport without any accidents!
The Tiffany driver arrived dead on time and I got Bell Services to take the bags out to the car. We said our final goodbyes to Kath and her DH (and my adopted car) and climbed into the towncar for the journey to the airport.
As soon as the girls got into the car it was if someone had switched them off they both slept all the way to the airport. Julie survived the journey, but still looked very tired and pale. We checked our bags in and headed straight to the departure gate and found seats within easy reach of the nearest restrooms. Nicola chose to crash out on the floor an was soon snoring away. Jade curled up on a chair and was also soon asleep.
Julie tried to get some sleep, and only needed to go to the restrooms a few times before we boarded.
Once on the plane Julie and the girls settled down and went to sleep. I find it very difficult to sleep on the plane on the way back. I did manage to drop off once, but was woken up when the idiot in front decided to recline his seat, crushing my knee in the process!
That was it then, I couldnt get to sleep again. And seeing as I couldnt sleep, I made sure the chap in front couldnt sleep either. As soon as I saw him get comfy I accidentally knocked his chair. This bit of entertainment seemed to make the flight go a lot quicker.
I was the only one in the family to have any food the kids were asleep and Julie just couldnt face it. Having sampled the dinner I dont blame her!
By the time we arrived at Gatwick, Julie was feeling a little better, although still feeling very tired. What a joy to be back in England and the tatty surroundings of Gatwick Airport. After the security at Orlando airport, Gatwick was a complete joke! There was one person on the passport control desk, and she just waved us through after taking no more than a quick glance at our passports.
It seemed to take ages for our bags to appear on the conveyor, but we were soon out and on our way to the car park bus stop. The car park bus took ages to arrive, (there seemed to be plenty of the normal south terminal long stay busses, but no Summer Special busses!).
Eventually one arrived. We piled our bags on and off we went off pick Pablo up.
As we pulled into the car park I could see Pablos Mickey aerial topper. After collecting the keys we were soon off on our way back to sunny Leicestershire.
For a bank holiday Monday the roads were very clear. Julie seemed to feeling better and was struggling to keep her eyes open, (the girls were fast a sleep in the back as soon as got in!). As we got onto the M40 I could feel my eyes beginning to go, so we pulled into services for a cup of coffee. Julie must have been feeling a little better, she managed to have a coffee. I think the girls were actually sleep walking!
After stocking up on midget gems and wine gums we headed off on the last stage of the journey home and the usual pile of mail and newspapers. I always think its a horrible feeling arriving back home from Florida, the Disney withdrawal really hits you as you walk in the door back to reality!
