Armed guard draws gun on Disneyland guests.

What a bizarre video. What's with the background music?

Seems like a mistake was made, and thankfully nobody was hurt. An apology should have been made to the gentlemen on the motorcycle, and perhaps to the surprised security guard (by Disney). Hopefully policy was changed to make sure this never happens again.

Why do people not see how scary some actions can be? He talked about getting the stub out before setting off. Why not do it then? Why not think through what getting off your motorcycle, in a full helmet, *at night*, is going to look like to the gate people? I'm a small woman and if I had a motorcycle I wouldn't do that. Regardless of it being money-collection time, just think it through, people.

What it appears to be, is armed security picking up the cash from the toll booth. The security officer was on the ball. He saw a perceived threat, drew his sidearm and held it at low ready until the riders were identified as a non threat.

How was it a perceived threat. The park is over and people are leaving. Or are you just judging people that ride bikes?

People leaving dont get out of their car.in this case getting off the motorcycle , faces masked with a helmet, no immediate clue to what their intentions are. If i got out of my car with a ski mask on they would have responded the same way

welcome to riding a bike. I did it for 6 years. You guys act like the bikes knew they were cashing out. The moronic cops should have hit the red light so no one would have down the lane. He pulled the gun way to fast on those guys.

They were helmets not ski mask. That represents 2 separate situations. Don't put them in the same category as crooks because hey ride and bikes and have helmets...which they have to wear as its a California state law

I don't blame the guard either and I think he handled it well. His response was measured and he didn't exceed his authority.
No big deal in my book.

OTOH, the thing that makes me get a funny feeling about that video is when I used to drive to the park, we always paid for parking when we entered - not when we left.
Maybe that has changed?

The Downtown Disney lot is free for the first three hours then $6 an hour after that, if i remember correctly. So they charge on exit.

Why would they be recording their exit from the park? Expecting something to happen? Armed security I think did correct thing. Yes they should have closed lane. They left pretty late, barely any cars left in parking lot. Hmmm

A lot of riders use to Go Pros today. Mainly for people in cars that hate bikes and try to run them off the road. It happens ally believe it or not.

*shrug* Armed guard did not point his weapon. I can see why he got spooked (not because they were bikes, but because he got off the bike). Guys on bike didn't do anything wrong, guard didn't do anything wrong. Disney should've shut down the lane during a money collection. So technically I'm willing to say Disney made a mistake, but not a huge one.

As a former security officer in the USAF I think the guard did exactly as he was supposed to. It is not about the motorcycles, per se, but motorcycles make great get-away vehicles as they are manueverable and fast. And helmets are unparalleled at hiding identities. Can't even tell the gender of the rider immediately. They got off their bikes when it was not necessary and approached the booth. Doesn't matter that the lane was not closed. They were stupid for getting off their bikes and should have had payment ready and their ticket already out.

This. End thread.
