A friend of SWMBO just returned from FW and reported that they had a wonderful time. One warning though - don't leave trash or food out or the armadillos will come out at night and trash the place.

Also, God forbid you ever hit an armadillo with your car. It is like hitting a brick.

You're right - there are a lot of armadillos around. But, I've never seen them go into food or trash! We've had racoons get into the trash - but never armadillos. The armadillos we've seen at night just seem to be rooting around on the ground for slugs & stuff. :) But, I'm sure it could happen!

While "camping" with the Army in Texas many years ago, we witnessed an Armadillo tear an Alice pack to shreds in order to get a candy bar. They have some very sharp claws and can really do a number on a pack or tent.

We had an armadillo in our garbage over Easter. My husband had to throw water at it twice to get it out of there. We just watched it laughing, it was eating jalapeno peppers that were left over from nachos from Crockets Tavern. I wonder how his tummy felt after that.
