We are going to be at DL from May 26 - May 30 and I really want to take DD to Ariel's Grotto on her b'day. She is turning 4 on May 27th, I'm just wondering which would be better...lunch or dinner? Also, who are the princesses that are there during the dining, is there a way to find out? Are the portion sizes big enough to share with the kids or do you have to order a meal per person? How would I make a reservation so that we don't have to wait? Can we order a cake and have it delivered to the table?? Thanks

I'll try to help on a few questions:

Are the portion sizes big enough to share with the kids or do you have to order a meal per person? IMO they are really big portions. We had food to go afterwords.

How would I make a reservation so that we don't have to wait? Call the Disney Dinning number (714)781-DINE

I'm not sure about the others...:)

I can answer a few of your questions. We are having breakfast, so I am not sure between lunch and dinner. You have to order a meal per person (unless under age 3 I beleive). The princesses rotate throughout the day so you are never sure who you will see. They rotate between Cinderella, Belle,Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, Princess Minnie, Snow white and sometimes the fairy godmother I believe. I have never heard of a way you can for sure find out who is there.
You can call (714) 781-3463 to make a reservation. I beleive you can buy some sort of birthday package. We will be there on the 28th! Maybe we'll see you! :)

:goodvibes DS turns 4 on the 26th, and he wanted to have breakfast with the princesses, so we'll be there that morning. I did mention to them that it's his b'day, but I don't know if they'll do anything for him. However, he WILL have a b'day button so I'm hoping they will notice it and give him good wishes. :goodvibes

I have been there once for lunch and once for dinner. If I remember correctly at lunch I saw Donald, Pluto, and Chip N Dale. They got the little kids dancing around. It was really cute. Then the time I went to dinner I saw Ariel, Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White and Belle. Ariel was at the front when you walk in to take pictures(before you are seated). And the other princesses walked around to each table to sign autographs and take pictures. Each one came out about 5-10 minutes of each other.
I don't know if there's a way to find out who is going to show up but you could call and ask when you make your reservation.
You could probably share your meal because I usually end up taking my dessert home. I'm too full by the time my dessert comes around. But you do have to order a meal for each person in your party. It's almost like a fee to going in that includes a meal.
You can probably order a cake package when you call (when you make your reservation). Or you can just eat the dessert that is included in the meal and for your DD ask them to make her dessert special because it's her birthday.
Hope all this helps. Have fun and Happy Birthday to your DD! (my bday is the 28th...May babies!:) )

We did dinner in Oct and will again on Saturday! (Yes!! 2 more sleeps!!)
We saw Ariel, Cindy, Belle, Aurora and Snow...

iirc the lunch and dinner menu is the same so your food choices don't change. we did dinner last time and it was great. this year we are doing lunch. i'm leaning towards lunch just for the fact that the park is more crowded this time of day.

The menu is the same for lunch and dinner so that won't make a difference, we like going for a late lunch or early dinner, there are less people then.

Also, who are the princesses that are there during the dining, is there a way to find out? The princesses vary, we've seen Aurora, Ariel, Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, not all at the same time but over our last 5 meals. You will get 5 but the only one that is guaranteed is Ariel.

Are the portion sizes big enough to share with the kids or do you have to order a meal per person? Every person over 3 will be charged for a meal, even if they don't order.

How would I make a reservation so that we don't have to wait? Call the number provided above to make a PS. Tell them you are celebrating a birthday and ask about the cake.

Can we order a cake and have it delivered to the table?? We didn't have cake for DD8's b-day, we did get a birthday bucket that your DD would probably love, it was a little bucket with a cone shaped top, it came with a pin, comb and brush and stickers with a little cake on the top.

Thanks everyone, she is going to be so excited! I don't have a problem ordering something for her but it was my 2 year old son that I didn't want to have to spend 17.00 on a meal....he wouldn't eat most of it anyways and I would just share mine with him or split DD's with him.

You should be able to either share with him or get him a toddler meal, it will be cheaper and much less food.

I just booked a priority seating for Ariel's for the day after Memorial Day. We'll have a 2 yr old with us. I was told she would get a 1/2 child's portion for free.

Toddler meal at Ariel's is free. Just was there couple weeks ago for dinner. They brought DD one piece of fish (much bigger than a fish stick, kind of the size from Captain D's), small scoop of mashed potatoes, and small serving of green beans. Came with a drink as well. Perfect size for her, although all she ate was the fish b/c she was so excited about meeting all the Princesses!

Sorry, I'm a little confused  Was this at Ariel's Grotto???? I want to take my kids to Ariel's, but I would really hate to get there to find those characters at the princess meal.

Those characters will not be at AG, a long time ago they used to fill in but not anymore, you will only see Princess type characters, including the Fairy Godmother.
