Ariels Grotto or Minnie's breakfast?

My DD was wearing the same dress as Ariel and the interaction was still meh. I'm sure it all depends on the mood of the princesses that day but it was just dull. The food was bad and it's not something I'd repeat. We love princesses, my daughter is even named after one, but it's just not magical. I do highly recommend dressing up though. She got star treatment all over in her dress and loved it.

DDs were both dressed up. DD1 as Belle (day dress) and DD2 as Elena. Belle commented just before walking away on the fact that she had a dress like DD1, but that was the only additional interaction from any of them. As ExcitedMama said, the interaction was just Meh. But, the girls love dressing up, and they had great CM reactions everywhere else, so I agree with having the kids dress up. (The best interactions we ever got was when DS was 2 at Akershus in Epcot. All the princesses fawned over him dressed as a knight. Officially it was an Edmund Pevensie costume, but hey, they all thought he looked like Prince Philip, and who was I to argue?)

I prefer Minnie's, the food is better and there are LOTS of characters. The food at Ariel's was not good at all, we were so disappointed. Will not do Ariel's again.

We did an Ariel's Grotto lunch and a Plaza Breakfast on our DLR trip this year. Even for a princess fan (see my profile pic!) my DD liked Minnie's breakfast and the plaza better. Buffets are fun for her, plus more characters equals more autographs, which is always on top for her!

The characters at Plaza Inn are also just more fun. Tigger gets you to bounce around, Hook wants to do pirate poses, Chip and Dale always dance with and twirl her. So that is very engaging for kids. Whereas the princesses are in character as, well, princesses, so they are less "fun" and more serene and regal.

I will say that she liked the little "show" at Ariel's Grotto where each princess is announced and comes out to her music, but she is a princess girl who is into all the pomp and circumstance.

Oh! I should add that DD was dressed in Ariel's town dress at the Grotto and got little recognition. She had a giant blue bow and everything! (That said, I think characters can be forgiven because they probably don't see Ariel's town dress very often.)

She was "Disneybounding" as mermaid Ariel at the Plaza (maxi dress with green patterned skirt and purple bodice) and more than one character pointed out the dress and gave a thumbs up or somehow suggested they realized it was a mermaid dress.

Yeah, my two girls and my niece have all dressed in princess dresses for Ariel's and they didn't get any more interaction than they have gotten non dressed. Twice they have gotten slightly more interaction than normal. One of those times they were dressed the same, wearing shirts with a princess minnie on them, all three girls were wearing tiara's. They looked adorable! The other time my oldest was wearing a Tshirt that had Cinderella on it with a saying " Boys come and go but shoes are forever". Cinderella loved the shirt and had a little conversation with DD about glass slippers.
