Ariel's Grotto is NOT a buffet?

My boys and DH chose this as our first DL meal ) ... my kids would take Ariel over Stitch any day) based on the idea that it was a buffet. But it looks from the description here on the dis and the UG that you choose from a menu? Crud, that won't work. They are all about buffets and it's the only way I can get the littlest one to eat anything.

So, onto reserving Goofy's Kitchen or the Lilo and Stitch brunches, I guess. We are arriving too late for the Storyteller's character breakfast. Can we park at either of the DLR hotels there in order to eat? Kind of stretch to walk from Hojo's, I'm sure, especially if we aren't planning intermediate playtime in the parks.

This trip has been planned for months but I am having so much trouble getting the lay of the land at DL, not sure why.

Heh heh, mom loves family style because that means I get to eat in peace! Do you know if the menus are posted anywhere? (nevermind! Found them at allearsnet. Not sure why I never looked there before!)

You are right, its not a buffet. Its a set menu where you pick one item for each course. Storytellers does offer a dinner buffet, but there are not characters.

If you are just going to one of the hotels to eat, you can park in the downtown disney lot. The first 3 hours are free.

You said you werent planning on playing in the parks right way. Give us a better idea of your schedule/ plan and maybe we can guide you.

We are driving to DL from San Diego on a Sunday morning and hoping to arrive around 11 a.m.

Check in at Hojos (though room won't be ready yet, of course) and head to a character brunch or lunch.

Most likely hang around DTD until our room is ready. Optionally, we could go into a park, and that was our original plan with Ariel's, but I am wondering if the crowds of a Sunday afternoon would be off-putting for our very first visit. though we'd likely just explore and not do many rides Our youngest two will be way overdue for naps by the time our room is available, I'm sure.

Goofy's Kitchen would work best for you, they are all about buffets for every meal! We've parked at the DLH for Goofy's Kitchen before if I'm not mistaken. There is also the DTD parking area.

Ariel's is not a buffet, that's one of the things I like most about it. Breakfast is served family style, big platter of eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, potatoes with fruit, pastries and spreads on a seperate plate. For lunch and dinner it's a set menu, you get to chose from each section, a starter (soups, salad), a main course and a dessert.
Goofy's Kitchen is a buffet, Lilo & Stitch is a buffet, Minnie's breakfast is a buffet. Of those my faves are Lilo & Stitch and Minnie.
