ARGUMENT FREE Roll Call For AP RATES!!!

I also was not going to book at rack rate but was convinced by the CM to book and await the AP discounts being released.

My thought is, people have booked at rack rate for years now while they anticipated getting the AP or other 'coded' rate so they could ensure they got a room at their desired location. Wouldn't research by the marketing group show a large sway when rates were released from rack rate priced rooms being booked to the discounted ones? This seems like something that they would anticipate if they truly were doing as much market research as they seem they are doing. Judging by all of the postcard surveys I receive after a stay as well as the 'straw polls' I participate in and see being conducted in the parks, I would think that they certainly had enough data!

I also have tried to switch to the Swan or Dolphin but my 1st night is booked. There are no AP rates when I'm going, I don't think (Oct 22 for 5 nts) but there is a good Entertainment rate. I would even pay rack rate for the 1st night and the Entertainment rate for the rest, but there is no room to be had period and I don't want to switch hotels after 1 night...

HTH someone!

Boo'sMom, would you be willing to post the URL she gave you? Thanks a lot.

I too was directed to WDWs online site - they told me to check for Florida residents and AP holders page.. I could not get this to work so that & above message tells me they WILL be out. I will prevail !!! few $$ saved + more souvenirs and sit down meals :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I can't seem to find the AP Holder page on the Disney site. Can someone direct me where to find it? All that I see is for Florida Residents.

The easiest way to get to this page is via www.disneyworld.com from there click on "Florida and Passholder" link (bottom right of page) and then you will be prompted for your zip code and the passcode on your AP.

Just called 11:30am CST--CM said that there will be a FL res area on the WDW site and you will have to enter your AP number off the back of your ticket-- So...... guess this won't help those who don't have a pass in their hands yet. The CM did say you will still be able to call and check on AP rates though.Hope this helps!

This site won't let me in. It keeps saying that my zip code is not a valid Florida zip code. Of couse not, I'm from NJ! Anyone else able to get into this site?

It dont work for me either!, after that message I will be calling 7am every day until September 8th!!!:smooth:
I must admit I always had faith in the Disney Magic. This is why I kept my ressies!!!

I was just able to get into this site, I'm from IL. It has all passholder benefits, but under resots , says to see Mickey Monitor.

I think the best way to judge, why some love to stay on-site, is to try it (I believe you said you hadn't done that yet). We have stayed for as little as $49 in the Allstars, so the money difference has been nil..the benefits in our eyes have been great. Of course since you enjoy staying off-site and intend to spend equal time away from Disney, for you it may not matter..for us it does.

There are money advantages staying off-site which may be worth it to some, so people have to do what their expense level and wishes are.
-----------------------

If I ever go to Disney alone, I "might" be tempted to try Pop Century (IF it could be had for $49 a night) just because it looks kind of interesting in the photos.. Traveling with others though, I would never survive being cramped in a room the size of the All Stars and it would really, really rub me the wrong way to have to pay extra for a fridge or buy a cooler and have to fill it with ice.. I understand the theory behind this - it encourages people to spend more money on Disney food - but there are many off-site hotels that not only supply you with a fridge & microwave, but also provide a free breakfast as well.. It's the principle of the matter with me - greed, for lack of a better word..

As for the transportation issue, I would always rent a car - no matter where I stay - because I just can't deal with waiting for busses and such.. I want to go where I want, when I want, and not have to wait for a bus to take me there.. I know I'm spoiled in that respect, but I more than had my fill of "busses" years ago when I lived in the city and didn't have a vehicle..

I think for many people who stay off-site - myself included - it's not so much about what they can "afford", but more about what they perceive as a good "value.. " For people who do choose to stay on-site, what they see as "convenience" may translate into a good value for them - but for those who don't see any "inconvenience" to staying off-site, the value isn't there..

If I ever decide to say on-site (which quite frankly I would literally have to force myself to do because I just don't have that burning desire to stay in any of the resorts) I'll let you all know if I change my mind.. I don't see it happening anytime soon though.. ;)

Meanwhile, I hope you all have a great time on your upcoming trips - and you get to stay wherever it is that you have your heart set on... :)

C. Ann - yes, it's all a matter of what you find convenient. I should have mentioned in my earlier post that we never rent a car - so we rely heavily on Disney transportation.

We too always rent a car..but not all of us always want to go in the same direction (and sometimes one of us might not feel well, and want to catch up later)..so being on-site makes it easy..we just split up, and I let my daughter and kids find their own ways home to our room. None of us feel "joined" at the hip this way.
We used to stay off-site (this was after staying in the campground at Disney for several years in our own RV)..and I used to feel like you do..then I stayed on-site (my favorite is POR although I'll also stay at AllStars, since we are seldom all in the room except to sleep) and found the advantages, and now that's where I prefer.

Hopefully you'll stay on-site once and have a wonderful experience..just to see how it is. As far as food..I bring a collapsible cooler, but as far as cooking in our room..no interest in livign with the smell, so we bring our hot cereal or bread to the food court and eat it there..they have micro, toaster, and I dont'have to do more than toss my leftovers in the trash. I have no interest in cooking while on vacation, and we are some of the few who have no problem with Disney's food prices..guess we've found all the "less expensive" places to eat. I eat a kid's meal breakfast often for $3.75..and feel I've done good, and hubby and I share most lunches and dinners.

I'm happy I've decided and settled in for the Marriot..as close to Disney as I can be and not be there, transportation will still be available if we need it, so it's the best of both worlds for this trip. Miss my AP rates, but oh well.

Well I really think it will be interesting to hear the reviews when people start staying at the Pop Century.. I know lots of folks have said it's "gawdy" and "an eyesore" - but from the photos I've seen I think it looks kind of "whimsical" aand "carefree".. Certainly not a deluxe, but then it's not supposed to be.. Seems like it might be an entertaining place for kids - or even parents (or grandparents ;) ) who want to take a "trip down memory lane".. Can't wait to hear what everyone has to say!

If you can go by the boards here (or maybe you've already stayed there before) the Marriot seems to be a great choice.. Actually, I thought you were ALREADY down there 'cause I haven't seen you too much this past week..

Hope you have a great time and the weather is kind to you! :)

Actually, I thought you were ALREADY down there 'cause I haven't seen you too much this past week..

We were away this week, and I had limtited computer time..our WDW trip is in September. Well our next one anyway. Pop Century is our January plans. It reminds me of AllStars, and I'm looking forward to it. It's a value and I understand that..but I did love looking at it as it was being built. I like the area it's in too. Dare I wish for AP rates for Pop Century in January?

Personally, I think for people who haven't stayed on site before moderates, like POR would be a better first choice..not so busy busy busy like the values are, and a sit down restruant, slightly bigger rooms with two sinks, and more privacy (seems like the place isn't crowded the way it's set up)..as well as entertainment (Bob!).

I am still getting that error message about zip code being invalid ??? I am typing in my pass number !!!
Talk about computer problems!!!!!

Nothing at 9:30 EST. The CM said they were all expecting something to come out today and she was surprised nothing has been released yet.
