For some reason, I decided to check my flights to/from MCO today. Good thing I did!!! They changed my Dec 11th departure from 9:50AM to 8:30AM. There's no way we'd be able to make the early flight so I called US Air and at no charge the moved us to the 12:45PM flight. Only problem is, there are not 2 seats together. DD is either going to be 1 row behind me of in front of me. Hopefully someone will be willing to let us sit together.

Does anyone have experience with not getting seats together and some nice sould trading with one of you?

Yes. Eight of us traveled together this summer and the travel agency neglected to get us seats together on the plane. What a mess. We didn't all end up next to each other, but many folks were willing to switch places so that two here, two there, three here, etc. could sit together. With only two people you really may not have a problem, especially if one of you is willing to tradea a "better" seat.

We found that if one of us was willing to trade our aisle seat, or window seat for a middle seat, that person in the middle almost always said yes.

Good luck to you and good thing you double checked!

Just tell the attendant at the gate when you check in your situation, I've had to do this several times over the years with DD. They looked up seats and called passengers up to ask them if they would be willing to relocated so a mom and daughter could sit together.
One time I got an IDIOT attendant, I told her I need to get switched to seats together, and she just looked at me like I was insane and said sorry it's a full flight. I said "do you SEE my daughter? (she was sitting on the counter) She is TWO, I'd be happy to have a flight to myself, but I'm sure your other passengers don't want to sit by an unattended 2 year old."
She STILL seemed confused as to why I wanted a change

Chris and I moved 2x one time to get a family together. We were actually upgraded to First Clase one of the times. It was nice!! I'm sure someone will help out.

Wow, DVC, I can't believe your agent didn't get your seats together. And she didn't tell you this ahead of time? Not good. Maybe if you booked popular flights, and they were already kind of full by the time you booked, she couldn't get 8 together? If not, she didn't do her job very well. At the very least she should have told you!

VW, you can request new seats at airport check in. If you are checking luggage, you can do it then, rather than waiting until you get to the gate. Here's a bit of info... the airlines keep approximately 20% of the plane open for seats, and ONLY open them the DAY OF the flight. Therefore, if you get to the airport early enough, you should have first dibs. Better yet, call from home in the early morning and have them switch you. Tell them your situation and there "shouldn't" be any probelm. I say "shouldn't" because with the airlines there is NEVER ANY guarantee.

If you get a crabby, nasty, or lazy airline agent, just hang up and call back and get someone else.

Hope this helps.

Hey, I wonder if they'll upgrade us to 1st class so we can sit together? I know, I'm dreaming big, huh? :D :p

 LOL! VW, do you mean, the airlines "give" you something for nothing? LOL! That's a good one!!! That would be awsome, but that'd be the day! Good luck, anyway!
