ARGH! When it rains, it pours!

DD came down with the flu today, and I was supposed to go meet with a house inspector to give him a check for our house inspection today, plus I was going to go through the house with him. I'm not comfortable leaving DD for any longer than it would take to run and drop off the check, so it'll just have to be that way. Now I just got a call that my dad's finger swelled to the size of a balloon and they need me to take him to a specialist over 50 miles away! Tried to call DH to see if he could do it, and he left his cell phone home and he's not at his desk.

Anyway, my sister is taking off work early to get my dad to the specialist, but we're still left scrambling to figure out how to take care of her baby when I don't have a baby seat for my car.

Sheesh. Any one of these things is manageable, but why does it all have to happen at once?

We scrambled around and she was able to get hold of her hubby to come home to take care of the baby. Having me get him wasn't ideal because of the flu going around my house -- the baby's been having respiratory problems himself.

I'm worried about my dad. The primary care doctor said it looked like a really bad infection, but from what? I know it sounds stupid, but I'm afraid it has to do with his heart... could something have gotten blocked in a finger? I don't know.

You mean like a blood clot in the finger? I'm not sure, but he's getting looked at quickly and that makes all the difference. Hugs!

I hope your day gets better. It could be a strep infection in his finger if he got a papercut or something he can get the infection that way. It seems like they are catching it early so I'm sure he'll be okay. I know how stressful it can be to worry about your parents.

Well, he's back from the specialist -- the guy wants him back tomorrow morning to run tests. He doesn't know what it is, but he gave him a couple of different types of meds for it, one being an antibiotic. He suggested gout, but he wasn't sure.

My poor dad. Always having to run his butt off for my mom. I'm going to have to go over there tonight to see what I can do, but I'm sure she'll still find a million things that only he can do.

A while back, he was complaining to me that he would constantly have to get up to hand her something that was just out of her reach. So, I sent over one of those long arm grabber things so she could get things for herself, but she didn't like it and sent it back to me. I don't know what we're going to do with them.
