running down my drive out of my new car!!!!

As you can imagine got the shock of my life ten minutes ago to go to my new car and discover it has red smelly stuff running from under it. Now theres no men in (I am no a car girl and dont understand it).

Anybody out there any suggestions, rung my brother and he's saying steering fluid, and not to move it,

So I have rung the garage and they want to book me in within the next MONTH!! saying yes it could be leaking break or steerin fluid, and I said to them a leak in stering or break fluid isnt that dangerous, to get the reply that yes but Im insured (well yeah but I prefer to be alive these days) and they say to drive it

Now I have just had to call my dad, and hes working in Saudi Arabia for two weeks to explain the garage is fobbing me off, he's gonna call them,

So should I drive it to pick my mum up or send a taxi?

I would leave it in the drive until someone can have a look at it. Better to be safe than sorry.

Leave it on the drive. Leaking of any type of fluid can't be good. I hope you get it fixed asap :wizard:

Don't move it!

Both brake fluid and power steering fluid are highly flammable

Hi all,
I could be mistaken, but i'm sure that tramission fluid is red.Could it be this maybe.I would figure that there are many different types of brake and steering fluid, but the type i use both are yellow and clear fluid.

Are you a member of say AA, RAC or Green Flag if so and you ahve home cover call them out. If oily DH says it could be brake fluid and if watery could be antifreeze.

Claire ;)

I don't have much of an idea I'm afraid, but I once had an accident that smashed all the engine, and the brake fluid was flourescent green as it ran down the street....

I wouldn't drive it under any circumstances - just not worth the risk unless you were 100% sure it was only the windscreen spray - that's the only car fluid thing I can think of that doesn't really matter....

Maybe call a different garage, play the innocent lady and I'm sure you'll get more sense.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted :goodvibes

my dad called the garage from saudi and made them come and take it so they can look at it (as it is a brand new 06 reg car) gets a call it is leaking steering fluid and they have sent a courtesy car till they fix mine tomorrow.

At least you have a vehicle until yours is repaired.

Anna ~ I can sympathise with you. DF's drives a Lotus and I have to talk really nice to him to let me drive it.
