Apparently, I'm allergic to something previously unknown to me and have broken out in incredibly itchy hives all over my chest (but only there). I've no clue what it is or was, but was wondering if anyone who's had hives before (I'm allergic to a bunch of things, but have never broken out from any of them) knows what the best way to kill the itch is. I've taken an Allegra and will probably stop at Walgreens to get some Benadryl on the way to work, and have spritzed the area with Benadryl spray, but it's still itching like a son of a gun where my shirt is touching it. Today would be SUCH the perfect day to stay home and be topless all day. :headache:

TIA!

Get a bottle of Sarna lotion at the pharmacy. It stinks but usually takes the itch away. DH has prescribed it since medical school. :)

I like the Gold Bond medicated anti-itch cream. Does the trick for me on hives.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look for the Sarna after work if this is still irritating the life out of me. So far, the Corticool lotion and the Benadryl spray are doing roughly *squat* to help. Grr.

I have suffered chronic hives during periods throughout my life. I think Zyrtec does better against hives than any other antihistimine. Also, oddly, Chlortrimiton is fairly good for me as well. And, crazy as it sounds, the anti acid medicine Zantac is also helpful. Take that along with the Zyrtec. They act similarly on receptors.
