Ok, so if I purchase e-tickets from Ares travel, do I need to go to the ticket booth to redeem them for real tickets???

Yes. It's a voucher, not an e-ticket, so you need to take it to the ticket booth.

No. You just take the printout to the gate. They scan it and give you a normal-sized ticket that will work in the FASTPASS machines. You do NOT need to wait in line for the ticket booth!

ARES does not sell vouchers. They are print-at-home e-tickets.

Hmmmm, I bought my tickets through ARES in March, and it was indeed a voucher, which I printed at home. I then had to take that voucher to the DLR ticket booths to exchange for an actual ticket.

The following is directly from the ARES website:

Who will redeem the voucher(s)?

It will be shared with the attraction and, in the unlikely event that the activity or service needs to be changed or canceled, the operator will use this information to try to notify the guest listed above. Note: Guests may pick up their tickets at any main entrance ticket window. Personal photo identification will be required. If you are a guest at a Disneyland® Resort Hotel (Disneyland® Hotel, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa, or Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel), you may pick up your tickets upon check-in. Guests staying at all other hotels present your Quick Order Pickup confirmation and photo identification at any main entrance ticket window of the Disneyland® Resort. Parking is not included with your Disneyland® ticket. For questions or park hours please call 714-781-7290. Ticket expires 13 days after first use.

As far as I know, the only way to purchase on-line and go straight to the gate is if you purchase through Disneyland.com.

That's odd. I was definitely under the impression that you just take the printout to the gate. (I have recently done this exact process with print-at-home Disneyland tickets that were NOT purchased at Disneyland.com.)

However, just to be on the safe side, I will call my contact at ARES on Monday and double check on this!

Where were they purchased from? I'd be interested to know of another source that allows you to print actual "e-tickets" instead of vouchers.

It's a site that offers DL ticket discounts for employees of certain companies. I'm not going to post the name because if you qualify to buy tickets from it, you already know about it. It's not open to the public.

Well, I apologize. DangerMouse was absolutely correct. ARES calls it an "e-ticket" but you do have to take it to the park ticket booths. I had assumed it worked like the other e-ticket I recently used, but I was wrong. Sorry about that!
