they have been going off for weeks around here now We had to laugh last night as they were very loud.....Jarvis was fast asleep on the sofa and he never even blinked !!

My two dogs are very different. Shadow gets very outraged and would stand out in the garden barking all night if she could as in "How dare they make so much noise!" whereas Skye gets very frightened, won't set one foot in the garden and wants to cuddle into us.

Well i have a goldfish so i can't really speak for him, but i was listening to the radio the other day and they said pets can get used to the bangs, its the way their exposed to them. They recommended maybe playing firework sounds down the computer on the days leading up to the 5th.

I've got two rescue greyhounds.
One older guy from the SSPCA, he's called Shug, There was no background info for him and he's always been very nervous, he hates fireworks and gets into a bit of a state.

The younger guy, Bob, from the Dogs Trust, is the exact opposite,
Very laid back and they don't phase him.

We're off to the vets tommorrow with the older man to see if she can give us a sedative or something to keep him calm for the next few nights.

Wish they would ban the things and keep them strictly for display purposes only.

We live by Himley Hall and they have an organised display every year. My cats don't normally bother with the noise but last night Akai was a little scared until his mommy calmed him down bless!!!!!!!

Our dog loves watching them when we have some in our garden & just barks at the loud ones that others set off.

Our old dog used to hate them & hide when they went off around here.

We dont have pets but we were saying last night that it was the first time we had heard a firework go off The shops and police have really tightened up on selling them and it seems to have made a difference as they usually go off for weeks.

If it was up to me they would not be sold at all.

I don't agree. If you have a garden and use common sense it's straight forward to take precautions to have a safe domestic display. IMHO nothing beats firework night with your whole family, tomato soup, sausages and burgers and the excitement of seeing your Mum or Dad light the fireworks.....

I agree it's very sad that some pets, especially dogs are so traumatised by the whole thing, when I was growing up we had a rescue dog that got in such a pickle at this time of year he had to be sedated night after night. Sometimes we used to pack off to our friends who had a farm in the middle of nowhere....

Luckily we don't tend to get many too near to our house, we do hear and see them in the distance but they aren't too loud unless you go outside.

Thankfully Stamford has never been bothered by them, we have yet to see what Bailey will be like.

Hi I really agree with you - whilst I do enjoy watching fireworks I hate to see my dogs go through so much terror-

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just 5th November -however they have been going off for the last 2 weeks.

I have got a dap plug in and that has helped a little.

I always make sure the pets are in, but the cats sit in the window and watch them and the bunnies seem to be OK with them too. They sit in the run and watch them aswell!!

We have two King Charles' and they're both different.

Our little girl doesn't blink an eyelid, but our boy goes balistic, he HATES them! It's such a shame for him, he gets himself so wound up with them that he shakes. It's difficult to calm him down, we dread this time of year with him.

Like I say, our girl on the other hand, just sits and doens't care less - she is extremely lazy though, probably can't be bothered using the effort to actually bark!!

My little Westie Jock HATES fireworks, just as well he does not come to WDW with us He barks and barks at them, we did sedate him a few years ago but he fell all over the place and NEVER again!

My cats do not appreciate fireworks at all. They are scared by them. They all will go hiding, and when the fireworks are over, then they will re-appear.

My cats Smudge+Max are not bothered by them,but Sam looks around scared and hides in the cupboard under the stairs.x.
