We will not be renewing our annual passes this time around.
My twin sister is getting married on July 24, 2004. My cousin is getting married in September of 2004. One of my best friends is on the verge of "the proposal" so that wedding would be next year as well. I am/would be standing up for all of these weddings. I'll have three bridesmaid dresses after next year. Maybe I could just wear the same dress to all of them? LOL.
The expense of the dresses, etc etc will keep our pocketbook active for next year. Disney trips next year will most likely not be in the budget.
Also, we have been to Disney several times in the last years. We fly from Omaha so it's a bit of a challege to go twice a year but we've done it and loved every minute.
I'll admit we originally bought the annual pass because it made sense for the park entry. Then we got used to the annual pass rate for the rooms. After this round of holding my breath for the annual pass rates, I just can't do it anymore. When we go again (as in when our AP expires) we will pay the AAA rate and not worry about "the room discount" of the AP rate.
It seems as if Disney is moving towards the hard sell of the package. Makes business sense for them but does not work logistically for DH and I. Our work schedules and family lives (one of my parents has a terminal illness) is too unpredictable to pay for a package that can not be easily cancelled. I feel way more comfortable with a "room only" ressie that I can cancel up to a few days prior to our arrival. We usually don't book airfare until late in the game and are pretty sure that we are going.
We also want to check out other vacation spots. Another poster mentioned Ireland. We would love to go in the near future.
