Are you really that important/lazy/in a hurry?

I dropped my 4 year old off at pre-school this morning. The car in front of me pulls into on of the two handicap spots. She has no sticker or mirror hanger and is not handicapped that I can tell.

There are parking spots directly across from her spot (several) and one three cars down.

Are you really in that big of a hurry that you can't take the extra 5 seconds to walk three cars further?

I see several people do this at the school. It's not a lack of parking spots. I am so happy to be a healthy, active person I can't imagine using a handicap spot to save a few extra feet of walking.

Vent over.

People at DD's school does this. They don't want their precious child to have to walk just a smidge more into the parking lot. We also have a pick up/drop off line that is a turn around so people use that. but in the parking lot, they will eiher park in handicap with no sticker or plate, or if they are handicap don't get out just wait for their kid. or my favorite is: they make a pick up line in the parking lot and block cars in then have a fit when they have to move. the parking lot isn't big, as in there is only room enough for 1 car going one way and one car going the other way leaving the parking lot.

all because they are too lazy to park in a regular spot or have their kid walk more then they have to.

They do it at my DDs elementary school too,and it is really irritating. When they have an after school activity, the teacher wants to see the parent before they will let the child go--this can be by going into the school, or waiting on the sidewalk for the kids to come out, so everyone has to park.

I have a handicapped tag. I often can't park in a handicapped spot because someone who doesn't need it has taken it. Some days, if I am having a good day, this is no big deal. Other days, just getting in and out of the car is painful, and walking the whole way across the parking lot is excruciating. Doesn't matter though, Mrs Perfect has to take the handicapped space because she just doesn't have time to waste. I wish they bothered to do something about it, but everyone knows that the signs that say you will be fined are ignored.

i take pictures. my city will ticket the offender if you send in a pic of them in the spot. you have to make sure you can clearly see the license plate though. it makes my day. maybe they'll think twice before taking those spots from the people that actually need them.

You should see the free for all at the high school! When I give DS a ride, there are people who pass others in areas where cars aren't even supposed to drive and tons of them totally ignore the school zone speed limit. I love the people who slow down from 40 to 30 in a 20 mph school zone so that they can get to one of the traffic lights faster. All of these people obviously believe that their time is VERY important.

This is my biggest gripe of the day - MS/HS drop off! There are VERY clear rules of how to drive through the drop off loop - single file, no zipping, darting in & out, no passing, etc. But it does tend to get backed up & the impatient people just make 2 or 3 lanes (where pedestrians cross) and they just pull in & out wherever they want. It makes me INSANE. Why are you so important that you have to fly past the line-up waiting for drop off to get your kid out so fast? FOLLOW THE STINKIN' RULES!!

Just this morning, someone from about 6 cars behind me pulled out abruptly & sped past the line-up of waiting cars because they just couldn't wait their turn like everyone else. I saw her coming from behind so I honked & yelled at the woman. DS13 (who is usually moody & silent on the drive in) started busting up laughing & he said "mom, this is the best part of my whole day!"

Big pet peeve of mine, as well.

Actually, in my city, there is a class you can take to get "certified" to write tickets for people parking in handicapped spots that don't have a tag or plates.

Both my husband and I can now write tickets if we see someone parked in a handicapped spot that shouldn't be. The only thing that kind of sucks is that we have to be inside the city limits to write the tickets-and we live outside the city limits (so if I go to my neighborhood grocery store and see a vehicle in violation I can't do anything about it because it is not within the city limits). However, we make sure to bring out ticket booklets with us whenever we go into the city.

OMG that is the COOLEST thing that your city has that - I want my city to do that too! Ever see the show Parking Wars? OMG I swear that job was made for me. I cannot stand people that break the rules because they're too entitled to follow them. I would LOVE to just be some sort of officer of parking & traffic - rules are black & white, if you can't follow them, buh-bye!

I told DH a few weeks ago that I'm quitting my paying job to be the volunteer traffic aide at the drop off loop at school (currently there is none) - that would just make my day!

I love Parking Wars!!!!!!!! DD12 says I would perfect for that job. No, sir you can't park on the sidewalk, you jackwagon.

Oh gosh, one of my major pet peeves. People think they are the most important people in the universe!

We live next to a little country market. There is a parking lot across the street from the market. (not even a wide street!) People will park in front of my DRIVEWAY and block me in ALL the time. I don't get it, there are actual parking spots and it's always empty..but they just HAVE to park closer in front of my driveway. I've had a chat with a few and they always say they didn't realize it was a driveway....right....you thought I parked ON MY LAWN! :confused3 People are NUTS!

OMG that happened to my mom. 4th of July weekend, she's literally 9 months pregnant (DB was born on the 8th). Some woman parked across our driveway, which was just deep enough for 2 cars, side by side. Totally blocked us in. We lived across the street from a beach that had a fireworks show, so parking was a nightmare!!
My dad called the beach and they made announcement after announcement and she never came so my dad jacked up the car and took all the tires off her car. She called the cops and the cops ticketed her and said he'd do the same thing. It was hilarious!

Some folks think that the world revolves around them. They were brought up to think that.

My best friend just had knee surgery and has a handicap tag to hang up. She uses handicapped spots while dropping her son off at school, but sometimes she forgets to hang up the tag and has been yelled at before. It makes her feel bad but she really isn't supposed to be hiking long distances and legitimately needs the tag.

It does make me mad when people use the handicapped spots when they aren't handicapped and don't have the proper tag or plate for it, but since you aren't supposed to leave the tag up while driving, it's definitely possible that someone just forgot to hang it, so although sometimes I'd really like to, I never say anything when I see it happen.

I think it's simply a total disregard for anything and anyone beyond themselves. People tend to make up their own rules. Consideration for others rarely fits into the process.

isn't that the truth:sad2:. More "You first after me " mentality:headache:
