Are you impacted by the Jif peanut butter recall?

I noticed this past weekend all our little JIF peanut butter packets were gone in the hospital. I’d never really appreciated how important an item peanut butter is for us to have on hand - until we didn’t have it anymore. We often give some toast or crackers and peanut butter to patients who want just a little something to eat, especially during off hours. Or staff who don’t have time for a break can quickly throw together a pbj sandwich. (I‘d offered some crackers and jelly to patients, and had no takers.)

I also noticed in the supermarket the choices were sort of slim. It took me a long time to find something to get. We eat a fair amount of peanut butter at home, too.

It made me wonder about how peanut butter can be such a staple for kids, and how some kids like only certain brands, etc.

Now I see it’s affecting many other products that include peanut butter, not just peanut butter itself.

So has the Jif recall impacted you?

What to know about Jif peanut butter recall in other snacks

I was not... it's so weird because I went through a peanut butter phase not long ago. For the first time in a long time I bought a bar of Jif (it was a weird light blue label I had never seen before, but looked healthier).

Anyway, the almost empty jar was sitting on my desk at work. Somebody told me it was NOT part of the recall, which there might only be a spoonful left in the jar at that point. It would have been too late anyway. Either that or they saw it was almost empty already and didn't want to freak me out.

Yes, we were finally ready to open a jar I'd bought late last year for the "Covid stash." (backup foods in case of quarantine)

It was one of the recalled jars, so I trashed it.

We don't usually eat any other foods containing peanut butter, so no concerns about what else we might have.

Yes. Between work and home we had 4 jars of various sizes plus a spoonful left in one jar. All were recalled. I threw out the almost empty jar and filled out a recall form on their website for the unopened jars. Supposedly they will send me coupons for replacements. I should throw out those jars too, I was waiting for confirmation that they received my submission and there were no errors in the numbers I typed in. I have that now so they should be tossed.

ugh, we had 2 of the giant Sams jars of it that were recalled. We eat a lot of PB in our house lol. Now all I can find is crunchy and none of us like that.

Thank goodness our jars were not on the list. I have a PBJ sandwich for lunch M-F and DH has it occasionally.

We had a box of the Jif Go Cups at our house that were recalled, so we submitted for coupons from the Jif site and tossed them. But overall we are not a big time consuming peanut butter household, and I like Peter Pan equally as much., though of course you can't hardly find that right now. I got a jar of Peter Pan Crunchy at the grocery over the weekend to have on hand incase we needed some PB (we occasionally eat on toasted waffles or english muffins).

I had to return Jif to the grocery store for a refund, and had to get skippy :(

The ones that were in my possession were not on the list. Even if they were, I would just have returned them, and bought some that were not on the list. I've tried all the peanut butter ever sold and found Jif to be the best. I did have a short flirtation with Skippy when Annette Funicello was the spokesperson, but even her connection didn't keep me away from Jif for very long.

I only eat Jif, and my half empty jar was on the recall list. Since I had eaten half of it with no issues, I was tempted to just finish it, but in the end, I threw it out. I ended up having to get store brand, which was all that was left at my grocery, but I couldn’t start hurricane season without peanut butter. It tastes like cardboard. I will be very happy when Jif returns.

Kind of but not really. My household only buys Skippy but I'm concerned that people may be buying up all of the Skippy due to the Jif recall. I still have large tubs left so I don't need to buy any right now. We'll see how the shelves look when those are empty I guess.

I noticed there were a lot of Crunchy options, too, but not a lot of Smooth.

I have bought the All Natural peanut butters before, like Teddy, but no one else likes it so it goes to waste.
