Its at our house again. Seems all the holidays are at our house.
Who else is hosting?

I have given absolutely no thought yet to what we are having.

We host every major holiday. My niece just sent out an All Family E-mail, asking them to all pitch in & bring the food for this Easter Brunch. My Mom just came home from the hospital today on Hospice Care. One of the reasons that we always host is because Mom lives with us & it's easier if she can just stay home. (we're also centrally located & have a big house!)

Everyone is bringing something, and I will have the ham and the pineapple filling.

Yep Easter is here. So far the menu is Leg of Lamb, Spiral Ham with Pineapple Chutney, Ravioli, Roasted Potatoes, Grilled Veggies, and LOTS of desserts! My whole family chips in though so we all cook, the location just changes.

It always comes down to who gets to make the bunny cake...

Yup- we're hosting my parents and brothers this year...no extras! BUT, my mom has decided that her and I are making our traditional breakfast bake and cinnamon rolls (TO DIE FOR) the night before. THEN, after church on Sunday we're all going out for lunch...which we've RARELY ever done. I am a little 'tired out' from hosting Thanksgvng AND Christmas (about a week before actual Christmas) this year. My mom and I don't feel like cleaning up, doing all the work and spending the day in the kitchen.

we are "doing" easter on the morrow (well, actually, today) since I work easter (I am a server). future DIL is having it! YAY! brunch. all I have to do is play with the grandkids! (and work my butt off ON Easter!
I suggest going out to eat! (of COURSE i would suggest that!)
if it was at my house, which it was for many years:
I would cook a ham. the day before. slice it. then all you need to do is reheat the slices. have baked beans (again, an easy "do-ahead).. just buy Busches (sp?) baked beans and docotr it up with sauteed hot dog chunks, onions, peppers, brown sugar or molasses, bacon, bit of mustard, some ketchup, etc. make ahead of time. stick in oven with ham slices. VIOLA! make up some Augratin potatos and a tossed salad, and YOU get to spend time with your company! happy easter! (oh yeah, decorated eggs, of course. have someone else bring them)

a little OT, but nowadays, no one leaves the eggs out for any length of time. but. gee, aren't they "out" all night.. in their "hiding spots" when the "easter bunny" hides them after the chilluns go to bed?
does anyone else remember those decorated eggs sitting in a basket on the dining room table for a week after?

Yep. I'm hosting. I did Cmas too, but everyone sorta pitches in and bring things. Here's our menu and I think I'm having around 15 people....

Ham
Green Beans
Potatoes
Rolls
Deviled eggs
Jello salad
Cooked carrots
Bunny cake & ice cream
Mini key lime no-bake cheesecakes
Rice krispy treat bird nests

yes, we always host. we usually do breakfast and dinner here on easter, but have decided to do brunch instead this year. menu is planned, but I haven't done a bit of shopping/planning for shopping yet. guess I'd better get busy!

I am reluctantly hosting Easter for DHs family and my Mom. It seems like we host 80%+ of the holidays. On my side, I have a brother and his wife who are wonderful at inviting us and taking turns hosting. They are having their children and grandchildren this year so they are all set, but I always ask them just in case they have no plans. On DHs side, one brother and his wife will occassionally offer to host and they did this time. They have both been out of work and he is recovering from surgery though, so I didn't want to burden them. His other brother and his wife never invite us over, holidays or otherwise, and I keep waiting for them to take their turn. Out of the three wives, I am the only one who works and would be a really nice gesture if somebody else could organize a gathering for once. On top of hosting the holidays, we host at least one or two pool parties a year, too.

As for the menu, I am keeping it pretty basic, ham, mashed potatoes, homemade cole slaw, a couple of other veggies. I may ask them to bring appetizers. I will make a French silk pie and a bunny cake for dessert.

The closest I am to hosting Easter Dinner is that I was the one that called to make the reservations for the restaurant we will be eating it at LOL....I am SO past making big family holiday dinners- would go out for every single one if it was up to me.

We are spending the day in New Orleans. Started that last year with dd (did the same thing for a few years with ds's). She is too old for Easter egg hunts and that kind of takes any fun out of the day, so we spend a fun day exploring the French Quarter and seeing an Easter parade (after attending sunrise services at church).

Next year dgd will be old enough to take part in egg hunts and will enjoy the Easter bunny part of things so we will start having dinner at our house again.

I wish it was at my house but it's not. Well that's not completely true. We will meet my mom at mass at her church come back to my house and I will make brunch, stuffed french toast. Then I will leave the kitchen a mess and go to the in laws. I use to love Easter but now not so much. To top it off my DD has a couple of food allergies and MIL is no help with that so I have to pack her dinner and what is worse she will never tell me what she is having so I have to guess, yes I have tried but I have gotten non response from her! Granted it was worse when she was younger and didn't understand why her cousins had x and she didn't. Ugh

Yep. We are the hosts... and given the number of people our GUESTS invited we've turned it into a pool party, barbecue (cook out actually).

Yes, just my IL's are coming. Maybe my single middle aged BIL if he can't think of an excuse .

Main dishes are, ham, roasted potatos, salad, & asparagus.

Well, we sort of are. DH's aunt does Easter quite often but we don't go but his mom and sister will go see the extended family (it is huge). DH doesn't care for all that so always do Easter at home. It'll just be a simple menu (ham, potatoes, veggies, yeast roll, dessert) and I'll see if my mom wants to come (alone) after church or not. I'll also see if my sister and her kids want to come since she is going through a separation but I doubt they will. I don't think my other sister will come *home* so it'll probably be a very quiet day.

Not this year, we are going out for brunch with DH's family. We always host Christmas and usually do Thanksgiving and Easter for either just our family or various relatives depending on the year. It's kind of nice not having to worry about the plans and prep this year.

No, we are spending Easter weekend at my Dad's house on the Cape.

I called his wife a week ago and said "The kids really miss you guys, I was thinking we'd spend Easter weekend at your house" of course, they were thrilled and I look like the good daughter bringing the grand kids the 3 hour trip to visit nana and puppa, but really, I'm just lazy and don't want to cook!

No, we are very happily spending Easter at Beaches Turks and Caicos. We leave next Saturday!
