I was at the World of Disney in DD Marketplace a couple of days ago, dressed in typical park-hopping attire, paying for pins & notebooks & other Mickey items with an Annual Pass for the discount when the CM at the cash register asked me, "Are you here on vacation?".

I politely answered, "yes" but was dumbstruck at the question. My pass is NOT a Florida pass and I definitly looked like a tourist with my fanny pack & such.

Not your typical opening line from a CM!

I get asked this all of the time, and it shocks a lot of the CMs that I'm not a tourist. My general answer is, "No...I live right up the street."

I guess this means I must look like a tourist then ;)

Just wanted to wave :wave2: HI to you. Haven't seen you around much lately. Hope everything's going well with you and your family. :sunny:

We hear that line a lot at WDW. I think it is used as a conversation starter, because the question that usually follows is, "Where are you from?" Sometimes the "Are you here on vacation question" is because they'll offer to deliver packages to your resort as well.

That makes sense.... It would take you off guard though.

Hey Claudia. :wave2: Hope the trip was a nice breather for you guys. Easter wishes for you all. ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

now I know I will need a snappy Bill Engvall-type "Here's your sign" answer when I get asked :)

Never been asked that one, I must REALLY look like a tourist when I'm there.;)

Hope your trip was wonderful.:D

I got that same question from a OKW bus driver a few weeks ago. She picked us up at Typhoon Lagoon to go back to OKW. I thought it was a very strange question, but figured she was just trying to make small talk.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one that has heard this. I was wondering if I looked strange or suspicious to her.

KingsFanin RI: when I told my DH about it, he also said, "Here's your sign"!

Maybe they were thinking vacation as opposed to convention, which would partially be a work-related event, as opposed to vacation, which would totally be a fun related event!!!!
