I actually am. That surprises my brother and I dont know why.
lol

So far in the last week I have buit and stained a console table ( looks beautiful if I do say so myself ;) ) built a put together bookcase, installed window shades, put together ds' bed ( a big loft bed) and fixed several other things around here. Im feeling pretty good about myself this week :)

so are you handy around the house?

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed binny. I am useless around the house. If it's broke it stays broke until DH gets around to it .

Actually, I am. My dad was a building Supt, and growing up I spent a lot of time in his work shop observing, etc and accompanying him on repair jobs. I can do a lot of small jobs and fix-its of assorted varieties. However, neither of my brothers did this, and both are basically useless around the house, LOL

I wasn't until we bought a house -- now, while I'm no Bob Vila (or, better yet, Norm :D), I manage to do some things around the house.

The big stuff I call on friends to help out with. :)

My DH doesn't do household stuff so I've learned to do some. I haven't tried plumbing but have painted, and do all the hanging etc. Best thing I bought so far is a nice drill / screwdriver. Makes it pretty easy.

I've got a pretty big list of projects, they just don't seem to get done that fast.

Definitely! So much so that one time my DH actually gave me a stepladder and a can of wood putty for Christmas.. :) That same year my sister-in-law gave me a tool box..

I learned a LOT from my Dad - he was a jack of all trades and could do ANYTHING - but mostly I'm just far too impatient to wait for anyone else..

I remember one time I was in the kitchen installing a new faucet and my DH was in the living room sewing a hole in the pocket of his work pants.. My DD looked at me and said, "Mom - what's wrong with this picture??" LOL

Another time my DH came home from work and could barely get in the driveway because I ripped our entire bathroom out - right down to the outside walls!! :)

MY DH is very handy, I'm somewhat handy. He does major work around the house to include plumbing, electrical work, carpentry. I'm more into the aestetics, I do wallpapering, painting, and I recently layed tile in our bathroom. We bought a 100+ year old home 10 years ago, so we learned quickly how to fix things. :)

I can change light bulbs and air conditioner filters, beyond that, we hire it done.

I would be if I had the money, time, and tools.

I would say yes, but as the years roll on I have more things done by the pros. I know they will get done that way. I have done electrical, plumbing, paneling, accoustical ceilings, doors, paint, paper, auto stuff. But like I said, I prefer the pros do it now. Lady M likes that too. :)

Not really, but I sure would like to be.

Actually I am, I will tackle just about anything but electrical, I'm petrified of electricity.

Oooh, I wish I were. I would love to refurbish an old house. Of course, I've known people who have never opened the back of a toilet and freak when it starts to overflow. Around them, I am Bob Vila.

My SO would rather I didn't touch any tools. I tend to get aggrevated and break more stuff if I go in to fix something.:o:teeth:

Since we bought a house last year!!! Although I try - I'm with Goofy - I brake many more things than fix!!! Chris is pretty handy.
