Are You Going To Watch the Eclipse?

Set my alarm for 2:00am here in the East, and watched until 3:20am. My favorite part of any lunar eclipse is how bright everything seems at the beginning, and then you get the "night within the night" as the shadow creeps across the moon.

Picture perfect viewing conditions in Southeastern PA made for a great eclipse! :thumbsup2

It's soooo beautiful. And once in a lifetime. Glad we are getting to see it. Hope to get a better picture than the few we already took.

Maybe once in a lifetime for you to get up and see it, but they are actually pretty common - there will be two full lunar eclipses next year, one in the summer and one in December. Google it for the schedule - maybe you will get to see more in your lifetime!!

It was too cloudy here so I didn't get to see it after all - I saw it at half eclipse and then nothing. Boo...

For once in my life I should have listened to the Weather guy!

I went to bed and the skies were clear. Set my alarm and got up at 3am. Clouds everywhere and couldn't see a thing.

They told me it would be cloudy!

Of course they also said an inch of snow and that didn't happen!

I didn't know about this until I saw it on the TODAY show. Not that it would have helped. We had heavy cloud cover which made viewing impossible.

Maybe there is an online viewing somewhere. I will have to search.

The big deal was that it coincided with the winter solstice.

really, REALLY wanted too, DS was not happy when I said no way ( has his last finals this morning at 7:30) but alas, the snowy sky prevented any visibility anyway,
Ah well, Happy Winter Solstice!

Got up aat 2:45, should have gotten up earlier as it was basically through the build up and was already totally copper. We tried for about 30 mins to get some picks but wind was causing the camera to shake so we never really got anything all that great, but it was the best that I had ever seen

OK good...LOL I actually entertained the idea of setting the alarm, but it was so cloudy before bed that I decided against it. Glad to hear confirmation that it was still too cloudy for viewing.

2 years ago, the lunar eclipse was much earlier, a lot easier to see. If anyone wants to know what it looked like for a just learning photographer with a non-dSLR camera......

And if you want to know what a tripod looks like after being set up for 3 or 4 hours in 18 F temps.....
